Hello!

We are Internet veterans, who fell in love in travelling to sustainable places. After working for long years in multiple startups (just to give some names: DaWanda, Docplanner, Booksy, eBay, Groupon), we have decided to become more enterpreneurial and start our own project: Slowhop.

If you want to look up our profiles and experience and check who stands behind the scenes, here we are – Slowhop founders: Aleksandra, Marcin, Paweł.

Slowhop is an online travel marketplace and booking platform for niche hideaways. We are a bootstrapped startup (we like our own independance and possibility to go more sustainable, sometimes slower way). We are 10 people team at this moment and we think would most likely grow to around 20 by the end of the year.

We love travelling to interesting places, in remote areas, close to nature. We love outstanding architecture and design, and historic places that are renovated in a subtle, modern way. And by most – we love meeting amazing hosts that give us a bit of insight into they neighbourhoods and very often dedicate their time to making their surrounding a better place.

We search for those places, curate them and help people out there to book them and discover the rest on their own.

We also build community of host of such places and create a place for them where they can share their passion, exchange their ideas and pains. Talk. And visit each other.

We want to create for both hosts and guests searching for stylish hideaways a place / a community that they will enjoy and get inspiration from.

Slowhop started in January 2017.

In the past years we have focused on creating a vibrant marketplace in Poland. In the meanwhile we have over 700 000 visits on our website / month, nearly 500 amazing sustainable places on our platform and more then 10 000 reservations done. Plus some good reach on Social Media (see: our Facebook and Instagram)

And what is more important, we share the road ahead with amazing group of hosts – who started to community and share good and bad experiences on our meetups and online FB group.

Now we are keen to repeat the same for some more countries

Our job is to make the ground work and research, learn your place really well and then present it to audience in complling and extremely truthfull way. We do the copywriting and storytelling for you. 

And we always try to show the good stuff about you and also highlight all the facts that make your place a real thing, but could be distrurbing for some guests (take really steep stairs, or livesock making lots of noise in the morning, etc.). We learned that by doing it we build trust in our recommendation, and also send exactly the right type of guest to you - the guys that will truly understand and enjoy your place.

Slowhop is also about making online reservations. Guests can view your calendars and based on your availability request the booking. Once you confirm availability and price they can pay online advance payment that appears on your Stripe account that comes with Slowhop. Very soon we will also add instant booking functionality for all hosts that would like to use it.

We are a bootstrapped company, so whatever we earn, lets us to go further and make the experience better for you. But at the same time we try to keep our fees on a lower level to help you build sustainable way of live.

Most of our revenues come from the commission for successful bookings 8% on total booking value + payment fee 2% (to be added soon, usually only prepayment flows through Slowhop, so in that case that will not be charged on full booking value). We do not impose any booking fees on our guests.

We also charge a yearly membership fee of EUR 150. This covers e.g. costs of research, creating profiles and Stripe account monthly fees.
