Do you know that there is a place in Poland where you can watch turtles and where ermines pass under the long legs of the Elk? Does it know where exactly Narew, Biebrza and Pisa compete for the audience award among canoeists? We are a bit praised and we will say that the Titanic passengers enjoyed beer from the local brewery and that there is a labyrinth of underground dungeons hiding secrets of the war nearby. Well, we will not reveal all the cards and we will invite you to Ostoja Narwiańska, where Mazovia and Podlasie meet for much more!
We still have a few tricks up our sleeve, such as: an amazing view from the window, bicycle routes like a dream, a sky full of stars and sunrises that the rest of Poland envies us. The only thing left for us to do is invite you to our place, to the former Kurpie region, for a first-class rest!
A two-level house is designed for 6 people. We focused on minimalism and functionality, which is why we do not have many walls and separate bedrooms. The house has an open space, on the ground floor: a living room with a corner sofa bed, a kitchen, access to the terrace and a bathroom, and on the first floor: a double bed and a smaller one, from which a drawer with an additional mattress can be pulled out. We have a travel cot for babies.
We have designed open rooms with fans of good design and unconventional solutions in mind (when designing our house, we did not forget about the proximity of Kurpie, which is why we have incorporated elements of characteristic Kurpie cutouts into the minimalist space). We also took care of natural light and closeness to nature - the glass facade allows you to fall asleep and wake up with a view of the forest.
There is wifi all over the house with good enough range for remote work. Inside the house, the phone, unfortunately, has no coverage and to talk - you have to go outside. You can take your pet with you (please remember about bedding, because we do not want the animals to sleep on a bed or sofa) - but the plot is not fenced. Sometimes the smell of the countryside will reach us from the fields, but the vast majority of them are the aromas of the forest and meadows.
A kitchen at your disposal, with all necessary tentegeses and windstorms needed to prepare delicious meals. However, if you do not do the shopping, or you do not want to invent missiles - there is a rescue. In Piątnica (about 7 km from the cottage) there is a local bakery with fresh bread, in Łomża it is worth going to the Spokojna Restaurant (delicious, regional dishes) or to the Labirynt Restaurant. For dessert, we recommend the Romanowscy Patisserie.
Additionally, every Sunday in Łomża there is a "mini market" where farmers come and sell their vegetables, fruit, flowers, etc. In the summer season, we can provide apples and pears straight from our orchard. You can do eco shopping in the eco food store Eco Logika on ul. Księżnej Anny 6E (organic food, vegan and gluten-free products, natural cosmetics, herbs, etc.).
We will honestly say that you come to us to rest. We are not planning to buy a TV or karaoke equipment, because we know that silence is the most important thing for visitors. We are far enough from large cities to get a good night's sleep, catch a distance and breathe fully (after all, we are in the Green Lungs of Poland), but close enough to visit us even for a few moments (140 km from Warsaw, 13 km from Łomża ) - the plan for a weekend getaway from the city was not so simple and achievable for a long time. However, we cannot promise that you will want to come back after such a weekend.
If you miss contact with nature, be sure to go to the Łomża Landscape Park of the Narew Valley, which is beautiful both in leafless spring and in colorful autumn. The local backwaters, meandering river, forests, hills and the ubiquitous greenery are breathtaking. The lucky ones can see ermines, turtles and beautiful kingfishers. If you visit us in the spring, the overflowing river creates a lake that adds extra charm to the place. The Green Lungs of Poland is the perfect place to reconnect with nature. The proximity of the Biebrza National Park and the Łomża Landscape Park are our greatest assets.
For trips, we recommend you to go to Drozdowo (Museum of Nature with an aquarium exhibition and the Lutosławski Manor), to Piątnica (tsarist forts), to Zambrów (barracks) and necessarily to Łomża to hunt amazing murals and to sit on the bench of Hanka Bielicka! The must-see is also the Kurpie Open Air Museum in Nowogród, i.e. the Kurpiowski Open-Air Museum and the Kurpie Museum in Wach with the largest collection of Kurpie material culture.
Cyclists also have their piece of paradise here, it is worth taking your equipment and exploring the closer and more distant surroundings by bike. Especially noteworthy are the routes: Around the Łomża Landscape Park of the Narew Valley (50 km), which can be extended by another 20 km and travel through the historically strategic Wizna. The longest fragment of Green Velo - the eastern bicycle route - also passes in the area. It is worth going to Zambrów and Łomża. Łomża and its surroundings delight with opportunities to spend time outdoors. We recommend you go kayaking on the Narew River (to Nowogród or Krzew) and Biebrza (e.g. to Wizna or the Fortress in Osowiec).
If you miss sports, there are two swimming pools in Łomża, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a climbing wall and tennis courts.
What’s there for children?
All our children are ours! And they are welcome here. For the little ones, we have a manipulation board and a scooter / ride-on. Currently, we have rolled up our sleeves to build a house in the garden for the kids and create their own kingdom.
In the area, it is worth going with the kids for a walk in the forest, kayaking or looking for turtles and slowworms. In nearby Łomża, there are playgrounds, playgrounds, swimming pools and a climbing wall.
It is worth getting older kids interested in the Kurpie culture and taking them to one of the several open-air museums and museums, we especially recommend the Kurpie Open-Air Museum in Nowogród. In more distant Białystok, it is worth visiting Fabryka Misia and creating your own cuddly toy. Tykocin, in turn, is worth visiting because of the Stork Village, and Puszczykka for the amazing Indian Village.
We have also prepared a travel cot, high chair, and on request, we can also install a safety gate for the stairs.
