Cikháj is a beautiful village in the Highlands. Fifty houses are surrounded by forests, hills, rocks and legends. The river Svratka springs here and for II. World War II also produced human courage. Cikháj was a center of guerrilla resistance. To this day, you will find several monuments in the area as a reminder. Only in this way did the village escape the same fate that befell Lidice or Ležáky.
Cikháj was full of brave families who supplied the guerrillas with food and clothing. They informed them about the movement of German troops, the Gestapo and gendarmes and took care of sick fighters for our freedom. But it didn't end well. The burned-out house of Josef Vais and the blasted-out house of Josef Roučka, whose families cooperated with the resistance, as well as the countless prisoners were a terrible retaliation.
Even today, there is a great sense of belonging and faith in humanity in the village, although the number of true witnesses is declining. We are proud that our Cottage behind the humny stands right here. In the Vysočina region you can admire not only beautiful nature and beautiful monuments, but also people.
The heart of our Chalupa za humny is a common room with a kitchen, dining tables, and most importantly a beautiful large oven with a sufficient supply of wood. In the oven you can relax with a book in hand, "think" with your eyes closed and laze completely naked. Kids like to come here to play cards.
5 BEDROOMS
The separate rooms are nicely furnished in the countryside, yet modern and comfortable. All have their own flat-screen TV, bathroom and toilet. The beds have medical mattresses and each room has its own thermostat. Even in winter there is a beautiful warmth, especially thanks to the underfloor heating. But in our experience, after returning from the snow, everyone will still flock around the radiant tiled stoves and admire their rosy-faced faces.
The rooms are "inflatable" - they can accommodate an extra bed, cot and cradle. We accommodate up to 19 adults and 4 children / babies in addition.
COTTAGE WITH GARDEN
The cottage also has a large, fenced garden with a children's playground, a covered seating area and a place for a fireplace and barbecue. The garden is connected to our meadow, where you can play badminton or pétanque (we will lend you both), or here in the fall you can, for example, fly kites or ventilate airplane models.
In summer we will fill you with a round above-ground pool. As we expect to visit mainly families with children, the pool is safe so that you do not have to worry about children.
Although Cikháj is not to be found in the Michelin Guide (yet), we have a lot of places in the area where you can eat well. One of them is the restaurant Tisůvka, which is located about 200 meters from the cottage. The classic Czech menu is complemented by a seasonal menu. Excursions from far away places come here, so you better book a table in advance.
If you don't have much time to cook for over a year and you're looking forward to a holiday as an opportunity to have a good time, you will find one poem in our cottage. Feel free to pick our fresh herbs in the garden. They are here for you. The kitchen is spacious, modernly equipped and there are 2 refrigerators for sure, so that the whole staff has somewhere to clean supplies (or where to cool a beer - let's be realistic).
The dining room has enough seating for all holidaymakers in the cottage. We also have small tables with chairs for children, who can already take care of themselves. For the even smaller ones, we also have high chairs and cutlery.
The garden is ideal for barbecues or grilling over the fire in warm weather. You can then feast in two covered garden seating.
Barbecuing, drinking, lying in the oven, running around the garden, playing in the pool, or playing badminton, balls, darts or table hockey - all this is part of a full-fledged Slow Travel vacation. You don't even have to drop out of the tedious pace during trips. We will advise you on where to go so that you can enjoy the beauty that Vysočina hides. In addition, the cottage has a freely available catalog, in which you will find tips for trips, hiking and cycling maps and a detailed description of interesting places in the area.
HOLIDAY HOLIDAYS
Discovering the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area is definitely worth our recommendation. During the surveys, you will come across narrow ridges with rocks, such as Drátenická or Panská skála, and small rock towns, such as the Nine Rocks. You may also find rocky seas that formed here in the Quaternary.
On the way to Žákova hora you will meet monuments commemorating the guerrilla resistance during the Second World War. But if you see a deer here, don't go after her! As the companion Disciple of the Cikhay Glassworks did. He and three students followed a doe, which led them to a secret cave, full of food and wine. There was also a bowling alley with gold skittles. The next day, the companion went there alone, with an empty sack and malicious intent. He entered the mountain, but as usual, it closed behind him and no one ever saw Žák again. So at least they named the mountain after him.
SLOW TRAVEL IN SUMMER
When it is warm, you can relax and sunbathe in our garden. If our small pool is not enough for you, go for example to the Velké Dářko pond or to the Pilská water reservoir. Cycling routes lead mainly along paved forest paths. Take a trip to the Pilgrimage Church of St. Jan Nepomucký on Zelená hora (UNESCO monument), to the Vysočina Open-Air Museum or to Bethlehem in Hlinsko. Capable cyclists can also take a day trip to Herman's town. They will be rewarded with a preserved Jewish ghetto with a Neo-Renaissance synagogue and a school and rabbinate building, and a valuable Jewish cemetery with many Renaissance and Baroque tombstones.
SLOW TRAVEL IN WINTER
For fans of cross-country skiing, Žďársko is a paradise. Jump on the cross-country skis at the partisan monument and believe that whether you go left or right, you will remember cross-country skiing in the Vysočina region for a long time. It's just beautiful here! Downhill skiers will enjoy themselves on the slopes in Svratka or in Nové město na Moravě. You will also find a children's slope here. And we definitely recommend going to skate on the frozen forest pond Zlatnice.
Either way, you should definitely freeze freely. Ice noses and pink faces then melt beautifully in our heated cottage. Dig under the duvet, hug and watch a nice movie, or everyone will meet around the stove and make cocoa.
What’s there for children?
The neighbors are far away. So our children are finally free to run, play and scream as they please. To do this, they can use our large fenced garden or the adjacent meadow, which belongs to our cottage. Here, the little discoverers will have endless possibilities to dig, roll, roll and get dirty. There is a washing machine in the cottage, so close your eyes for a while and let them be children.
In the garden there is a safe playground with a sandpit, a swing, a slide, a house and a climbing wall. And all this is within sight of the garden seating, so you will have the smallest children under control, even if you just pour a glass of cold prosecco.
In the living room there is a children's table with lots of crayons, toys and building blocks. Each bedroom has a flat-screen TV that plays movies directly from your external drive. So fill it with your favorite fairy tales in advance.
BABY FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION IN VYSOČINA
We are a baby-friendly cottage, which is ready for even the smallest visitors. There is a potty, bath, babysitters, steps in the bathroom and plugs for drawers. In addition to cots, we also have beautiful wooden cradles.
