First there was the volcano. A lava house rose at its feet in 1812. Later came the colors. And hosts with passion for food, design, and hospitality.

In Sicily, a stone's throw from the sea, between Milo and Sant'Alfio. Casa Lawa gazes directly at Etna—one of the world's most active volcanoes. This 10-acre site, once an old palmento (grape press), is now a tranquil oasis surrounded by an orchard.

As Lukas says, "The perfect vacation offers the freedom to do what you feel like, knowing there's always someone ready to give advice." He and his partner are those "someones." They know the best spots around, can organize cooking classes, hiking trips, or arrange visits to nearby wineries. At Casa Lawa, everyone can find their own meaning of "dolce far niente," and the hosts make sure it's a stress-free holiday.
