There is a place where people do not put up fences, and as part of a social act, they jointly fill in holes in the road or plant linden trees, and the air smells of hay. In winter, we not only sew socks, but you can hear music from almost every hallway. The Lemkos still live in the Beskid Nowica, the field flowers are still collected and tables are decorated with them. We take care of gardens, animals and neighbors. Some breed Kabardin and Hutsuls horses, and some breed roses. Some people can pet the goats, and others will feed us with goat cheese. We have everything a human needs for happiness: mountains, wind and each other.
We have been coming to Nowica for thirty years. In the end, we bought land because we didn't want to leave. We will move a historic Lemko village here, used old materials and against everything: the climate, height, advice and common sense - we have built a vineyard. To everyone's surprise - it survived the winter cold. Now we invite all tired, dead people who want to rest from the rush with a glass of wine. We are preparing glasses, are you coming?
You will sleep in the former Lemko bustle moved to Nowica in 2018. The area of the entire cottage will allow the whole family or a group of friends to rest comfortably - everyone will find their own corner. The house is a year-round house. In winter, the heart of the house is a wood-burning fireplace. Additionally, it has electric heating. To catch a breath here, we gave up on the TV, the range is sometimes there and not. We have Wifi theoretically, but why use it when there are so many nice things to do in the area (and so much sleep to catch up on)?
In the past, the house had a hall, a playground, two utility rooms and two living rooms. We stirred it up a bit so that the rest would be comfortable for a few people. In the current layout of the house you will find:
- two triple bedrooms, each with a continental double bed and a single bed (if you like to have your duvet and not share one with your loved one - let us know in advance),
- bathroom with shower,
- living room with sofas and time-lovers (radio, books, maps, guides),
- hall,
- a kitchen with a dining table,
- porch and porch,
- an open space in the attic, which we prepare as a room for work, yoga or a solitude.
During the construction, we tried to use those elements of the old house which, despite being affected by time, can serve people for many years. The pleasure of communing with old wood is enormous. We renovated casement windows, double doors, porch windows, and the floor was made of old brick. The veranda from which there is a panoramic view of the Nowica valley aroused the most emotions. After extensive consultations, also with guests visiting the vineyard, we decided to develop it. Even on winter days, you can spend warm moments in the sun.
We know that everyone has their favorite flavors. Some days they start with scrambled eggs and bacon, some prefer sweet, and some are fueled by coffee alone. Therefore, we leave the kitchen at your disposal. You will find there everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner.
If you fancy local products, we will tell you where to go for fresh milk, white cheese, homemade butter, sourdough bread, eggs and brilliant goat cheese. From our gardens you can pick carrots, parsley, chives, beans, beetroots, cucumbers, courgettes and seasonal fruits (raspberries, currants, gooseberries, blueberries). If you do not want to cook at all, in Nowica it is possible to order a take-out lunch (soup, main course, compote) or eat on the spot (meals in summer) in Sarepta.
We can also prepare an occasional dinner for you, an evening cauldron, skewers, etc., but you must let us know a little earlier than a few hours before the meal.
Our village is located in the Beskid Niski Mountains, right on the Przysłopianka stream (200 m), which flows into the Klimkówka Reservoir. The Magura Małastowska massif looms over the village from the north, a must-see! Leave the house and, after a short walk through the village, ascend to Oderne. From there, take the yellow trail through the meadows above Nowica to the mountain hut, and then the green trail above the village or the forest road to return home.
For those seeking a greater challenge, Lackowa, 997 m above sea level – the highest peak in the Beskid Niski Mountains – awaits. You can set off on a day trip along the green trail from Wysowa. After taking the red border trail over Ostry Wierch, you'll reach Lackowa, also known as Pułaski's Flag. /Yes, that Pułaski was stationed nearby with the Bar Confederates/. Returning from Ostry Wierch, you'll take the yellow trail through Biała Skała to Ropki and then the blue circular trail to Wysowa.
The Wooden Architecture Trail, with its beautiful Orthodox churches (in Łoś, Ropa, Uście Gorlickie, Kwiatoń, Skwirtne, and Gładyszów), is worth a visit.
On hot days, you can relax by the stream (the one near the house) or bike to the Klimkówka Reservoir, where you can swim, sail, or winter swim in the winter. It's worth visiting the Maziarska Farm in Łoś or visiting the Renaissance castle in Szymbark. If you'd like to venture a little further, head to Slovakia to visit the Gothic Bardejov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or the Bardejovské Kupeli. Winter isn't boring here either – you can go skiing: Magura Ski (6 km), Małastów (10 km), or Smerekowiec (14 km), cross-country skiing in Krzywa (12 km), where over 100 km of groomed trails await, or organize a proper, old-school snowball fight or sled race.
Nowica itself offers many attractions. Our vineyard is right outside our window, as are two historic Orthodox churches, Lemko huts, and a mountain hut at Magura Małastowska within walking distance. For those who enjoy nature rides, we'll tell you where to mount your horse and where the "fairytale" trail through seven streams begins.
We also host interesting events in our area:
- Innowica Theatre Festival,
- Bezz International Jazz Festival,
- Iconography Workshops at the House of Icons,
However, our greatest attraction is the timelessness. Once you overcome the urge to reach for your computer and phone (but as we mentioned, reception is scarce), you'll stretch out in a hammock or on a blanket in the grass, and then a true vacation will begin. One filled with deep breaths that turn into naps, with lazy page-turning, with gazing at the campfire and the stars. You'll notice the morning dew, the eaglets flying nearby, hear the crickets, and experience the timelessness. On the porch, in the hammock, in the meadow... gazing at the view stretching out around you. Feeling that sense of ease?
We suggest that all children embark on an adventure in nature! Here you can arrange:
- walk through seven streams,
- refreshing water bath,
- lounging in tall grass,
- smearing Indian patterns with clay,
- painting stones,
- collecting herbs and flowers in the meadow,
- mushroom picking,
- observing the night sky full of stars (and those falling!),
- watching frogs in the pond.
Around Nowica, 5-10 km, there are many workshops for children in the summer.
