Domu Antiga
Guesthouse
The name of this place is no coincidence. In Sardinian dialect, "domu" means "home," and "antiga" means "old." So now you know where to look: on the Italian island of Sardinia, more specifically in the picturesque village of Gergei.
Domu Antigua, being an old house, has its quirks and off days. It doesn’t have modern amenities, but it does have a Ricotta cheese-making kit and Samuel, who teaches how to make it the traditional way in his lab. There’s also a kitchen where you can learn to make pasta and a wood-fired oven for baking real bread.
The care for this historic building goes hand in hand with a commitment to culinary traditions. The ingredients used in the kitchen come from the local area, and the eggs are sourced right from the backyard. Guests have the chance to taste authentic Sardinian specialties, such as culurgiones—pasta filled with potatoes and cheese, or seadas—fried pastries filled with fresh cheese and drizzled with aromatic honey. At Domu Antigua, they understand that the way to the heart is through the stomach. And we can assure you of one thing—it's hard to leave here hungry!
