Fantastic Mr. Fox was looking for a family home that would be made from natural pine and have a beautiful view through the window. If he came to Druskininkai, he would definitely come to our street. And not just because we are close to the forest: Mizarų street has long been chosen by city guests. There were vacationers here a hundred and fifty years ago, when the first wooden huts appeared in the sand and mineral baths were improvised in bucks. The same fifty years ago, when the city spa hotels did not accommodate everyone who wanted to, and it would be good if a free room appeared in the attic. Now some houses are restoring tradition and welcoming guests. Nothing strange, because this place is ideal for relaxation: to the bend of the Nemunas with the Island of Love - just a few meters, to the lake with a white sandy beach - five minutes walk. And even to the old town - only one kilometer.
Alexei and Julia from Moscow have re-built this house according to their own project, but the spirit of the old Druskininkai has remained within its walls. The floor squeaks the most when you wish to go unnoticed. There are no TVs in the rooms. In an unmowed yard, apples, pears, cherries and currants are ripening. And the evenings here are indescribably cozy with tea and bird songs on the terrace. Come and fall in love with the place.
Our guest house has four family rooms, two on the ground floor and two on the second floor. Each has its own kitchen, living room, one or more bedrooms and a private bathroom. Both ground floor rooms have separate entrances from the courtyard and a large veranda. Rooms on the second floor open onto a large balcony, where it is fun to spend evenings drinking tea. Both the terrace and the balcony have outdoor furniture.
All rooms have bed linen, towels and the necessary toiletries. Hairdryers are available.
Children can be accommodated in cots - no extra charge is required.
Common facilities include an ironing board with iron, washing machine and dryer (washing powder may need to be provided). Guests of the house have access to a large garden. It allows unlimited collection of apples, pears, cherries and currants. Not only that, the neighbor doesn’t mind when guests pick her raspberries from the bushes that climbed into Mr. Fox’s territory.
There is also a barbecue . in the yard
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
Parking is not possible on Mizarų Street, so it is possible to use the free private parking lot on the other side of the guest house - in the quiet Dabintos Street.
Pets are accepted by prior arrangement with the owners. There is no extra charge for pets.
The guest house is designed for a quiet family holiday. Everything here is ready for a hassle-free stay at the resort. Each room has its own dining area with a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals all day - from porridge with fresh raspberries from the garden to pancakes with homemade curd from the city market. In each corner of the kitchen there is a two-part hob, pots and pans, cutlery and crockery, cups and goblets, an electric kettle and a coffee machine with a squeeze, a microwave, kitchen towels. There is a fridge to store food supplies. In warm weather, you can grill meat or fish (there is firewood on site, but charcoal should be bought in Maxima or IKI).
But to cram in the kitchen yourself is not necessary if you do not want to. In Druskininkai there is a large selection of excellent catering establishments. A ten-minute walk from the guest house is the wonderful City Coffee Café with fresh croissants, homemade sweets and a selection of coffees and teas (open from 09:30). Or the Boulangerie bakery with real French desserts (open from 7 am).
For lunch on weekdays, you can choose from a daily menu at one of the restaurants in the country. The best offers in terms of price and quality are usually provided by restaurants Sicilia (Taikos St.), Druskininkai Colonnade and Pušynas. You can find out in advance what lunch will be prepared in the chosen place, you can on the restaurants' facebook pages, or by calling.
For a fun sitting in the evening, Mister Fox recommends the restaurant Velvetti - one of the best in Lithuania. If you are lucky, the guest house can receive a gift voucher for free pizza at this restaurant. The restaurant Sicilia, located on M.K.Čiurlionio Street, is also very popular, but here you need to reserve a table in advance.
One of the best Lithuanian restaurants in the city is Romnesa, located in Jaskoniai village. Zeppelins, great homemade kvass and locally baked twigs are always perfect here. Romness's specialty dish is a bun in cucumber and spinach sauce, one of the most delicious freshwater fish in our region.
You usually come to Druskininkai for three reasons: to use medical services, to have fun in the Water Park / Snow Arena, or to stay in nature - walking, cycling, just enjoying the peace. Those who are close to at least one of these goals will definitely not get bored in Druskininkai.
Mister Fox values that third goal most - being in nature. Therefore, bicycles can be rented cheaply for the guests of the house (6-7 euros for the whole day). You can start driving from the gates of the house. The direction to the left leads to the center of Druskininkai with all its entertainment, the road goes directly (Klonio or Sodų streets) - towards the lakes, and the right direction leads to the Nemunas with the renewed Star Orbit Trail. Bicycles can be used to mix the whole city and its surroundings. Undoubtedly, this is the best way to see Druskininkai.
If you lack any information, it is worth visiting the local Tourism Information Center on M.K.Čiurlionio Street (1.2 km) - here you will always help to orientate yourself and choose interesting activities or places to visit. The center is open all days of the week from 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. (Sundays until 5pm, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during low season).
What’s there for children?
The guest house welcomes families with children. There is no extra charge for a baby cot or high chair. There will also be no shortage of entertainment in the vicinity of the house - neither the youngest nor the teenagers.
When vacationing with the family, it is simply necessary to walk to the Water Park, climb over the city by mountain lift and cross the Nemunas Tarzan trail in the UNO Adventure Park. All of these attractions are one and a half kilometers from the guest house and are easily accessible on foot.
Those who like winter entertainment can party at the year-round Snow Arena on the left bank of the Nemunas (4 km). The complex has separate areas for snowboard and ski fans. Here you can rent professional equipment and clothing, or take your first step with an instructor.
Both the Water Park and UNO and Snow Arena have separate spaces for the little ones, where the child will be cared for by a babysitter or a cute instructor.
The fabulous sculpture park of Antanas Česnulis with giants, dragons and other miracles will bring joy to the little ones. For parents who would like to spend some time in just two or go to health treatments, there is a children’s park called And what’s here? It is 1000 sq. M. m. play area for preschool and early school children.
There are several beaches in the town. The most beautiful and safest for family bathing is the shore of Vijūnėlė pond with white sand and clean shallow shore (0.5 km). Next to it in the wilderness there is an inflatable children's trampoline and playground park, nearby - water bicycles, electric scooters, bicycle rental.
