In the westernmost range of the Carpathians, the largest river in Poland has its source, shepherds celebrate the traditional first herding of the season, and when it snows, a sledge and snowshoes are needed, and the old highlander houses find new owners.
Right here, in the midst of silence broken by the torment of sheep, we run an intimate cottage in the Beskid Żywiecki. Jelonkowo is a traditional cottage surrounded by a meadow, forest and beautiful views of wild mountains. Forest animals behind the fence, kilos of mushrooms under the larch trees and a family atmosphere in the cottage. The mountain cabin remembers the lack of electricity, the water from the wells and the silence unspoiled by telephone calls. It was built in 1894 and its owners changed several times, as well as its appearance and decor, always respecting the Beskids tradition. The cottage will provide a comfortable shelter for a total of 11 people.
The summer season is as follows: kilometers of trails in the mountains or hammocks/sun loungers in the garden for getting a nice tan. You can go to the mountains, knock at the hut for the best oscypek cheese and eat plums straight from our trees. To relax after a long hike, you can jump into the swimming pool in the former quarry below our mountain. In the winter, explore snowy trails with our snowshoes, build a snowman and create an igloo in the garden, or grab a sledge and slide down the hill right behind the fence. In the evenings, warm up by the fireplace with warming infusions.
We don't serve witchcraft or magic. But we do have people. Good people. We want you to feel at home with us.
We also have a detached, four-person small cottage for rent on the estate - you can find it in a separate listing for JELONKOWO - COTTAGE:

We don't throw loud parties, as we have plenty of wild friends just outside the fence.

We are always happy to help if you have any problems, as we live next door to you in a separate part of the house.

For dining near Jelonków, we recommend:
Gościniec Smrekowa Chata - right at the foot of "our" mountain, a 25-minute walk or a quick drive. Colinka Restaurant at the border crossing in Glinka serves traditional Slovak cuisine and more.
About 7 km from us, we recommend Bacówka (a shepherd's hut) in Hala Królowej (Queen's Hall) for its incredibly delicious oscypek cheese. The shepherd sells it from May to October, during which time he drives 500 head of sheep from Zakopane for the summer season. Unforgettable views are included with the oscypek cheese.
Year-round, for delicious local cheeses, head to Serowa Kraina (Serowa Kraina) in Rajcza or take a walk with the hostess towards Wielki Smereków.
In Rajcza, there's a local market on Thursday mornings, where you can buy quality produce, and in Ujsoły, the Delikatesy Centrum (Delicatessen Center) delivers authentic cold cuts from local producers.
Waking up to the accompaniment of a bird radio, breakfast, a book, a mountain, a valley, a sheep, a deer, a clearing, a mountain, a shelter, a peak, dinner, a nap, a bonfire and conversations until late at night. This is what a standard day in Soblówka usually looks like. First of all, rest, relaxation, blissful laziness and an active escape from the concrete reality.
In the summer, we relax in a hammock, a deckchair, on the terrace, surrounded by forests and mountains, and those who are willing can help us stack firewood around the house.
Our habitat is located on the yellow trail to Wielka Rycerzowa and on the other side to Krawce Wierch. There are shelters at both peaks with delicious food and beautiful views. For mountain hikers, we have kilometers of hiking and cycling trails. We provide maps and advice on site.
In winter, the snow falls and there is no end in sight, so in addition to building an igloo, having a snowball fight, sledding in our field, you can grab a shovel and dig up the house as part of outdoor activities. Afterwards, it's time for mulled wine and warm air in the beautiful living room by the fireplace.
In winter, you can go ski touring just outside the fence, and if you don't have your own equipment, you can rent it near us in Rajcza. If you don't ski, we have snowshoes for you.
Autumn is full of mushrooms and the phenomenal calls of deer in the rut. It often looks like this: "Honey, I'm going to the larch for a moment to see if there are butterflies" and you come back with 4 kilograms of mushrooms.
There are plenty of local cultural events organized in the area:
There are plenty of local cultural events organized in the area:
An extraordinary event in August in Ujsoły is Wawrzyńcowe Hudy. It is a celebration of the highlanders from Ujsoły (it is part of the Beskid Culture Week), when there is a festival of folk bands from all over the world over the weekend, and the culmination is the evening burning of a 20-meter-high wooden tower. It is exceptionally spectacular and the firefighters have everything under control here.
An important ritual in the highlander culture is the spring custom and the autumn redyk. Where sheep graze in the pastures and meadows, there are also shepherds. These calling animals go with the Baca right from the Tatra Mountains in search of green grass. In June every year, a shepherd's custom takes place in Soblówka, i.e. a drive of sheep to the village and an accompanying event. In autumn, there is a holiday in Soblówka, i.e. Redyk. Shepherd's farewell before returning with her flock of sheep to Tarty for the winter. Every year, Baca drives a herd of 500 sheep through the mountains from Zakopane to Soblówka and back.
Not far from us, in Soblówka, there is a shepherd's hut where Baca works while grazing sheep. You can buy delicious, fresh and not cheated cheeses there. We recommend it wholeheartedly.
Endless stretches of grass, hares, roe deer, deer and sometimes sheep outside the window, in winter snow up to the tip of the nose and icicles like knights' swords. The reality is truly fairy-tale, and this is the best natural playground. There are hammocks and swings for babies to swing on. In winter, we provide snowshoes, sleds and shovels for building igloos for little yetis. Evenings are filled with baking food by the fire, playing board games, reading books and counting the stars in the sky.
We walk a lot here with our daughter, so we also recommend walking with children of all ages to our guests.
On site, we can rent a Thule off-road trailer for hiking (summer or winter) and mountain biking trips with children from 2 months up to 22 kg.
If you prefer closer contact with your baby, we have the Tula carrier for you. If you want to climb higher peaks and shelters, we will rent you a Thule backpack carrier.
Below our mountain (approx. 2 km away) is the Glinka Geopark - an old quarry transformed into open swimming pools. In July and August there is a zip line, a rope park, a playground and something to eat. There are plenty of attractions for a whole day of fun.
In the apartment for babies we have a cot, a highchair, a stool, a bathtub, a changing table and a potty.
If you value privacy as much as white starched sheets, the apartment is the place for you. There is an eight-person table in the kitchen, where you will be able to do what you are paid for without any disturbances and in comfortable conditions. The largest bedroom has a desk, and at your request, we can also add a comfortable office chair and a monitor.
On the terrace there is a wooden table with a bench and the internet there is also flawless. We also have a power socket at the table in the garden, under the tree and under the barbecue shelter.
So don't hesitate any longer and give yourself the pleasure of working in nature.
