Today we invite you to gymnastics. First, the language to pronounce correctly: Sejneńszczyzna, Wojtokiemie, Trakiszki and most importantly: pieriedyszka, or a moment of rest - right here in the Suwałki region. Now we start practicing our hands, because we have a lake and canoes just throw the life jacket from the house. And finally, exercising the abdomen so that it perfectly stretches and fits delicacies such as sękacz, anthills and czenaki - that is, delicacies from the Polish-Lithuanian border.
We greet you from the very Lithuanian border, from the shore of Lake Sejwy from the village and now note: Wojtokiemie. In the surrounding villages, the housewives prepare kartacze, pancakes, lentils, potato sausages and cakes, bake sękacz, anthills and a kilometer-fragrant bread. Here, home recipes are handed down from generation to generation, so their taste (enriched with the recipes of Lithuanian cuisine) cannot be imitated. The local lakes give you the opportunity to swim, fish and sail, you can walk in the woods for hours, and we just spread out a blanket to watch the clouds and the sunset behind the meadow. Flashy cranes fly overhead, the wine is cooled in the refrigerator and we do not exclude an evening bonfire. If it sounds like the essence of rest to you, then come across fields, meadows, forests and lakes for all time. We are waiting for you!
In the house you will find two independent apartments and so you can rent them, but if you come with a larger team - you can rent the whole house. We invite you with dogs, kids, friends, couples and families - everyone will find a perfect place for themselves.
Both apartments (Sejwy at the bottom of the house and Boksze - at the top) have two bedrooms - one with a bed for two people, the other with two single bedrooms. Each apartment has a bathroom with shower, a living room and a kitchenette. Do not take towels or a dryer - we have them in place.
We have a very good range and wifi here, so if you have to work - you won't have a problem with it. Sensitive ears can be awakened by a cluster of cranes flying over the meadows or by the mooing of cows from nearby pastures. We consider it the most beautiful music and accept it at any time of the day - after all, we are in the countryside.
You prepare the food yourself - each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen. We have also prepared coffee pots for you, so that you can set your coffee at dawn and drink it on the pier by the lake.
For those willing, we will organize a delivery of local delicacies: sourdough bread and potato cake that you can lick your fingers with from Aldonka, and sękacz and sweet anthills from Renia. Go shopping in Puńsk and Sejny, and we especially recommend shopping in the store with Lithuanian specialties in Puńsk. You can buy country eggs at Aldonka, and brilliant local products at the market in Kalwaria (Lithuania) every Sunday.
If you feel like a kitchen dislike, we have proven restaurants nearby that offer regional dishes: cold soup, lentils, kartacze, czenaki - be sure to try! You must eat at the Ruta Restaurant in Puńsk, the Dworek Hołny Restaurant and the Lithuanian House in Sejny.
First and foremost - we have a lake under the house where you can splash, splash and swim. In addition, we have canoes, so you can race on them every day or watch the sunset from the pier. Fortunately, no one is chasing here, waking up, or ordering anything, so you can spend this time in the most comfortable position for you, e.g. on a deckchair or blanket, or in bed, sleeping until noon.
Secondly, there are many beautiful cities and towns around us that are worth visiting when you are at this tip of Poland. Go to Sejny to see the White Synagogue and the statue of Our Lady of Sejny. In Suwałki, visit the District Museum and the Maria Konopnicka Museum, and also the Stary Browar (but be careful, because the building is in poor condition). Suwałki hosts numerous folk art fairs, street theater performances and the famous Suwałki Blues Festival. In August, come to the Festival of Honey and Bread in Puńsk, it is worth participating in the concerts of the Klezmer Orchestra of the Sejny Theater and the Literary Festival "Looking to the East".
Nature lovers will definitely go to Lake Gałduś, although the most beautiful view of Lake Gaładuś is on the Lithuanian side (worth checking out), the Suwałki Landscape Park, the Tobolinka Reserve and the Wigry National Park. You can go rafting on the Biała Hańcza, Marycha or the Black Ribbon of the Suwałki Region, or Czarna Hańcza, sail around the surrounding lakes and go on one of the bicycle routes for an unforgettable trip. We recommend you to take a ride at least part of the Green Velo Eastern Cycle Trail, the Stork Trail, the international R-11 trail designed from Athens in Greece to Nord Kap in Norway, or the fortification trail that leads from the tripoint of state borders (Poland, Lithuania, Russia). it is marked with the symbol R-68.
It is also worth going to Giby and visiting the forester's lodge in Wiłokok by the Zelwa lake, which is the prototype of the one described by Nienacki in "Pan Samochodzik i Templarach". If you have traveled such a long way and reached the Sejny region, it is worth visiting our Lithuanian neighbors. We recommend you visit Wiejsieje (a town situated on a peninsula on Lake Ancia) and take a walk in the Žuvinto wetlands (the kingdom of many species of birds). We are quite close to Marijampole, Vilnius, Trakai and Kaunas, and there are only attractions - a beautiful castle, Town Hall Square, Aleksotas viewpoint, streets of the old town and a viewpoint over the Nemunas.
What’s there for children?
At our place, the kids beat their heels on the buttocks, bruise and get dirty on their clothes - we accepted that this is the essence of a successful holiday. Toddlers play on the playground, older kids build secret bases in the bushes, organize sports competitions and, of course, organize jumping competitions.
It is worth going to Suwałki with the children and taking a walk along the Fairy Tale Trail, where you will find 7 stops - Fairy Tale Villages. Each village is devoted to the works of Maria Konopnicka and it is worth having Wanderers' Cards with you, for which you can collect stamps. Be sure to also find the dwarfs hidden on the Dwarf Trail. Regardless of age, a trip to the Wigry Narrow-Gauge Railway, which takes tourists around the Augustów Forest and the Wigry National Park, will be a lot of fun. You can visit the village of Oszkinie, in which there is a Yotvingian-Prussian settlement with houses, a sacred grove, lakes and the so-called places of power.
Adrenaline-hungry kids can try their hand at the rope park on Gaładuś.
