Before we talk about our houses that come straight from the 21st century, let's go back in time. We turn the pages of history until 1494, when Paul Bogdan bought 10 łans of land under the Chełmno law in order to establish the village of Bogdany. Paul was granted a permit to build a mill, hunt in the surrounding forests and fish for his own table in the lakes of Sirwindken and Kroplichen. It was also not without obligations. As a landowner, he had to perform one armed service on horseback, help in the construction and repair of castles and serfdom. 440 years later, on May 13, 1934, the descendants of Paul Bogdan celebrated the jubilee of establishing the village, and thus their Bogdański family. Four centuries with the same view, it speaks for itself.
We fully understand them, because this landscape cannot get bored. Wild Bogdańskie Lake, forest and field path, bird sanctuary, silence punctuated by a fish splash. Varmia vineyard on the other bank, and a private sauna on the terrace. Don't be lame, admit it yourself. In the middle of this idyllic picture you will find houses that we invented especially for romantic trips for two. We named them hytte after the old Norwegian tradition of spending time in a second home. The one in nature, away from everyday life. With loved ones, at leisure, in the sauna and at the lake. Hytte is a place that we gladly come back to. To be yourself and with yourself, to relax, do nothing or do what you usually don't have time for. We don't have TVs here, but panoramic windows in the living room. You can catch up with admiring nature, we invite you.
We invite you to Lake Bogdańskie. It's wild, even though it's a village. You can hear frogs, birds, fish splashing, insects, dragonfly wings making sounds like small helicopters. We have neighbors next door, but they are friendly and smiling, and there are 2 twin houses on the plot - Hytte LIS and Hytte ŁANIA. They stand at a comfortable distance from each other, have their own terraces, their own private entrance to the property and a dedicated parking space.
We designed the cottages for a comfortable stay for a couple, and in "emergency" cases for up to 4 people. Their layout and equipment is identical, but they differ in decor and colors. Hytte LIS is a house dominated by darker colors - oak and stone slate. Hytte ŁANIA, on the other hand, has brighter colors: lots of white, red brick, navy blue and green.
Make yourself comfortable, in each house we have for you:
- panoramic living room (sofa bed) with kitchen and dining table,
- a bedroom with a bed 140x200,
- comfortable electric floor heating,
- a bathroom with a shower,
- a spacious outdoor terrace with garden furniture (partially covered),
- a traditional, wood-fired outdoor sauna and necessary accessories,
- stock of wood
- retro beach basket
- place for a bonfire
- projector with screen (and Netflix)
wi-fi in the houses may not be very fast, but it is enough to work :)
We hope that you will share breakfasts in bed equally. Once one thing, sometimes the other. Anyway, you can do whatever you want. You might as well skip this meal and get up only for lunch. The kitchen is waiting for your culinary shows. It is equipped with an induction hob, a fridge (with a freezer compartment), a dishwasher and the necessary accessories (pots, cutlery, glasses, glasses, plates, bowls, knives, cutting boards, etc.). The nearest shops are quite far away, so it's worth planning the menu in advance. You can also catch fish for dinner or light a fire, throw potatoes into it and dinner will be ready.
Each cottage has a large terrace with a beautiful panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding area. The terraces are partially covered so that you can spend time there even on warm, rainy days, and they also provide protection from the sun on hot days.
For a local drink, just go to the other side of the lake, to Warmińska Vineyard, where you can try and take away white and red grape wine and liqueurs. The pizzeria in the neighboring village serves delicious and authentic Italian pizza (you can order delivery to the door of your Hytte cottage, or eat on site - you can get there by car or on foot).
Warmia does not always mean being close to lakes, but we were lucky. Our Hytte is situated on Lake Bogdański itself. It is rich in fish, but poor in places for sunbathing. There is no bathing place here, it is quite wild, there are practically two descents to the lake on the shore, but this is what makes it really quiet and there are no crowds. The rod can be cast on rudd, breams, roaches, pikes and lines. Apparently, someone, somewhere, once caught a crucian carp, but these are rather rural legends.
So you can swim, you can fish and it is very pleasant to walk around. The lake is surrounded by the Bogdany ecological site - a refuge for many rare bird species. This charming and undiscovered place has its own historical secrets, and in addition, during trips and walks, you can meet or hear many animal inhabitants of the surrounding forests or backwaters. On the other side of the lake, there is the only vineyard in this part of the country that produces local wine. You can try their red or white Herkus Monte grape wine.
There are bicycle and canoe routes through the village:
- 24 km bicycle route - route: Nikielkowo - Kaplityny - Bogdany - Klebark Wielki
- 27 km green bicycle trail - the route: Barczewo - Mokiny - Bogdany - Kaplityny - Łęgajny - Barczewko - Barczewo
- canoe trail: Bogdańskie Lake - Kiermas River - Umląg Lake - Kiermas River - Kiermas Lake - Kiermas River - The Pisa Warmińska River - The Wadąg Lake - The Wadąg River
It is also possible:
- sauna,
- go on a hiking or biking trip along the surrounding paths, visit local villages and towns with their small monuments / interesting places,
- play on the terrace or in the beach basket,
- depending on the season: pick mushrooms, blueberries and wild strawberries in the forest, but also look for lost / dropped deer antlers (quite numerous in the area),
- spend time by the fire,
- play board games or read books,
- you can do nothing (which in Bogdany is not a sin).
- find your favorite lake, and a lot of those in the area: Umląg, Kiermas, Klebarskie, Wadąg,
- visit Olsztyn, see the High Gate, discover the Forest Arboretum of Warmia and Masuria or spend time actively by the water in the modern Ukiel recreation center (15 minutes by car to the city),
- see the intersection of two aqueducts in Silice with your own eyes - a unique, on a European scale, collision-free water intersection: Victoria (lower) and Elżbieta (upper). They were named after the daughters of William II, the last German emperor and king of Prussia. Silice is situated 11 kilometers east of Olsztyn, in the county of Olsztyn, in the Purda commune. In the nineteenth century, two canals were built there that performed meliorative functions. The Elżbieta Canal was to prevent, among other things, the flooding of Barczewo by the Kośna River. The Victoria Canal is part of the canoe trail: Linowskie Lake - Klebarskie Lake - Pisa River - Wadąg Lakes. The intersection of the canals is located west of the village, at the road bend from Klebark Wielki. In Klebark it is worth stopping and seeing the beautiful church standing there.
What’s there for children?
We did not provide facilities for kids, because our hytte was designed for romantic trips for two. If young people absolutely want to go to the lake, we have a place for them on the couch, but our recipe for a successful holiday in Bogdany is an intimate time in silence, even for the weekend.
