Pracownia Cieńsza is the navel of the world. Probably not for you, but for my grandfather Henryk Musiałowicz, for sure. Who was my grandfather? Certainly not a paver, as I thought as a child, although he brought stones from the forest and arranged them in various configurations on the plot. Later he painted them, took care of them, and made a throne from a large boulder cut in half to watch the garden. Although he had his own summer house, he was not an allotment owner. Yes, he lived in harmony with nature, he loved plants, planted sedum plants and spoke to them tenderly every morning during his morning rounds. That's probably why they grow so luxuriantly. He was, however, an unreformable man, a complete artist, a workaholic, a visionary. His works have been exhibited all over the world, one of them ended up in the Michael Jordan collection, and it was still not enough for him. He created paintings, totems, banners and spatial forms until the last moment of his life. Having lived to be 101 years old, he never slowed down, although he himself said that "We're all on roller skates, and we should stop." In this way, my grandfather predicted the slow life trend, although I understood his words only now.
It's time to share your artistic vibes with the next generations. The Artist's Summer Studio is now yours. The floor in the kitchen is splashed with paint, you can admire the works of Henryk Musiałowicz in every nook and cranny, and it is created here with great lightness. Because it inspires literally everything. Paintings, sculptures, doors, a hand-painted tiled stove, books, the history of this place. The house is demanding, because although my mother and I renovated the interiors, the soul remained old. A creak here, a knock there. On the other hand, in the studio-gallery you can contemplate, listen to music, dance Slavic, practice yoga, paint, write a novel, and even play hide and seek. The kids love it. We also have a second house for you, a bit smaller, with space for 4 people. It is also full of art, antiques and imaginative play.
Pracownia Cieńsza can also be your navel of the world, let yourself fall in love.
In the large house we call the Artist's House, art plays the first violin, because it was the studio of the artist Henryk Musiałowicz, his Navel of the World. This is not a house for everyone, it is not a hotel, a guesthouse, or a typical house for rent. This is the legacy left behind by a painter, a sculptor and a working man. People looking for peace and quiet, spending time close to nature and creating will feel best here.
The house is an old cottage in Kurpie, bought 40 years ago and moved here by my grandfather. He enlarged the house with a tower and built his studio there, which after a while occupied most of the house. Later, when he ran out of space to place more easels and totems, he added a gallery-studio to his house, which is now a workshop and resting place. It's a building full of art, strange objects, paint-splattered floors, and creaking corners.
We have 4 rooms (two double rooms and two triple rooms) that can comfortably accommodate 10 people. Each room is different, each unique. The interior design was created by Jola Musiałowicz, my mother, Henryk's daughter, and a professional graphic designer and interior stylist. That's why you won't find classic furniture here - most of it was bought in antique stores, others were modified and repainted. Moreover, the strength of our place lies in the details - unusual combinations of colors, patterns and, of course, Musiałowicz's works, which are present in every room. We are most pleased that our guests sleep so well here and say that they haven't had such a good night's rest in a long time! If you want to feel like an artist, choose the red bedroom - this is where grandfather and grandmother lived.
Additionally, you will find two bathrooms in the house - one on the first floor and one on the ground floor, where you will find everything you need, including hair dryers and vegan shower gels. We also have a toilet with an entrance from the garden, an additional summer shower and a small sauna.
On the premises of Pracownia Cieńsza (the entire plot is almost 9,500 m²) there is also Jola's house, which is always there to help, an old cottage that serves as a creative work house, and two small houses for rent hidden at the end of the area. You can find them in the second offer: https://slowhop.com/pl/miejsca/4432-domki-z-wyobrazni.html.
The buildings are located in such a way that this presence is almost invisible - they have entrances and terraces on opposite sides. Due to the fact that guests come to us for peace and quiet, we want everyone to feel comfortable, which is why we avoid organizing noisy and boisterous parties. Sitting with wine, a bonfire and long conversations until the morning - YES; loud music – not necessarily.
During your stay with us, you can, of course, use the Henryk Musiałowicz Gallery, which invites you to contemplation and conversations in a unique atmosphere. There are sofas, carpets, atmospheric lights, books, music and a yoga room for those who would like to practice it with us. In autumn and winter, the Gallery is not heated, but remains open to guests.
Two dogs also live on the premises of Pracownia Cieńsza: two very friendly female dogs. That's why we invite guests with dogs or dogs that are peaceful and sociable;-)
We do not accept people for stag parties and we do not agree to loud and large parties. For hen parties, please contact us in advance.
We can prepare breakfasts for you with local delicacies from organic farms, but please inform us at least 4 days before arrival. We simply have to order everything because some of the ingredients are made to order.
The Artist's House has a large kitchen with everything you need for comfortable mixing pots: a 4-burner induction cooker with an oven, a dishwasher, and a large fridge. Cooking and baking utensils plus a large barbecue in the garden. The chef of one of the Warsaw restaurants visited us recently and he lacked nothing, which is a good sign. In addition, there is always coffee, tea, olive oil, spices and herbs from our garden.
Importantly, there are two entrances to the blue and white kitchen - through the living room and from the garden side. There is also a large, comfortable table in the kitchen, and three more tables waiting for you in the garden, where you can eat the delicacies you have cooked in the summer.
We also offer breakfast baskets full of delicacies from local farmers - goat and cow cheese, excellent cold cuts, delicious vegetables, honey from a friendly apiary and bread baked according to original recipes.
And if you don't feel like cooking, we can give you directions to nearby restaurants and catering with Polish or vegetarian cuisine.
If you want to take paints, pack your bikes, the road is free, flat and completely passable. Pracownia Cieńsza is primarily a place of creative relaxation and detox from the city, so you can do exactly what you want. Even if it's lying down. Grandpa rested here among nature, looking after plants, drawing inspiration from nature, sitting on the porch and watching sunsets. All day he was busy with creative work. This place inspires action. You can write the next chapter of a book, a poem, paint a picture, make a sculpture, crochet, knit, meditate and cook. Next to the house there is a 50-meter roofed space for relaxation, which used to be Henryk's outdoor studio, and today yoga and dance workshops, painting plein-airs, and sometimes just board games are held here. You can do whatever you want there, or nothing at all! We also appreciate such relaxation.
In the art gallery we also have an additional space for relaxation, workshops or yoga. So everyone will find the perfect space for themselves.
The garden around is large, so there is a place to rest. We have deckchairs, a few tables where you can eat a meal or drink wine in the shade of trees or in full sun. Or both.
150 m from the house there is a beautiful White Forest, where you can go for a walk, jogging, bicycles or mushrooms. 10 minutes by car from Pracownia there is also a beach on the Narew River, where you can go swimming. And for those who are looking for places to visit, we recommend Pułtusk, located 11 km away, with the longest cobbled market in Europe, a beautiful collegiate church and the Polonia House located in a castle right on the Narew River.
What’s there for children?
We planned that Pracownia Cieńsza would be a place rather for adults. Imagine our surprise when it turned out that the kids had a great time with us. They must be feeling the artistic atmosphere. They have a large area at their disposal, full freedom, a field to show off, run, tap burnt pots and paint with their fingers, and even with their whole hands.
What’s there for employees?
For all those who would like to work with us, a high-speed connection awaits. Thanks to this, you can efficiently do everything you need to enjoy peace and quiet.
