Would you like to know what Shambron has to do with Schönbrunn Palace? Nothing at first glance. And not even the second or tenth. And don't look for any architectural gems or visits from important rulers - we just warn you not to be disappointed. But in order for you to find something in common at all, we will draw you for a moment into the history of the village occupied in the northern part of the Levočské vrchy. Once upon a time, in the 14th century, King Louis I donated this area in the Plavnický valley to the peasant Jakub. And once upon a time, this piece of land was called the Black Spring. Yes, yes, we are approaching a small, clever conclusion. And a spring as a spring, in the 15th - 16th century they managed to call the village "Schonbrunn" (Nice Spring)! By adapting the name, Shambron was created and the mystery is revealed. So really don't wait for Maria Theresa or Sisi here.

But since these precious ladies were just resting in Schönbrunn, you should also rest in Shambron. We took a break here "after ours". We don't have a castle here, but a wooden house. So real, made of wood, with high thresholds, with tiled stoves and with a wooden tub! And sleeping, ah. Better than you'd expect - the scent of herbs and buckwheat from the pillow under your head will fluctuate in your dream. So to sum it up, maybe not golden handles, silver cutlery and luxury at every step, but for the traditional Slovak roots, the ground under bare feet and a real rest so "royally" on our own.

Although our cottage does not look like the Grandfather's evening, we believe that you will also have a fabulous time in it. Good and comfortable. We have reconstructed it so that it retains its appearance as faithfully as possible, but so that you do not have to give up your comfort. So there will be no lack of heat or running water.
Get to know our wooden house and start from the bathroom, where a great wooden bathtub (and not only that one) awaits you. If you would like a little bathing, there is a tub outside in the yard.

But let's stay inside - there are 2 more tiled stoves where you can both hang out and warm up. On a jam. Do you still remember how well it sits and sleeps?
Well, in addition, there are 2 bedrooms - one bedroom for a couple (2 persons) and the second bedroom for 6 persons (1x double bed, 4x single beds). And there are 2 extra beds on the sofa bed. So we can accommodate 10 people. In addition to bedrooms and bathrooms, there is also a kitchen and a room with a TV upstairs.

Be careful - the stairs are steep and we have high thresholds!

In our cottage there are 2 tiled stoves and in the kitchen on one of them, you can try cooking. In addition, there is a ceramic hob, microwave, kettle and fridge, where you can store all your supplies.

We don't want to force anything on you, God forbid, but we were immediately attacked by potato loins at that oven ... yummy. But whatever you decide to feed all your stomachs with, there is room for everyone in the kitchen behind the table. And he will definitely not only eat well, but also drink coffee and talk about anything pleasant.

We are thinking about which side to start here... and when you don't know, take a walk. Behind the fence, there are only fields and forests far and wide. You probably won't find anything better to clear your head than a leisurely walk. And maybe during it you will think of things you would like to do.

For example, go on a history trip to the nearby Ľubovnian Castle, under which there is an open-air museum of folk architecture. See for yourself the old mill, the church, old houses and estates, game reserve. And all these houses will seem like small ants when viewed from the top of the castle tower. The tour of the Ľubovnian castle may be a bit longer than you are used to, but... you will learn that the Slovak adventurer and writer Móric Beňovský, the first European to sail across the Pacific Ocean and the first king of the united Madagascar, was once imprisoned here. Or the fact that in ancient times they hid the Polish crown jewels here.

Once it is at the castle in Stara Ľubovna, you will not be far from the castle in Niedzica near our Polish neighbors or the Czorsztyn Dam. Such a picnic somewhere on a hill overlooking the lake is priceless.

It is also worth going to Lačnov to explore the attractions of our region, where the illusion of the eye will convince you that there is no gravity in this place. At the turn in another direction, go to the Zlá diera cave, where you can safely take the children, they will have a great experience of the cave, helium and lighting with cave flashlights.

If you love fishing and would like to catch something, try Rožkovianske rybníky (don't forget the permit) or head to Pstruhárna Kolačkov, where you can catch your own lunch on a fishing rod.

But let's go back to the wooden house. Here in the embrace of the Levočské vrchy, you can easily plan a hike to the Pieniny Mountains, the Tatras or even to the Slovak Paradise. They may be a little further, but it's also worth the trip. However, we believe that you will not despise the hills that we have in our surroundings.

Well, there's still our outdoor tub and tempting relaxation in it ;)

Feel free to take them with you! They may not have computers here, but they won't remember them after running around in the fresh air all day. In every season of the year, they have room to frolic - in the summer, go on a trip together to the forest, in the fall, to pick mushrooms, and in the winter, make a toboggan run with obstacles on the hill.
They can help you while cooking in the kitchen, and sitting on a jam will definitely be an experience for them.
