If you have found your way here, it is a sign that you are drawn to the wilderness. Welcome to Poganty, 7 kilometres from Giżycko, there are no others on the map of Poland. You may wonder how people find such holes in the middle of nowhere, but I know the answer to this question. Ten years ago, my parents found an old farmhouse where they could settle down for their old age. To say a ramshackle farmhouse is like saying nothing at all. Buildings to be completely renovated, 4.5 hectares of land, no civilised road. The countryside in its purest form. However, my parents got into the renovation groove and couldn't stop. The plan was simple - renovate two buildings, but in their haste, they renovated all five of them. Then they decided that the place didn't appeal to them. For a few years, the big family (I have nine siblings) came here once or twice a year, until I decided that it was a shame to visit only on special occasions.

We have a special room for workshops, a barn for weddings, and the Jałownik, Mały Domek and Obora for sleeping. I tell you that sleeping in this kind of barn is not as bad as it sounds. A stone, red-tiled one, where each room has its own bathroom and balcony. Where a shared kitchen allows integration and every window overlooks the greenery. There are nine rooms and one suite. You can take them all at once, you can take them individually. I invite you to the meadow, to the pond, to the lake. Sometimes you can hear the clucking of our hens, the sound of goats and the buzzing of beehives. Apart from our neighbours - roe deer and elk - we have a military training ground on one side (3 km away) and post pegeer fields on the other. So in summer, there is a harvest from dawn to dusk, and all year round, once a month, there are training sessions on the training ground, and for 3 hours, you can hear gunshots from afar. Apart from that, not a dog with a limp foot is interested in the surroundings, which is the most beautiful thing about it.

You will sleep in a beautiful stone building that used to be a cowshed. Now all that remains of the cows resting here is their memory and name. The rest doesn't look like a cattle shelter at all. The cowshed is one of 5 residential buildings in Poganty. So you can meet other guests in the shared kitchen, pass your neighbors in the yard, play an inter-room match on the pitch, or cut yourself off completely and go your own way, and we have plenty of space for isolation. 4.5 hectares of its own meadows, which are not separated from the rest of the vast greenery.

In the Cowshed there is a large kitchen to be shared with residents of neighboring rooms, and a common table at which you can meet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So you cook yourselves and we don't stick our noses into other people's pots. The apartment has its own separate kitchenette, where you can cook privately.



There is a place for a bonfire at the Pogantowe pond, and in Jałownik, a building next to the Cowshed, there is a large room with an internal fireplace, where you can have a bonfire even in bad weather if there is no one there.



Our farm has 10 goats, chickens and bees, but we do not produce food on an industrial scale. We have two goat cheeses and 6 eggs a day, so if you would like to try it, let us know. However, we say straight out that we do not promise daily deliveries of our specialties.



We have 19 hives, so you can ask about honey and we will answer whether we have it.



Below we recommend some proven restaurants in the area. But what you need to know:

- in tourist towns it is more expensive than in the capital - you have to accept it or cook it yourself,

- it is better not to eat in restaurants on weekends (crowds),

- there is traffic every day during the season.

Don't isolate yourself from boredom. Yes, there is a lot to see in the area, Giżycko is only 7 km away, the Great Masurian Lakes Trail is behind the fence, there are monuments nearby, but we know from experience that when we come to Poganty, we do not look beyond the nearest open field. It is worth taking a proven team with you, because we have plenty of places, and it has long been known that a great place and a good team are the key to holiday success. So what do we do when we're bored?

We take a boat and life jackets (they are on site) and set sail for Dargin. The lake is 300 meters from the farm and the road leads through tall crops. If you have a pair in your hands, you can sail out into the wide waters and visit Kisajno, Łabap or Dobskie, connected to Dargin.

We drink our morning coffee with our feet in the water, sitting on the pier over the pond. You can do it too. Be sure to take a book with you, because the coffee may last until noon. In the evening, this is where we light a fire and sing as loud as we can.

We also have a field football pitch, which can be turned into a volleyball/badminton pitch at any time.

Our parents created Pogant for children, so there is no boredom. The years are flying by, and these kids already have their kids who use the rural amenities and go crazy. Let's be honest with little explorers, it doesn't take much to be happy. 4.5 ha of grass - there, the trampoline - there, the field football field - there, the fancy treehouse - there, the swings - there. There is also a swing dangling from a tree at the lake, 300 meters away.
