It is enough to turn a few kilometers north of the highway Telšiai - Kretinga to set foot on Scandinavian land… Although it would be more accurate to say not on land, but on the rock that the last glacier pulled here from Sweden, Finland and the Åland Islands. A dream place for stone lovers: geologists insist that there are about 300 thousand cubic meters of boulders in Šaukliai boulder. And where else is the whole Salantai Regional Park ... True, there are rumors that it is not the stones that are here, but the enchanted Swedish army. But this information has not been confirmed yet, and we assure the most timid: it is completely safe to visit the Minija Valley at this time. According to the laws of myth, until one of the stones blooms, no Viking will move out of place. And their place in the park is still occupied by mountain mouflons. Therefore, it is still possible to see the horny shadow in the park's juniper ...
We invite you to stay in a yurt right next to the picturesque loops of the Minija River, in the neighborhood of old mounds. As in deep antiquity, we have neither electricity nor wi-fi, and only a kerosene lamp can illuminate ourselves in the evening. Our guests say these are not disadvantages, but just advantages and adventure. If you think so too, and feel an unquenchable need for wildlife and peace in your heart, we have the ideal place for you.
Yurt owns a large plot of 4.5 hectares by the river Minija. There are no other buildings nearby, just wildlife. Access to the yurt is possible on a gravel road, which is rarely used: it is possible to reach only a small rural tourism homestead at the end of the road (1 km), there is no further passage. By the way, from October to April the homestead is closed for the winter season - then practically one of our yurt guests uses the road.
What can we offer you? First of all - silence, peace, being in nature. An opportunity to find time for your dearest people, to be together, to talk by the campfire when the moonlight shines.
We always try to meet the people who come, we show everything, we tell you how the stove works for cooking, how to light a fireplace, where to go for a walk, what is interesting to see in the surroundings.
Our yurt has no electricity and wi-fi, but you will not be completely without amenities. In the evening, the light of candles and kerosene lamps will provide coziness. There is a wireless lamp. There is a fireplace for warming up in any weather (we have firewood). Tea can be brewed with the help of a gas stove, food can be prepared - on a campfire or on the grill (we have tools and a grill). If necessary, you can use the electricity connection outside.
The interior furniture of the yurt - two beds, a table, a wardrobe and shelves - is handmade by the Master. The walls are decorated with souvenirs brought from travel. There is a toilet house built according to the author's project outside near the yurt. There is an outdoor shower (only in warm weather). You will find drinking water in the yurt, and we also advise you to bring extra water with you.
We can accommodate a maximum of 3 people at a time.
Bed linen and towels are included in the yurt rental.
We do not have cots for babies / children.
We accept pets - please arrange in advance.
You can park your car in the outdoor parking lot next to the yurt.
We welcome guests all year round.
The yurt has a small kitchenette with a gas hob, where you can make tea or warm up. Outdoors you can cook on the campfire or on the grill (we have firewood, there are tools and a grill). On site you will find plates, pots, utensils, coffee, tea, bottled drinking water. We have no fridge or running water. The nearest Maxima is in Plungė, so bring your groceries and water supplies with you in advance. If you have any questions, we will always be happy to help.
Our place is amazing for fans of nature and active leisure. If you have been driving around Lithuania without turning off the main roads so far, the yurt area will have something to surprise you.
We are in the Minija Valley, on the bank of the largest river in Western Samogitia. Minija is fast and volatile, due to its character it is called a mountain river. In summer it dries out sharply, in spring or after rains it rises all the way to the shores. Water tourism is suitable for 120 kilometers of river, the complexity of the route is moderate, there are many beautiful outcrops and places of interest along the way. A few kilometers from the yurt begins one of the most impressive sections of the river, the Great Loop. We do not organize swimming, but there are at least four kayak rental points in Kartena.
The Salantai Regional Park begins with a picturesque glacial landscape, nature trails and sightseeing places just outside the yurt area. There are countless boulders, overgrown ditches (so-called horns) and water sources. Instead of our usual forest, tundra-like vegetation grows, and junipers are the largest in Lithuania. It is home to foxes, boars, wolves and rare birds. Even mountain rams (mouflons) specially brought to the park can be found in the heron boulder, although this is rare: mouflons are timid and avoid people, and their location is fenced. Information about the park, trails and excursions can be found on the website salanturp.lt.
The Minija Valley and its environs once saw many wars: these lands were often visited by both Swedish and Russian armies and Crusaders. As a result, you'll see many mounds and mansions when traveling by car or bike. The nearest are Kartenai, Dauginčiai, Gintarai, Imbarė and Ganding mounds. It is worth looking for information and legends about them.
What’s there for children?
A family of three can live in the yurt. We do not have extra beds for children.
Accommodation in a real yurt is entertainment in itself. Add to that unlimited fields and forest spaces filled with birds, frogs, pebbles and other natural wonders. You can run to the will, play on the river bank, and build a campfire with adults in the evening - who will give up such a summer vacation?
There are more activities for children in Salantai Regional Park: there are educational programs "Old Crafts", "Herald Boulder Planet", "Salantan Chestnut Star Hour", "Guests in Šilpeikė Forest" and "In Search of the Curonian Castle". To be adapted for adults, it is necessary to order the program in advance, more information on the park's website salanturp.lt.
