Anyone who spends at least 8 hours a day in front of the screen should receive weekly forest therapy. Why? Because the screen affects only two of our senses - sight and hearing, and the forest - all five. Birds and wind music for the ears, relaxing colors for the eyes, aromatherapy for the smell, touch of sunlight and twigs for the body, seasonal forest delicacies for taste. Our brain absorbs those fully positive signals like a sponge and then calms down and restores a healthy balance. And you wish You could stay here even longer ... What if there was an escape hut where it is safe and warm and the windows were so big that the connection with the forest would not be interrupted for more than a minute?
If you have always dreamed of staying overnight in the middle of the forest; if you are looking for a place to hide from technology for at least a few days and feel the life of nature with all your senses - our cottage on the eastern edge of Labanoras Regional Park is waiting for you. Believe me: the forest recovers 100%.
We welcome guests at all seasons.
This place is located in Molėtai district, Labanoras regional park. It is a lonely cottage in the woods, perfect for a cozy stay for two, nothing more is presented around and there are no more vacationers. Next to the pond, 15-20 minutes walk along the road - a large and beautiful Lake Kertuojus.
Forest from the sides, forest overhead ... The windows are designed so that the forest is always in front of your eyes. The area of 20 sq.m. has a cozy lounge with a fireplace and pallet sofas with lots of pillows - a real afternoon-relax corner. Here you can take a sweet nap with a book in your hands, have a quiet chat over coffee or just relax listening to crackling firewood.
There is a kitchenette in the depths of the cottage, and above it a double bedroom mattress on the small mezzanine floor. This space is also open, securely separated from the living room by a partition. Thanks to the roof window, skylight stays here for the longest time, even when you fall asleep you can observe the life of the forest and count the stars. The bedroom can only be reached by a wooden ladder.
When coming with children, there is a possibility to change the sleeping places - someone alone could sleep downstairs on the sofa-bed. The hosts take care of the bed linen, but You should bring towels with You.
There is a chest of drawers, several lockers and a place for hanging clothes.
There is a toilet inside. It is planned to install a shower cabin with a boiler, be sure to ask the owners before driving.
To prevent mosquitoes and other unsolicited guests from falling into the house, the entrance door is covered with a transparent curtain-type mesh that provides the best protection when it is closed.
The cottage has a kitchen with connection to the water (so far - only cold) and a gas stove. There is a kettle, 4 cups, dishes, pots, cutlery. You will find drinking water for the entire stay, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, spices. There is no fridge yet (ask the hosts).
There is a fireplace right next to the terrace, suitable for both boiling water and grilling sausages or fish. Firewood is provided free of charge by the hosts.
We recommend bringing some food with you enoygh for a few days. The nearest village shop is in Inturkė village, 5.5 km away. The nearest Maxima is in Molėtai (16 km).
And what if you don’t want to cook for yourself and would like to taste Labanor’s cuisine? The nearest recommended cafe is "Vilkasalė" in Mindūnai (by bike via Rudesa village - 11 km). Travelers say there are delicious potato pancakes, eel soup and homemade kvass.
First of all, this cottage is for those who are looking for a quiet rest. For those who are not tired of watching the sunset, admiring the trees drowned in the fog, listening to the cranes' calls. Make Yourself comfortably on the terrace (there is some outdoor furniture there) or in the hammock, or on a swing among the trees.
In the evening, when the weather cools down, it’s fun to make hot tea and light a campfire. In the cottage you will find chess, various board games and books. Candles can be lit to create a cozy atmosphere, but it is important to follow safety precautions and make sure that flowing wax does not get on furniture, rugs or shoulders.
If you like fishing, you can try it in a small pond just opposite the house (bring the rod it with you).
There is entertainment also for those who don’t stay in one place for long.
2 km from the cottage begins the beautiful shore of Lake Kertuojai, with thick pine trees, golden birches and a wide strip of sand. The lake is shallow, clear, fishy (one can fish bream, sturgeon and eel there). Remote areas by the lake are usually only accessible from the water. When you arrive, don’t forget to ask the hosts where the canoe is kept, with which you can dive into the lake and look for for the secret lovers' hideaways:).
On the other shore of the lake there is the mound of Kertuoja, a witness to the beginning of our era. From the highest point of the hill You'll see a green-blue panorama of the surroundings. You can climb to a height of 12 meters with a steep wooden staircase. If you have no fear of height and want to see Labanoras Regional Park from a height three times higher, you would have to drive 14 km to Mindūnai observation tower (214 steps), - it is the second tallest observation tower in Lithuania. Climbing up it is not easy, but it is worth it: there is definitely something to look at at the top.
A few kilometers to the tower you will see Rudesa St. John the Baptist Chapel - an unusual 16th century wooden building. Look around the area: Napoleon's army walked these roads two hundred years ago. Along the way, everything burned: houses and forests, thet's why the wood of the rebuilt chapel may not look so old.
The wooden sanctuary is not the only one here - You will find it similar to Inturkė St. Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The legend says its construction was funded by Queen Bona.
The best way to visit the area is by bike: the Western Blue Hiking and Cycling Trail starts right next to the house - a possibility to visit the entire Labanoras Park and its sights (74 km).
What’s there for children?
It is possible to come here with children. Overnight in a small cottage in the middle of the forest is an adventure in itself. Once everything around have been explored, magical pebbles and pine cones have been collected, a fishing rod has been tested and hiding places have been discovered - you can spend some time at ... no, not your computer or smartphone, but playing chess and other family board games.
There is more entertainment nearby. A short walk (15-20 minutes) will lead to Lake Kertuojus. The place is ideal for children's bathing - You'll find here a long shallow shore, clear water and white sand like that of the seaside.
The first experience of communication with horses in the "Žirgų oazė" (8 km. in the direction of Lake Urkis) will leave a whole bunch of emotions for the little ones. You can walk on a horse from the age of one; riding lessons are taught from 6-7 years. Horseback riding is organized in Labanoras Regional Park.
