Hi, I'm Marcin. I know that greeting may not be fancy, but in the end we are in the Beskid Sądecki, and here in the mountains we like simplicity. Many years ago, for this simpler life, I quit Warsaw and started taking care of the PTTK Bacówka nad Wierchomla shelter (anyway, I remain in this farm '' position '' to this day). I am a GOPR rescuer, survival instructor. But I think most of all I am a huge lover of this piece of the Wierchomla region of the world.
Apparently, it is here that you can see the most beautiful mountain storms, fall asleep after a walk in the sun on a bench and read a book by a yurt fireplace, scratching a purring cat behind the ear.
Put your backpack on your shoulder, come to our Mongolian yurts (yes, come - you have to leave the car in the valley) and feel this state. JurtoStan. Because now it will be downhill. And it is with a view of the Tatra Mountains just around the corner.
Henry David Thoreau decided to conduct an experiment: for two years he lived in a hut on Lake Walden, Massachusetts, adapting to the seasons and earning his own hands from work.
“I lived in the forest because I wanted to live consciously, to face only the most important issues, to see if I can absorb what life can teach me, so that at the hour of my death I would not discover that I was dead. I did not want to lead a life that is not, after all, life is such a treasure; I also didn't want to give up anything, unless it was absolutely necessary. ''
These words are always in my heart and I want to pass them on. And since it is difficult to find a place closer to nature and more inspiring than yurts, I decided to hide a few of them in the heart of the old Carpathian Forest. In summer you will find a pleasant coolness inside, in winter peace from the wind and warmth from the stove, in which the fire crackles cheerfully.
The bathrooms and the dining room with a buffet are located a few steps away, in Bacówka nad Wierchomla. There is also a sheltered terrace with the most beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains in the Beskids (I'm not alone in this opinion!).
You can choose to spend the night in one of the five yurts or in the larger, but more rugged, survival tent.
JurtoStan is a natural part of Bacówka nad Wierchomla, which is why I invite you to visit it the most. Do not be deceived by the height and the problematic delivery of goods - the shepherd's hut team watches over the delicious food!
We pickle the cabbage, cucumbers and sour rye soup by ourselves, and for oscypek and other sheep products we visit our local shepherd. Mr. Jasiek still remembers Wierchomla without electricity, asphalt road, ski lifts ... It is a real treasury of knowledge and stories about how it used to be in the past.
Some vegetables come from the local garden, despite the unfavorable weather conditions. We do not use palm oil, glutamates, we do not sell junk food and beverages commonly considered to be particularly unhealthy.
On the menu board you will find hand-made dumplings, regional delicacies, beers from local craft breweries, homemade breakfasts and, of course, traditional mountain apple pie hot. Vegans and vegetarians will also not let the hungry go out of here.
However, if you really want to prepare something yourself, the summer kitchen is open. It has a gas stove, access to running water, a few pots, cutlery and dishes.
Let's check it out! What about…
- hiking in Beskid Sądecki
We have a lot of trails around. They lead through the forest to occasionally cross scenic meadows. However, you don't always have to stick to them: the unmarked paths tempt you with even more peace and quiet. Just remember to bring the map!
- riding in the mountains on two wheels
To get to us by bike, it is best to take a forest road that gently leads to the shelter itself. Approximately 300 m below the SPA hotel in Wierchomla Mała, we turn left into a wide road marked with a sign for the Bacówka Nad Wierchomlą hostel. The road leads straight to the shelter. And from there, after a night in a yurt or a tent, you can go further and make loops of any size.
- winter skiing
2 km from JurtoStan there are ski lifts. In winter, a good adventure will be walking (on foot or on ski-tours) from Wierchomla, skiing on the slope, and finally returning home along the blue trail. Imagine that crunching snow, cloudless sky and the view of glowing houses in the valley ...
- participation in workshops and more
From time to time, thematic workshops, concerts and survival excursions take place on Wierchomla. If you want to combine your stay in JurtoStan with such an attraction, write, call or go to Bacówka's Facebook profile to find out about the next dates of events.
- reading books, eating apple pie, lying on the meadow ...
... looking at the stars, listening to the stream, walking aimlessly and what else is playing in your soul!
What’s there for children?
Above all, a lot of space in which all children's imaginations can fit! The kids make bases at our place, play tag, jump through puddles, peek under every stone and soak their feet in a stream. In the evening they like to take out board games - they are available in the hut.
