Wapiennik Łaskawy Kamień
Museum

The Wapiennik Łaskawy Kamień in Stara Morawa is the only original and restored Rumford lime kiln in the country, and the third in Europe, and a technical monument from the 19th century.
You can visit, among others, the former lime kiln with a viewing terrace, art studios and galleries, a bat observatory and a park with a Japanese garden located in the vicinity of the Wapiennik.
The historic lime kiln was built in the mid-19th century and remained in operation until the interwar period. From that moment on, it fell into ruin until the 1970s, when Poznań graphic artist Prof. J.M. Rybczyński and his family undertook the mission of rebuilding the Wapiennik and creating an artistic and cultural facility there, which it remains to this day.
Today, the interior of the Wapiennik is occupied by graphic studios and an art gallery, including a gallery of graphics and artistic objects of Prof. J.M. Rybczyński. During the tour, you can learn the secrets of various types of artistic printing, and even, as part of workshops organized by Wapiennik, try your hand at the world of art.
Winged tenants.
The interior of Wapiennik houses not only art studios and galleries - it is also one of the most important breeding colonies of bats in Lower Silesia.
Among the species found in Wapiennik, you can distinguish the greater mouse-eared bat and the lesser horseshoe bat, the latter being one of the most endangered species of bats in Poland. In the winter season, the colony numbers up to several dozen individuals.
If you are interested in the world of bats, it is worth visiting us and learning more about these mysterious mammals.
In the silence of the Japanese garden.
The surroundings of Wapiennik are no less interesting than its interior - the tour includes the original Japanese Garden - an oasis of greenery and peace designed in accordance with the traditions of the East, where plant species from many parts of the world, Zen circles, art objects, and even... a local dragon meet.
