Rifugio Lanzagallo
Guesthouse
In southeastern Sicily, you’re probably familiar with Mamma Etna – the affectionate name Italians give to the famous volcano. And Catania and Syracuse? You might recognize those too! How about a little trip further south?
Just an hour’s drive and you’ll find yourself in Modica. It’s probably the sweetest spot on the island! They make chocolate here using Aztec recipes. They say it’s delicious, but it’s best to try it for yourself!
Another twenty minutes of driving and you’ll arrive at Rifugio Lanzagallo. It’s a charming stone house nestled among olive groves at a crossroads of country roads. From here, you can see the southern tip of Sicily and the Mediterranean Sea.
It was once a home for animals and a ricotta cheese factory, but now? It’s a stone cottage with history and comfort! There’s even a round bathtub with a view of the surrounding fields. In the morning, at a homemade breakfast, you can hear the story of this place directly from the hosts! Istvan will be happy to suggest which nearby town is worth visiting and what to see there.
