Hundreds of years ago, the Norbertines, wanting to lick themselves over to the king, changed the name of Wietrzna Góra to Kazimierz. The adjective "bottom" was added many years later in order not to confuse the (proper) Kazimierz with the Krakow one. For centuries it was a land of milk and honey (and the Vistula). Then the Swedes mixed up a bit with their liking for fires and fires, but in the end Kazimierz still acts as a magnet for history lovers, nature lovers, painters, lovers and the rest.
Krakow may have its own obwarzanki, but only here you can eat a real yeast rooster. You will love the Lublin region with true love, because there is everything that a deceased man needs, a big, smelly city - it smells of greenery and good food, and the sunsets on the Vistula are unmatched. We hope that you will feel in the Limestone House like the former holidaymakers who came here from big cities to rest, regain strength and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
In a completely renovated house, we will accommodate 6 people in 3 double bedrooms and an emergency one additional one in a room to work on a fold-out sofa. Apart from the 3 bedrooms, the house has: a living room with a terrace, a kitchen with a dining table, a pantry and two bathrooms. In the basement you will find utility rooms, i.e. a storage room, a laundry room, a drying room and a boiler room. We have hardwood floors that can creak sometimes - but don't panic - otherwise everything's just fine. In summer, flies or mosquitoes may fall into the house, but popular insecticides will do the trick. Do not worry about tourist traffic (even in high season), because we are located in a district located higher than the center - and here all the noise is much lower.
Everyone can find an angle just for themselves on the plot, because it is over 1000 square meters. Next to the conservatory, there is a large southern stone terrace with a pergola and a comfortable seating set where we often sip afternoon coffee or eat lunch. From the kitchen side, we invite you to a small northern terrace with a descent to a plot mostly covered with grass and hydrangeas (popular in Kazimierz gardens). In the garden you will also find some old trees: apple trees, walnuts and plums, which you can eat while resting.
There is a parking space on the plot for a maximum of 4 cars.
In addition to good moods, also pack a chef, because you rule the house undivided - you also cook yourself. You can do your shopping at the market in Kazimierz Market Square (Tuesdays and Fridays in the morning) - you can walk from the house in 10 minutes. The market is small and only local products are there: fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, local honey and other products. In the kitchen you will find everything you need to prepare meals - both breakfasts, lunches eaten on the terrace and dinners.
Of course, there are various restaurants in the area, we especially recommend a few of them: Przystanek Korzeniowa, Akuku, Zielona Tawerna, Bar Weranda (very simple, Polish, tasty and cheap food), Knajpa Artystyczna, Pizzeria Oregana. If you get hungry in Janowiec, be sure to eat at Maćkowa Chata. The fish restaurant Pustelnia is also very tasty, offering fish grown in their ponds. For delicatessen products, we will send you a little further, to Opole Lubelskie (20 km from Kazimierz) - but you will not regret it. Be sure to try the local yeast cocks with which there is a legend.
It is worth taking part in the annual festival of local liqueurs as well as in the wine fair - held in Janowiec in autumn - on the other bank of the Vistula opposite Kazimierz (access by ferry).
It is not without reason that Kazimierz Dolny is called the "pearl of the Polish Renaissance" - history enthusiasts will be lost for long hours walking between monuments from the 17th century, richly decorated tenement houses and churches. It is worth visiting the Synagogue from 1536, Jatki and Willa Pod Wiewiórką. Artists and art lovers can go wild in the surrounding galleries (there are over 60 of them here!) Or set up easels and paint outdoors.
There are plenty of walking and cycling routes in Kazimierz Dolny. We are located in the Landscape Park with a very diverse structure. It is worth taking a walk through one of the numerous loess gorges, i.e. beautiful, deep corridors formed by nature in the hills. The house is located not far from the famous gorges: Korzeniowy, Norowy and Saint Francis. On the route of the Czerniawy Gorge there is a Jewish cemetery with a monument modeled on the Jerusalem Wailing Wall. We have a map of gorges for you - there are about 40 of them here and at least some of them are worth visiting. It is worth following the Vistula route to the village of Męćmierz and further to Skarpa Dobrska. In nice weather, you must take the ferry to Janowiec and see the ruins of the castle and the beautiful garden outside the castle. It is worth checking the calendar of events in Janowiec - atmospheric music concerts are often organized there. Wisła itself provides various recreational opportunities: you can go canoeing, rent a boat or go to the Janowicki Lagoon and fry on the beach.
And besides, we recommend you to visit us, especially when one of the sensational festivals is taking place: the National Festival of Folk Bands and Singers, Folk Art Fairs, Summer Music Evenings, Festival of Kazimiernikejszyn or the Film and Art Festival "Two Riversides".
At home, there is wifi, a loudspeaker and two bikes that will be fine on the way to the store.
What’s there for children?
Our house is not adapted to the needs of babies. We do not have cots, high chairs or other amenities. In addition, the railing is openwork and children's walks require constant supervision. We invite you with the elderly and young people. It is worth taking bikes for the whole family, because the local surroundings encourage you to organize cycling trips. Najfajniesza runs from Kazimierz to Mięćmierz - the "Norowy Dół" educational trail. Along the way, we admire the historical granaries, the Nature Museum and the "Norowy Dół" itself. The path will also reach the ruins of the castle, accompanied by a panorama of the Lesser Poland Gorge of the Vistula. It is worth it. binoculars).
It is worth taking a walk with the kids along the nearby gorges, taking a cruise on the Vistula River (during such an hour-long trip we will see an old fishing village, the ruins of the castle in Janów and a windmill in Mięćmierz). Not to be in Kazimierz and not to visit the Kazimierz Museum of Lego Blocks is a sin! In the Museum you can admire the adventures of Harry Potter or see the Disney castle entirely made of Lego bricks.
