Before her birth, I climbed the highest mountains in the world, rowed kayaks on the sea, organized mountaineering expeditions, and Jędrek was on tour. When Dagna appeared in the world, we wanted to slow down. This is how we ended up here, in Marianówka, by chance, which turned out to be destiny. The House of Geologist (professor of the University of Wrocław - Jerzy Don) from 1892 gained new hosts, and we got a new life. Now we live in the Śnieżnik Massif, which is my favorite part of the Sudetes. Well, you admit that it just had to be. In my new life, I love that I can host you in the interiors that I have pampered, share my knowledge about the region, show you our favorite activities, put my daughter to sleep in a trailer on ski tours in winter, and go to my neighbor for eggs or a mechanic in Bystrzyca to go Nordic skiing. It is this unhurried life, surrounded by mountains, that I want to share with you.
We invite you to a house that creaks and spreads laughter, which needs to be heated by adding wood to the stove, which is hard to reach in winter, and then you return to the city with a heavy heart. Take your friends and make yourself comfortable in Kotlin, see you soon.
Where will I rest?
The house is located on a large area with a vegetable and fruit garden, herbarium, parking lot, orchard, fireplace, etc. It is about 3320 square meters. In addition, we have 75 hectares of meadows, which, however, are not directly connected to the area where the house is located - you have to walk about 500 meters to reach our meadows.
We have the whole house at your disposal, i.e. 5 rooms of different sizes for up to 11 people.
1. Ground floor room with a double bed (140 cm).
2. Upstairs room with a double bed (160 cm).
3. Upstairs room with two single beds.
4. Upstairs room with one double bed (180 cm) + double sofa bed (140 cm).
5. Upstairs room with a single antique bed (approx. 180 cm long and 110 cm wide).
Moreover:
Three fully equipped bathrooms (two with shower and toilet, one with bath, shower and toilet). Two bathrooms are located on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
Living-dining room on the ground floor, equipped with a large table for 10 people, a fireplace and armchairs. A lounge on the first floor, with comfortable sofas and armchairs - ideal for conversations or family games.
The kitchen on the ground floor - with access to the terrace and an idyllic view of the mountains - is fully equipped with beautiful tableware and all cooking utensils.
There is also a washing machine on the ground floor for your use.
Although it is a holiday home, we also invite you to workation! We have LTE internet distributed via Wi-Fi. Therefore, it can be capricious, with heavy rainfall and strong winds, the internet gets wet and disperses - it can be weaker. The average speed of our internet is: download in Mb/s 10.16, upload in Mb/s 4.918. As a rule, it is possible to conduct a video call with us on a webcam. Certainly enough for sending and receiving e-mails, browsing websites and sending small attachments. The best working conditions are in the right room (table and 3 chairs) and the professor's room (table and 1 chair). Throughout the day you can use our lounge / dining room (we have a large table and 10 chairs), space on the terrace (large table with space for 10 people) and in the garden (chairs and hammocks).
And now a few stones in the shoe, which is the charm of living in an old country house, but for some of you it may be an inconvenience:
- Smoking in stoves and carrying wood in winter and the fact that in order to keep the rooms warm, they must be left open during the day. So far, guests have been delighted with the atmosphere created by our Norwegian and tiled stoves.
- Access to the house via a gravel road. In winter, there may be a problem with leaving (6 meters of height difference), but it happens rarely and we have several tried and tested ways to do it.
- During the snowmelt, the road and the driveway can be muddy.
- The neighbor's dogs, which are friendly and sociable, sometimes appear in our garden.
- The house is old and the floors and ceilings are wooden - you can hear the patter of feet and the slamming of doors.
Dogs are welcome with us, provided that the dog etiquette is maintained. Pets are only allowed on the ground floor. We ask them not to sleep on armchairs, sofas, or - even more so - in beds. Dog waste left on our premises must be cleaned up on a regular basis.
What will I eat?
Those who like to cook know that cooking for and with friends on trips creates bonds that cannot be created in restaurants. We have the most charming kitchen for you - with access to a large wooden terrace with an uninterrupted view of the mountains. Naturally, the kitchen is fully equipped with tableware and all necessary cooking equipment. There is a large fridge and freezer, dishwasher, electric hob, oven and microwave. Additionally, you can smoke in a wood-fired tiled kitchen - there is no better scrambled egg than the one prepared on a wood-fired plate. You will eat at a large farmer's table, where all the guests can fit. There is also an intimate table in the kitchen for early risers and early breakfast enthusiasts.
In the kitchen you will find basic products such as sugar, flour, cocoa and a large selection of spices. Jędrek is a "tea maker" and Agna is a "coffee lover". Together we can appreciate both the taste of good, freshly ground coffee and aromatic leaf tea. That is why the kitchen is also equipped with coffee or tea and all the accessories necessary to celebrate their preparation. On site you can also buy unusual homemade preserves of vegetables and fruit from our eco-garden. Choose from a variety of chutneys, bbq sauces, and oriental sauces!
We recommend the proven pubs in the area below.
Will I not be bored?
If you want to be bored, you can be bored with us. There are many places around the house where you can lie down or sit with an idyllic view of the mountains and grazing Hutsuls, you can read books by the fireplace or sunbathe on the terrace. There are several strategically placed hammocks in the garden. And on cloudless evenings, with the help of the host (and under his watchful eye), you can view the stars and planets with a telescope. Marianówka is located in a privileged part of the Kłodzko Land, where the diversity and richness of the area is at your fingertips. In the evenings, around the bonfire, the host sometimes accompanies the guests singing and playing the darabuka guitar, and the hostess tells stories about polar bears and Himalayan peaks.
