Hi, we are contemporary popowianists, i.e. lovers of the popowo land. We write contemporaries, because already in the 1920s the club of popovarians was numerous and active. In 1929, Teodor Bursze designed the plan of the new Popowo Letnisko, a garden city, which was to serve Warsaw residents as a springboard from the capital rush. It is thanks to the architect's innovative idea that the layout of the small village, on the edge of the Biała Forest, is so unique. The central point of Popowo is a circular square, from which eight roads run radially, along which plots are located. In the 1930s, they were purchased by merchants from the most distant parts of Poland looking for clean air, rest in the bosom of nature, peace, quiet and access to rivers. At that time, the first, very few villas, a casino, sports grounds, a swimming pool on the Narew River and a power plant were also built. Well, a real spa and summer resort. Unfortunately, the development of the village was hampered by the outbreak of World War II, many buildings were destroyed, and after the war, the garden-city project was not resumed.
However, we still play green and praise Popowo Letnisko to friends and strangers. Our two houses reflecting nature, are located at the fork of the Bug and Narew rivers, among pine and birch forests. Living here, as the name suggests, is a summer resort. You can come here alone or in pairs. Take a yoga mat, bicycle or collection of books. Be sure to take your pets and go. For forest aromatherapy, SUP swimming, evenings by the fireplace and barefoot walks on the litter.
Well, where, in the forest? With a view of the forest, with the smell of the forest, with pine cones under your feet and neighbors with squirrels. Here, in the Popowo forest, on the edge of the White Forest, among the pines, there are two wooden houses created for soothing trips for two or for a single escapade away from everyday city life and everyday mediocrity. Each on a separate fenced plot surrounded by forest.
There is only one window in the house, but it is a full-length window. From the bedroom, living room and kitchen you will have an unobstructed view of the rows of trees. The free sounds of nature, wild hares and deer, and no neighbors in the windows.
Each house consists of a ground floor and a mezzanine. Downstairs there is a living room with a sofa connected to the kitchen, a library wall with books, a fireplace and a bathroom with a shower. Quite steep stairs lead to the mezzanine. This is where you will sleep. The bedroom has a double bed and a huge window with only a view of greenery. The houses differ mainly in size. One is 35 m2 and the other 50 m2, so it can also accommodate an additional third person.
We encourage you to relax outdoors - here you can read books on the terrace, barbecue or simply take a nap in our comfortable hammocks. In winter you can build snowmen, go cross-country skiing or go for a long walk with your dog. In ForRest Cabin 50 you will also have at your disposal an outdoor sauna (for an additional fee of PLN 100), accessed by a wooden bridge.
We decorated the houses ourselves, as if for ourselves, but for you. It's cozy and homely, there are souvenirs from our travels, carefully selected accessories, interesting books and albums, and all the necessary equipment and amenities. In addition, of course, we also have things that may not be needed, but are certainly nice to have, for example a Nespresso coffee machine, the Internet, a coffee grinder, a toaster, a citrus juicer or a grill on the terrace. A unique element are the original Norwegian Jotul goats, which will warm you like the best hot water bottle in winter. Of course, we provide the wood - you just have to remember to add it to the fire from time to time.
The area around the house is surrounded by a fence, so your dogs can roam as much as they want. So take your pets with you (we can provide bedding). They will be happy in the forest. As much space to run around and as many sticks as possible. We have two dogs ourselves and we know from experience how much they love life in the forest.
After each stay, we professionally disinfect the cottages (for our own and subsequent guests' safety and comfort). We have professional equipment from Qlive and we use natural products whose active substances are patented aXonnite Rescue Q-silver nanoparticles, produced based on standardized technological processes.
Self check-in.
Take some food with you, because here in the forest when you want a cake, a baguette with butter, oatmeal or pudding, you won't go to the store in slippers. The nearest one is 3.5 km away, so you can walk, drive or bike. However, each option requires advance planning. Once you have stocked up, make yourself comfortable in our kitchen. It is small, but it has everything you need - a two-burner hob, a small fridge, a coffee maker, a nespresso coffee machine, a coffee grinder, a toaster, a citrus squeezer and a grill on the terrace in the summer.
We can satisfy your thirst for nature with natural, healthy products from local suppliers. We also have access to ready-made homemade meals. You can place an order for honey, jams, fruit juices, cheeses, eggs or beetroot sourdough - all produced using traditional methods. You can also order ready-made meals prepared by a friendly hostess, which will be waiting for you in the fridge on the day of your arrival. After making a reservation, you will get a number from us.
If you want to go hunting for local flavors yourself, there is a farmer's market in Serock on Saturday and Wednesday, where you can buy vegetables, fruits, eggs, cold meats, blackberry, soap and jam, as it is at markets.
There are also the nearest restaurants in Serock. Below you will find verified addresses.
On the edge of the White Forest, in the summer resort of Popowo, life is excellent. Surrounded by pine trees, with essential oils in the air and with wind protection in the form of tall trees, we hide from the world. Here you can walk 10,000 steps without any problems, because the paths draw you in like a good book and take you to clearings, in search of heather carpets and blueberries.
If laziness is your favorite activity, you've come to the right place! You can read books without guilt, steal time for naps, listen to the birds singing and practice yoga on the terrace (bring your mats with you). If sitting still is hard work for you, you will be happy to know that there are plenty of attractions here, near Warsaw. The Biała Forest is an amazing place for running and walking, and the surrounding bicycle routes run through beautiful forests, meadows and along the banks of the Narew River. If you are a fan of road cycling, there are also many great, empty and smooth asphalt roads in the area, on which we regularly ride and we will be happy to share the routes from our GPS with you.
There is also a stud farm nearby, and kayaking trips are organized on the nearby rivers. In the summer, you can borrow a SUP from us, and we will show you the most picturesque and wild sections of the Narew and Bug rivers, without a guide, in the wild, with a backpack and sandwiches - such a trip is a great idea for a hot afternoon!
We try to avoid Zegrze, because it is known that this is where the entire capital flows, but wild parts of the rivers, the Old Bug, Lake Przerzaniec, i.e. the old Wieprz river bed, are places that will not disappoint you.
Interestingly, the Warsaw "water tram" runs to Serock (5-6 km from us), so if you insist, you can ride your bike to us across the river from the capital!
Of course, it's also worth seeing:
- Stawinoga Nature Reserve, where you can see birds that you have never even heard of, e.g. curlews, corncrakes, common moorhens, green moorhens, spotted warblers, water warblers, reed warblers, sea buckthorns, common warblers, bluethroats, red-billed sandpipers, sandpipers, and snipes. snipes, black-tailed godwits.
- Szaniawskiego Gorge Reserve - you can get here by bike, because the gorge is located on the yellow bicycle trail - Serocki trail. Near the gorge there is a forgotten park with the remains of the Szaniawski manor house. The famous writer's house stood on the banks of the Narew River, and later Lake Zegrze, and unfortunately it burned down seven years after the writer's death.
- Bug and Narew from a cycling perspective - choose the blue eastern Łacha-Łacha trail. The route is 17.8 km long and is extremely picturesque. It runs through forests and along rivers, and you can join it from Popowo.
We cooperate with Mazovian Wildlife, which organizes trips to nearby areas - the Bug Valley, the White Forest and the Lower Narew Valley - often to wild, inaccessible places that provide shelter for thousands of species of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. We will send you a detailed offer after booking.
