There are two things you should know about us: firstly, we live in a real station which is over 100 years old and which used to be the largest on the mountain section of the Jizera Railway (the highest railway in Poland) which connected Prussia with Austria-Hungary. Years ago, the stationmaster lived there, then the PKP employees, now you can too. The second important piece of information: Narnia is right next to us. Disney's filmmakers appreciated the charm and fairytale atmosphere of the Jizera Mountains, and here, between the vertical walls of the Kamieńczyk Gorge, amid the sound of falling water, they set the fairytale scenes of one of the parts of "The Chronicles of Narnia".
Two years ago, we started the station's renovation so that it could serve as a cosy and charming retreat. We have ensured that the house has not lost its soul and is enchanted by the passing train connecting Szklarska Poręba with the Czech Republic (please note that we are still part of the station and the first train passes at 8:15 and the last at 20:30).
The Jizera Mountains are not only the kingdom of fairy tales but also mountain biking and cross-country skiing. There is everything you need for active people: mountain trails, cycling tracks, cross-country skiing tracks and specially marked cross-country skiing tracks for dog runners. Thanks to excellent climatic conditions and a very long snow cover (until May!), the area around Szklarska Poręba is one of the best cross-country skiing centres. The largest cross-country skiing event in Poland, the Bieg Piastów, is held here.
In the 14th century, it is here that Walloon gold prospectors discovered rich deposits of quartz, rock crystal, and adjacent gold deposits. The Walloons left behind only known direction signs and information, which were carved on trees, rocks or stones - it is worth looking around in search of carved stars, the moon, a cross, a pickaxe or a hammer - and you may return home with gold in your pockets!
And it is here that you will find a station that is more than a century old, whose cosy interiors will allow you to have a good rest and gain strength for all the challenges awaiting you.
What distinguishes us is the unusual interiors in which we put our hearts into the device. We wanted to create a comfortable and beautifully decorated habitat, so we took care of every detail. The material that we used for the reconstruction and renovation is mainly brick - the kind our house is made of. We wanted a healthy and natural interior, which is why we also used wood and stone. We also took care of relaxing light zones, which will facilitate relaxation and proper eye rest.
We have prepared 5 apartments for you with fully equipped kitchenettes and bathrooms for maximum comfort. You will sleep comfortably in double, four and five-person apartments. The largest of them is equipped with a fireplace that will make cool evenings more pleasant and give them a festive atmosphere.
Note: There is a small quarry nearby where the Krkonoše granite is mined. Sometimes you can hear rocks blowing up. In addition, they live in a hospitable forest zone, which effectively suppresses all noise and generates air of perfect quality - sleep well and breathe deeply!
So far, we have focused on preparing you comfortable beds and a successful rest in every respect ... except for food. You do not have to take care of it yourself and we believe that you will do it better than us. We give you well-equipped kitchenettes (in each apartment), which you can use at will and enchant the most delicious dishes.
As soon as time permits, you can have a chance to try my wife's delicious cakes - cheesecake and strawberry pie, which makes your mouth water. We will also tell you that we are in the process of preparing a garden where we will treat you to hot coffee from a mobile cafe, bake our own cakes, serve grilled dishes, beer and liqueurs. Give us a moment and it will be delicious!
If you do not want to cook, we wholeheartedly recommend delicious garlic soup, duck and pork knuckle to lick your fingers at the Pension u Studny in Harachov (13 km). You can also eat well in Bistro 654 in Szklarska Poręba (2 km), and for delicious trout it is worth going to the Fish Restaurant "U Rybaka" in Sosnówka (23 km). Gluten lovers should visit Górska Bakery in Szklarska Poręba (1.8 km), which specializes in Walloon bread.
If in life what matters to you are: the number of bounces, stride length, getting the best time or winning the Piast Race, and you do not have well-prepared cross-country trails in your area - we invite you to us. Runners, cyclists, skiers and hikers have their paradise here, because Apartamenty Stacja Huta are located in a unique location, right next to the running, cycling and walking routes of the Jizera Mountains. We are happy to rent bikes and advise the best paths for a ride. In winter, we will store your ski equipment and suggest which ski slopes to choose.
It is worth following the routes of the famous Polish master of epigrams, Jan Sztaudynger. We especially recommend the Large Sztaudyngerowska Tourist Route, the crossing of which can take up to 10 hours - but nevertheless guarantees unforgettable views. It leads through the Szklarki Waterfall (on the way to it, it is also worth visiting a colorful cave, the so-called "Red Jam"), Zbójnickie Rocks, Hut Wallon, Kamieńczyk Waterfall and Wysoki Kamień.
The legends of the Krkonoše Mountain Spirit encourage you to look for the Evening Castle, which is to hide inexhaustible riches (which is confirmed by the medieval gold and precious stone hunter Antonius de Medici). Unfortunately, the Evening Castle was turned into rocks with a curse, and only once a year on Midsummer's Eve can you find the entrance to it. And then only retirement, because apparently the explorer will swim in gold!
However, if you prefer blissful laziness, we understand it perfectly and we give you comfortable and cozy places to relax in the garden and a barbecue. Long winter (and not only) evenings can be spent catching up with movies - Netflix is available in each apartment.
What’s there for children?
We do not have games or a playground, which is why our most important thing is fantasy and creativity. The kids most often spend their time outdoors, which we have plenty of. Numerous trails invite you to discover nature, cycling and skiing.
The renovated Park of the Mountain Spirit encourages you to go for walks, and the Trail of Hard Professions will show the backstage of old methods of stone, iron and glass processing. By following it, you can learn about the process of glass and vessel formation, learn the art of traditional blacksmithing, and at the Juna Earth Museum, see a unique collection of minerals, play the Great Parade Drum and see what glistens in the Sudeten streams.
When going on a trip to the Szklarki waterfall, it is worth visiting Chata Walońska, where the Sudeten Walloon Brotherhood (those for treasures and gold) is located. Brotherhood members will be happy to tell legends about the Mountain Spirit, Walloon traditions and treasure hunts.
Thrill-seekers will be happy to visit the Rope Park or the Dinosaur Park in Szklarska Poręba.