The immediate vicinity of the Geologist's House is a paradise for active people. In summer, bicycles, especially the longest single tracks in Europe, for which the region is famous. Singletrack Glaciensis is a mountain biker's paradise. One-way loops for large and smaller cyclists lead through the most beautiful mountain areas and provide a large dose of adrenaline. For those who prefer recreational trips on asphalt roads, we have plenty of picturesque roads with low traffic between villages at the foot of the Śnieżnik Massif. And for adrenaline addicts, new bike parks in Czarna Góra, Zieleniec and Dolni Morava.
We also have plenty for climbers. Literally right under your nose is the area of Trzy Kopki and Trollinki, which offer insured roads, both summer and winter, in gneiss rocks. Pasterskie Skały, at a similar distance, is made of coarse-grained conglomerates - it is an option for more advanced climbers, with a large selection of quite difficult routes. The Shepherd Rocks are also worth visiting if rock climbing is not your thing - it is an extremely picturesque place, steeped in legends. Motorized climbers can also choose between Skały Lądeckie (a large selection of winter routes in Lutynia) and the area in Szczytna, insured sandstone, both of these areas offer routes of varying difficulty.
The Śnieżnik Massif offers numerous tourist trails. For experienced tourists who are not afraid of long mountain hikes, at least four loops of the tourist trails from Marianówka to Marianówka through Śnieżnik or through Śnieżnik and Czarna Góra are possible, but these are full-day trips for the persistent. For those who prefer shorter hikes, I recommend looping the tourist trails to Śnieżnik from Międzygórze or Kamienica, or combining visiting the Bear Cave with climbing Śnieżnik from Kletno. Be sure to visit the shelter. It was built by Marianna Orańska as a barn for a herd of Swiss cows. For those who like mountain hiking in silence and solitude, we have several original trips completely off the trails and we know how to make sure you don't get lost.
We cannot fail to mention cross-country skiing, our favorite winter activity. The Bystrzyca Kłodzka commune has snow groomers for making trails and fantastic cross-country trails in Spalona, and CETIK Stronie Śląskie, in cooperation with the Czech side, is preparing one of the longest systems of cross-country trails in Poland. Beginners can try this sport on the meadows near the house. We have several pairs of cross-country skis at guests' disposal, and I - Agna - like to mark trails in the field on my Nordic skis. The Śnieżnik Massif is attractive to ski tourers in winter. And we know what routes to recommend to beginners and the more advanced.
We also recommend rafting or kayaking on Nysa Kłodzka, and visiting Bardo, where the rafting ends. If you come to us during hot weather, you can swim in Szklarzynka in Marianówka or in Wilczka in Międzygórze, or go to the Czech Republic to the town of Pastviny and cool down there in a beautiful reservoir created on a mountain river, or to Stara Morawa, where you will find a guarded swimming area in the reservoir. . For lovers of downhill skiing, literally behind the border, i.e. behind the Puchaczówka pass, there is Czarna Góra and a little further Zieleniec and Dolni Morawa on the Czech side, where we also recommend the "Mountain Amusement Park" in summer, that is: a walk in the clouds, the longest suspension bridge in Europe and a mammoth roller coaster, and for kids there is a huge playground with rafts and a rope park.
On the first evening, we practice a "farm visit" to our guests and then, depending on their needs and interests, we share our secret knowledge about the area - Agna is a Sudetes Guide, we suggest short and long trips off the beaten track and along the trails. We have a large collection of trails on maps in applications, which we are happy to share with guests - so you definitely won't get lost!
What else to see:
Międzygórze - Alps in the Sudetes, a Swiss-style resort, 3 km on foot from us. It's a must-see, as they say.
Bystrzyca Kłodzka - a town located on a steep slope, like in Tuscany, and, rather unlike in Tuscany, a bit neglected. Surrounded by medieval walls, it has two market squares, a beautiful town hall and a philumenic museum. We like them very much.
Kamieniec Ząbkowicki - a castle built on a grand scale in the 19th century by Marianna Orańska. Soviet troops burned it down and it was recently rebuilt. Lower Silesia, as you probably know, is full of castles and palaces - this one is one of the largest.
Wilkanów - in the palace (now in ruins), the Germans kept a priceless library during WWII, plundered from the Hasidic community in St. Petersburg - after the occupation of Lower Silesia by Soviet troops, the library was taken back to Russia and legal disputes are still ongoing over it between Jews from the USA and Russia.
Krzeszów - the widow of Henryk Pobożny founded a Cistercian monastery here in the mid-thirteenth century, which, despite reconstructions, many twists and turns and unfavorable winds of history, has survived to this day and is one of the greatest examples of Baroque architecture in Europe.
Palace in Gorzanów - A castle complex from the 16th century, the ancestral seat of the Herberstein family for almost 300 years. There you will see wonderful wall decorations, wooden polychromes, unique stuccowork and a unique court theater - currently the Gorzanów Palace Foundation sometimes organizes performances there, and the palace park, which is one of the first baroque garden complexes in Silesia.
What’s there for children?
In the garden, they not only sleep, they also prance at will. We have swings, hammocks, a house, a sandbox and a mud kitchen for kids. We are constantly inventing something new - our three-year-old daughter and her four-year-old cousin and six-year-old cousin who visit us from time to time are our inspiration. They have 100 ideas per minute and inspire us to create new attractions. Behind the fence, the main stars are grazing horses, and you can get on the saddle at a friendly stud. There are also singletracks for smaller and bigger cyclists in the area.
After arranging the dates, we have a bicycle and cross-country trailer for rent (we often use it ourselves) for one child aged: from independent sitting up to 25 kilos and two ergonomic slings and one on a frame for a larger child.
We also provide 2 cots for small children or an extra bed for a larger child in the form of a camp bed and 2 high chairs for feeding.

