Neither of us Italians, though the name Bonaluti sounds like we heard it on a Roman street. Nothing could be more wrong. The mention of Bonaluti, the highest village in the Izera Foothills (506 m above sea level), is already mentioned in a document from 1305. Until 1810 the whole village belonged to the Benedictine nuns from Lubomierz, it was fenced and locked at night with two gates, so it might be safe, but not very hospitable. Now Grudza, because this is how the village was baptized after the war, is open to anyone who wants to admire the Karkonosze and the Jizera Mountains from their bedroom windows. Lie down under a 300-year-old pear tree, admire the azure water of the post-excavation lake, eat yourself up to your ears with local cheeses, bread and home-made cakes, and most of all take dog therapy with our adopters.
We invite you to a house that does not boast of how old it is, but certainly remembers what happened in the previous century. We have 3 cozy rooms for you, which we have renovated on our own and equipped with furniture with a soul, recycled fabrics, wallpapers with character and sculptures by Jan from Pławna Dolna. Bonaluti is an ideal starting point for exploring Lower Silesia, active recreation, but also a bay where you can run aground and drop anchor. You can live from meal to meal with books from our library and just relax.
We are giving you an over 100-meter cottage for old ladies, with three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen, and a cozy living room with a fireplace. An infrared sauna awaits you here. The cottage is furnished with respect for its history and combined with functional novelty. You will find old furniture in it, bought or found here and there, and renovated by us with all our heart. You will also find several modern devices to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Each room has its own private bathroom, so there is no problem with queuing for the toilet in the morning, even with a larger number of guests. You also do not have to worry about towels, hair dryers, cosmetics or bathrobes. All this is waiting for you on site. And when necessary, you can also use the washing machine and clothes dryer. And of course, you will be able to iron your clothes. In the kitchen you can enjoy excellent coffee from a pressure or drip coffee maker, prepare a snack on the induction hob or heat it up in the microwave and store it in the fridge-freezer. After the meal, the dishwasher will wash the dishes for you, and you can relax by the fireplace playing games, reading or using the whole range of relaxation areas that we have prepared for you.
We will welcome you with all our hearts, in a homely, traditional way, but with a touch of culinary novelties. You will taste local cheeses and cold cuts, sweeten your tea with honey from the neighborhood, and spread our jams on your waffles. Scrambled eggs, of course, only from eggs from happy hens. While sipping local coffee, you will be able to admire the unearthly view of the Jizera Mountains, or read a book selected from the library.
For breakfast and dinner, we invite you to the dining room in our house. The dining room is an oasis of nourishment for the senses. Works of art by famous and unknown artists, as well as extraordinary music flowing from vinyl records, will keep you company during meals.
If you prefer your own kitchen, no problem. In the guest house you will find a fully equipped kitchen, where you can cook to your heart's content. If you want to buy eggs, cheese, cold cuts, bread - we will direct you to the right addresses.
In such an environment full of history, you can't get bored. Even if you don't remember history lessons at school fondly, and the dates evaporate from your mind faster than the content of the readings, here you can experience living history first-hand. A short walk away, in Grudza, we recommend a unique natural monument - a 300-year-old pear tree. Right next to it, you will come across the ruins of an old windmill, which was once a beautiful inn with a clock and a viewing point.
On the other side of the village, at its end, there is a reservoir of the former Basalt mine. The green, azure water of the post-mining lake makes a stunning impression. We don't advise swimming, because we don't know where this color comes from and whether there are any excavators, treasure chests or other secrets sunk at the bottom, but ducks swim. A yellow tourist trail (7.6 km) leading from Rębiszów to Rybnica also runs through our village.
If instead of hiking, you opt for cycling, we have two-wheeled vehicles waiting for you! The Mirsk–Świeradow cycling trail runs through Grudza, and every year a group of cyclists rides through the village at the speed of light as part of the Szklarska Poręba Classic Road Race. If you feel up to it, train for the next season. There are plenty of mountain trails and places worth seeing in the area. We will suggest routes to follow and ready-made maps.
And after the trips, you can relax on the ubiquitous hammocks and deckchairs while reading interesting literature from our library.
For the body, we will offer you:
> a session in the infrared sauna - ideal for sore muscles and recommended for beauty
> a session in the Finnish sauna - warming, detoxifying, a real regenerative madness
> a bath in an open-air jacuzzi - this needs no introduction
> swimming in the outdoor pool - both in summer and winter, because winter swimming combined with a hot bath in the jacuzzi or sauna is a great way to end the day
> body massages - because relaxation and health are the most important
> face massages - because there is always time for beauty :-)
What’s there for children?
We invite you to Bonaluti with young people who know what a rest away from TV is, but close to nature. The truth is that the little ones have nothing to do with us, so we count on guests who are bored with boredom and long for boredom. Dear young people, we are waiting for you with a relaxing atmosphere, omnipresent art, interesting books and Internet access.
What’s there for employees?
Our guests have at their disposal a living room with a fireplace and sofas and armchairs, where, in addition to remote work, you can relax with a view of the Karkonosze panorama. This is a common area for all guests, so silence should also be taken care of together. If your fellow campers are making their video calls too loud, you can always hide in your room and work from bed.
On warmer days, we invite you to work on the terrace, hammock or swing, because a bit of chillout will be useful for everyone.
