You have entered a quiet port. You will have a lake here almost at your fingertips, because to the terrace that surrounds the house, which is centimeters away from the water, you will come out of the living room with glass walls, from each of the two bedrooms, and even from the shower. This is what we have in our house on the water. Strictly speaking, it is on Lake Nowowiejskie, the smallest in the lakes of Brudzia Zbąszyńska. There are six of them in the family, they are connected by the Obra River. But don't be fooled by appearances. Although the house is floating on the water, it does not sway at all. You can sway to the rhythm of calm waves on a hammock or a swing, wave on a kayak or SUP board, or drift your thoughts in a chair on the roof, looking for kingfishers and cormorants.
We hid the house behind the forest, hid it among wild nature, moored on the shore between the reeds. Rushes are entwined by pine pergolas that surround the body of the building. Light and shadow play tag in them, calming the senses, soothing fatigue and giving a sense of shelter. After all, it's a water hideout. Here you can anchor.
You will sleep in 2 houses, located next to each other, on the waters of Lake Nowowiejska. The Water Hideouts are moored to one of the piers extending into the lake. The entire area is 2,600 m², including a patch of private forest that effectively separates the houses from the world. You can feel like you're in a real hideaway here, because even from the roof you can only see nature. Architect Marek Pawłowski made sure that the houses fit into the surroundings and disturb the natural space as little as possible.
1 house on the water has 54 m², which consists of:
– two bedrooms with double beds and large wardrobes, both of which have access to the terrace, one has a work corner, the other has direct access to the bathroom,
– bathroom with a shower, from which you can also access the terrace,
– kitchen and dining room connected to the living room with a screen and projector.
The interior in white and gray colors is complemented by oak finishes.
2 house on the water has 30 m², which consists of:
– one bedroom with a double bed
- bathroom with shower
– kitchen connected to the living room with a fold-out sofa
The interior in subdued earth colors and large windows allows you to immerse yourself in the surrounding nature.
Pergolas made of pine boards surround the terrace, which allows you to walk around the house. There you will find swings, hammocks, a wooden bench and a ladder leading down to the water. The second ladder will take you to a 40-meter terrace on the roof of the larger house. This space includes comfortable sofas with pillows, low benches, a large table with 6 fold-out chairs and a grill. You can have yoga sessions, organize training sessions, play board games and even dance here.
From almost every point - the terrace, the pier or the sofa in the living room with glass walls - you will enjoy the closeness of nature and the opportunity to observe birds and beavers.
One of the bedrooms has a work corner with a desk. We have fast internet and Wodne Hideouts will also work well as a space for work. There is a Canon printer on site, which we leave at your disposal.
Right next to the houses there is a terrace with a pergola and: a table, benches, a fireplace with a grate and a sink. Both the pergola on land and the roof terrace have lights that add charm to the space after dark.
When choosing floating houses, you must be aware that water will surround you on all sides. You have to be careful not to let anything fall into it and make sure you don't throw anything into it. Even though the houses are on the water, they do not sway on the waves, when you enter them, you will feel like you are on land.
In Water Hideouts you cook your own food. You have two well-equipped kitchens at your disposal. You can barbecue on rooftop terraces and bonfires on land, because there is a fireplace with a grate waiting for you there. You can enjoy your meals in the dining room inside the larger house, on the roof terraces or on land under the pergola. The view from every seat will be first class!
I recommend two local restaurants in particular: Karczma Taberska and Dwór Kolesin.
Welcome to western Greater Poland. The Polish-German border once ran quite nearby, today the border separating the Greater Poland Voivodeship from the Lubusz Voivodeship. What awaits you here: hectares of forests full of mushrooms in the season, 100 lakes full of fish and wine traditions. For active people: numerous bicycle paths, running routes and certified Nordic walking routes.
With the lake at your fingertips, you often don't need more. You can get to the terrace of the larger house, rising just above the lake, not only from the living room, but also from each bedroom and straight from the shower. You can contemplate the wild circumstances of nature, look out for rare species of birds (kingfishers, gray herons, tawny owls, scaled owls and cormorants) and beavers from any point - a swing or hammock on the terrace, a fold-out armchair on the roof or a sofa in the living room with glass walls. The house is equipped with a screen and a projector that allows you to organize film screenings.
A kayak and two SUP boards are waiting for you on site. You can use them to sail out to the middle of the lake to take a swim. The bottom is muddy near the shore, and water lilies grow right next to the house - remember that they are a protected species. For crawls and frogs in the lake, it is best to swim a little further away.
The lake on whose waters the houses are located is Lake Nowowiejska - the smallest of the Bruzda Zbąszyńska lakes, there are five more in the immediate vicinity, and 100 in the region. Hence the name Land of 100 lakes. We are about 50 minutes away by car, head towards Międzychód or Chalin. The heart of this area is the charming Sieraków, and the whole thing can be admired from the Góra Głazów viewpoint. We also have a lot of nearby forests where you can look for mushrooms and look out for animals, roe deer, deer and wild boars live here. It is also nice to wander around the surrounding villages, where life goes on at a leisurely pace.
Our region is also famous for its wines. I recommend Stara Winna Góra in Cigacice, 35 minutes away by car. You can make an appointment for a tour and wine tasting combined with tastings of cheese and long-ripened ham. Attractions are available for organized groups, it is worth checking the details and making an appointment in advance.
Come to Wolsztyn (20 minutes by car) and take a walk along the picturesque corners of Lake Wolsztyńskie and the Dojca River and visit the Steam Locomotive Museum. The world's last locomotive shed with passenger traffic on a normal track operates here, so you can set off on a train bursting with steam!
In Łagów (50 minutes by car) there is the Knights' Castle. It is not open to visitors on a daily basis, but in the summer season you can climb the tower with a viewing platform, from which there is a panorama of Łagów and the surrounding area with lakes: Łagowskie and Trześniowskie.
Your senses will be spoiled by a trip to the lavender plantation - Silna Lawenda (45 minutes by car), where you will find fabulous views and products made from this plant (including oil and hydrolate). The plantation also organizes workshops.
Folwark Pszczew, 50 minutes away by car, offers, among others: SPA zone, cafe, winery, horse riding and amphibious ride.
What’s there for children?
Water Hideaways are houses on the water, which are surrounded by a terrace adjacent to the water. On part of the surface, they are separated from the water only by a detachable rope. Take this into account when planning to come to us with children.
