Is there anyone here who likes bananas? Cool! Then get in the middle of the action - right on the banana plantation! See it all for yourself, feel the bark of the banana tree under your fingers and taste the very ones that are the sweetest in the world. Add to that the wind in your hair, the majestic mountains on one side and the deep blue of the ocean on the other. Can you smell the air yet? Or are you more of a history buff and hold your breath in fascination as the red thread weaves its way from the past to the present? Then we have a juicy treat for you. That's right, banana-flavored ;)

We invite you to Tenerife, an island nicknamed the island of eternal spring. Here we have a special address to a special place. Here you will be able to experience all of this. Here you will enter another world. Like Middle Earth. The majestic Teide and the mixture of green and blue. So take a deep breath and immerse yourself... right among the banana trees. Let the road take you to the heart of the plantation. To a homestead that dates back to 1507 - the Hotel Rural El Patio! And no, we're not exaggerating at all. But sorry, we won't tell you any more. We'll leave it shrouded in a tantalising veil of mystery, which Baltasar, a descendant of this precious place, will reveal to you.

When you turn off the main road, you are suddenly surrounded by a wall of banana trees. The road will slowly descend down towards the ocean and through the thicket of banana trees you will reach the historic homestead in a few minutes. Here, time seems to stand still for a moment... Welcome to a place that boasts 400- years of history and the extraordinary stories of the people who lived and worked here.

The homestead is divided into two parts, where renovated and cosy guest rooms are ready to welcome guests.

MAIN PART (BUILDING)
SUPERIOR ROOMS
Cosy rooms can be found on the first floor overlooking the banana plantation and the mountains. The old wooden ceilings have been preserved and 4 of the 5 rooms have a private terrace. They accommodate 4 sleepers. That's why they are ideal for a family holiday (especially the last room, although without a terrace, it is the largest.)
They have a safe (extra fee), a bathroom with a shower and everything you need for daily cleaning, a hairdryer and a towel warmer.

STANDARD ROOMS
These rooms are located around the central terrace, so they are on the ground floor. Some of them have a small terrace. Depending on their position, they have views of the terrace, the garden, the mountains and even the ocean. However, from all of them you will have a view of the banana plantation. All rooms have a bathroom (shower) and everything you need for daily cleaning. They also have a hairdryer and towel warmer. An extra bed is available on request (price depends on age) and a baby cot is free (on request).

In the main area you will also find a spacious lounge with TV, a small kitchenette where you can prepare your own meals and you will also find a bar with local wine or beer.

ANNEX BUILDING
STANDARD ROOMS
This part of the homestead is tucked away in the middle of a banana plantation. The building is approximately 600m from the main part of the homestead, so you will be assured of a walking minimum each day.
They have created cosy rooms in the building that was once home to the labourers working on the plantation. The terraces mostly overlook the mountain, but from the back of the building we can also see the ocean. They are equipped with a safe (extra fee), shower, hairdryer and towel warmer. An extra bed is available on request (price depends on age) and a cot is free (on request).

This building also includes a lounge with a mini kitchenette.

RESTAURANT
In the main part of the homestead there is a restaurant where you can enjoy local food every day. And the ocean views are sure to add to your good digestion ;)

If you want, you don't have to think at all about what you're going to cook in order to eat well. Because they'll be happy to feed you. You can start your day with breakfast and if you want, they can take care of dinner for you.

They also have a garden tucked away in the middle of the banana plantations where they grow their own fruit and vegetables. So, when you eat gazpacho, it's more than highly likely that it's from their own tomatoes. And fragrant with herbs from their own herb garden.

Who knows what all good things they'll treat you to. Be surprised and enjoy the slow food.

If you've been looking for a place where you won't actually have to do anything, you're right.

But we have a few options for you:
- you can celebrate the new day with a tasty breakfast and then tuck yourself on the patio with a book in hand
- take your swimsuit and towels and go for a swim at one of the beaches (walking distance)
- inquire about the history of this precious place and transport yourself back in time
- arrange a tour of the banana plantation and prepare for a dose of interesting information
- you'll also head to Teide National Park - here you can test your fitness by climbing not only the highest mountain on the island, but also the highest mountain in Spain, Pico del Teide. If you choose to do so, book your climb online and pack plenty of water.
- experience the iconic road full of twists and turns on the way to the village of Masca, once a pirate hideaway (watch out if you have weak stomachs)