Bardzo przyjemne miejsce. Można aktywnie i zwiedzać okolice obfitujące w ciekawe miejsca.

Wszyscy szukający spokoju i ciszy powinni tu trafić. To wszystko należy spotęgować przez postaci gospodarzy - nietuzinkowych, kolorowych i inspirujących, Wad nie stwierdzono, zalet cała masa. Do zobaczenia wkrótce.

Można (a zdecydowanie warto!) tu wracać częściej, odkrywać co rusz to inne atrakcje, widoki, historię okolic, słuchać opowieści Gospodarzy o wyprawach górskich tych bliskich i baaardzo odległych, pić poranną kawę podziwiając widoki zza okna. Było cudownie, wesoło i ciekawie. Serdecznie dziękuję i polecam.

Zdecydowanie polecamy!

Bez wątpienia najważniejszą siłą wspomnień powinno być to, żeby głaskały. Wspomnienie tego wyjazdu z pewnością będzie nas właśnie głaskać. Jeśli szukasz miejsca na uboczu, z oszałamiającym, uroczo niestabilnym z powodu pogody i światła widokiem, jedź tam. Jeśli od restauracyjnych sztamp pstrągowo - para/patogóralskich wolisz sobie w gronie najbliższych posiedzieć przy ognisku, grillu, pogotować coś wspólnie, to jedź tam. Jeśli szukasz bazy wypadowej do klasycznego, oldschoolowego połażenia po tych cudnych okolicach, jedź tam. Jeśli masz ciągoty do miejsc z duszą i lubisz od przekroczenia progu poczuć, jakbyś wszedł do domu, który Ci coś milcząco opowiada, jedź tam. Lato w Domu Geologa mam zaliczone. Znalazłem punkt styku między Domem Geologa i kurortami all inclusive w Hurghadzie.
