We wave to you from a real shepherd's hut, where shepherds hid after their work, and the shepherd on the product was taking naps after dinner. He is so old that he remembers several generations of sheep, hundreds of frosts, thaws and juhasas jumping through the fire of a fire. We loved it with all our hearts and we decided that it could continue to provide shelter - mountain hikers, refugees from big cities, lovers of nature, sunrises above the mountain pastures and the starry sky of the Tatra Mountains.

Right after taking off the threshold, you land on the green trail leading to the Chochołowska Valley. We have a snowball throw to the Lejowa Valley and literally a few steps more to Kościeliska. Zakopane is at a safe distance, so if you want to, you can walk along Krupówki Street after lunch. But why, if there is an endless blue sky above us, a trail in front of us, and around us, silence and the truest peace, so appreciated by the Highlanders?

🌺 PLEASE NOTE 🌺 Because of the unique location of our cabin, right next to the Tatra National Park and a mountain trail, we share detailed information in the description about the terrain, minimum guest age, and our house rules. Please look at the photos of the access road and the small footbridge over the stream. If you can’t find answers to your questions, send us a message before booking. 😉

🛑 No pets allowed. Minimum guest age is 25 (younger guests must come with parents). No parties or loud noise allowed. Our cabin is for kind, calm people who naturally take off outdoor shoes at home and see no problem in taking care of the place and keeping it clean.

🙋‍♀️ CHECK-IN 🙋‍♂️ We check guests in personally between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, for the number of adults and children confirmed in the booking, without pets. We don’t do late-night or after-hours check-ins. If early check-in becomes possible, we’ll let you know the day before. 😉

👤 Our “cabin in the mountains” is over 120 m² and is always rented just for you, no matter how many guests. It sleeps up to 12 people, but many of our guests are couples, families with kids, or groups of friends looking for more space and quiet. For 2 people (+ small child), we usually offer the ground floor: large living room, kitchen, fireplace, TV (terrestrial), coffee corner, bathroom (shower, sink), separate toilet (toilet, sink), and the largest bedroom #1 with one 140 cm bed and one 80 cm bed. Room #1 also has a second TV (terrestrial). For more guests, we open an additional upstairs bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) and extra bedrooms as agreed during booking. Current bed layout in extra rooms: #2 (160 cm), #3 (2×80 cm), #4 (160 + 80 cm), #5 (2×80 cm). If your group includes, for example, 5 people and everyone wants their own bedroom, that’s possible for an extra fee — see our house rules for details.

🌲🌳 ABOUT THE CABIN IN SHORT 🌳🌲 Below you’ll find a VIDEO of the surroundings. In terms of location, this is one of the last truly unique places to stay near the Tatra Mountains. On the edge of Tatra National Park. Right next to the mountains. At the end of the Biały Potok meadow, where there are still no crowds or buildings, but still far enough from the main road to feel safe. What surrounds you is a huge open field, forest, a stream, and the sound of wind. In this setting stands an old shepherd's hut that holds generations of family history. Years ago we decided to keep it alive and protect this place from the passing of time. Much of the furniture and equipment (windows, stairs, beds, tables, chairs) was made or restored by hand, and you’ll find small family items and decorations that create a warm atmosphere. You can start your hike to the mountains without driving or looking for parking. It’s a 2-hour walk through the valley to the first mountain shelter, and 2 more hours to the high peaks. If you don’t plan long hikes, there are easy trails just outside the door. At the house you’ll also find deck chairs, hammocks, a portable table with benches, and a campfire spot under the stars. The cabin is located on a trail connecting two valleys: Lejowa (leading to Kościeliska) and Chochołowska. Sometimes someone with a backpack will walk by, but this part of the trail is quiet. Slow, mindful rest surrounded by nature — that’s what we had in mind creating this place. It’s our second home, cared for for years, and now shared with you.

🚗 LOCATION AND CONDITIONS 🚗

🛣️🚦 Access to the Lejowa Valley is via a rocky, uneven road — about 1300 m long. You don’t need an SUV, but drive slowly and carefully. Cars like Toyota Auris, Skoda Octavia, Ford Fiesta manage fine. Lower, sporty cars might touch stones. Very rarely, heavy snow or thawing may block access. Then you may need to walk to the cabin — keep this in mind.

🅿️ 🛻 You can park your car in a spot we’ll show you on our neighbor’s land. The gate is closed between 22:00 and 7:00. If you plan to come back late, you can park by the road near Lejowa Valley and walk to the cabin across the footbridge. We usually use this bridge every day and go to the neighbor’s land only when we need to take or load something into the car. Please respect night silence, especially near our neighbor’s house, and their privacy.

🎒🥾 Because of the mountain terrain, it’s hard to use strollers or wheeled suitcases here. We recommend packing into backpacks and lighter, easy-to-carry bags.

🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ You need to carry your luggage yourself. From the Lejowa Valley to the cabin is just a 3-minute walk with no heavy bags.

🪨❄️ The area is wild nature. There may be ice, slippery rocks, puddles, mud, slush, or deep snow. Sometimes you’ll need to shovel snow yourself — a shovel and brush are on-site, and we’ll help when we can. 🙂

🦋🪰 Sometimes there are flies or small insects, but no big problems. They usually come in through open windows into lit rooms. 🙂


🛟 WHAT WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE 🛟

We do not have a washing machine, electric dryer, or oven. We also don’t offer public WiFi, but there is good 4G and 5G coverage. Speed depends on local network traffic. Usually download speed is 10–20 Mbps (sometimes up to 60 Mbps), and upload 12–19 Mbps. Guests working remotely with their own mobile routers haven’t reported any problems.


👍 WHAT TO BRING – OUR TIPS 👍

✅🚗 In the mountains, from November to April, cars must have proper winter tires with good tread. The roads from Witów toward Zakopane go through forests where snow and ice stay longer. It’s also smart to bring a small shovel and snow brush. Tire chains are not always needed, but if you have them — bring them just in case.

✅🥾 Pack your things in backpacks and light bags. It’s better to walk two or three times with smaller loads than carry one heavy suitcase. Take hiking shoes, waterproofing spray, and an extra pair of shoes. Regular sneakers get dirty and wet easily. For icy conditions, small crampons can help, and for deep snow — gaiters and good boots will keep your clothes dry. Dress for the season. In the mountains it often snows between November and April. Even in summer, take a raincoat with a hood in your backpack. If your jacket is not waterproof, bring a poncho — or even an umbrella. A headlamp and extra batteries are also useful.

🍞🥑 You cook for yourself — that’s what the kitchen is for. We’ll send you a list of local taverns within a 20-minute walk. Some restaurants also deliver to the gate of Lejowa Valley, just 150 m from the house — it’s a short and easy walk downhill to pick up your food, so it’s worth asking. We have a campfire spot with grill and benches, and a portable table with benches for outdoor meals. In the kitchen you’ll find a large fridge, microwave, induction cooktop, kettle, sandwich grill (note: not a toaster), and a full set of dishes (mugs, plates, cutlery, etc.). For coffee lovers: moka pot, French press, manual grinder, and both ground and whole-bean coffee. We try to prepare a small starter set for you with sugar, salt, tea, and coffee. Just a reminder: we don’t have an oven, washing machine, tumble dryer, or public WiFi — but there is good 4G and 5G signal in the house.

💚 What can you do here? 💚

🌸 For those who enjoy the slow rhythm of life and want to be close to nature. We don’t have a jacuzzi, sauna, or parking right by the house. But we do have something rare — a peaceful place, with no neighbors looking through your windows. Right outside the door: quiet valley walks along mountain streams and full-day hikes to the high peaks. Nights are silent. Wind in the trees. Mostly just... peace. Much more peace than anywhere else.

🐑 Sheep visits: From spring to autumn, the shepherd passes by with his flock. Goats also appear from time to time.

🦌 Wild animals: You might hear or see them — even during the day. We once had a bear visit at night (we have a video!). But usually you’ll see rabbits, foxes, deer, stags, badgers, small weasels, or large birds hunting.

🌷 Spring: The meadow turns purple with crocuses. Sometimes guests arrive in “winter” and leave in “spring,” or the other way around. It’s beautiful every year — and still surprises us, even as hosts. Every visit feels different and special.

☀️ Summer: Kids play in the meadow and build little dams in the stream. There are also hidden spots by the water nearby. Hammocks in the middle of the meadow, forest sounds, and reading in peace. Campfire spot, lots of dry branches around, starry skies, and dark nights with a special mood.

🍂 Autumn: You might hear the call of stags or find rare mushrooms like Devil’s Fingers. Nature’s colors are as amazing as in spring, but the birds are quieter. It’s a time for calm and stillness.

❄️ Winter: Build snowmen, igloos, tunnels, and snow mazes right in front of the cabin. The nearest ski slope with a kids’ area and rental is just 800 m away. In Zakopane you’ll find an ice maze, and we can also recommend a sleigh ride in the snow.

💦 Thermal baths: The biggest one nearby is Chochołowskie Termy — with pools, massages, and spa treatments. In summer, visit the outdoor pool at Polana Szymoszkowa with a beautiful mountain view.

🎭 Nearby attractions:
Google will show you many — so we won’t list them all here. There really is a lot to choose from. Try a ready-made day trip like rafting on the Dunajec River – a great adventure! A driver picks you up and brings you back. We went once with small kids — it rained, so we bought ponchos, the kids wore rubber boots, and we wore sandals (which got soaked because water gets on the boat). Luckily, it was warm! You’ll also find bike rentals near the valleys. For kids: a dinosaur park in Zakopane (adults like it too!). For history and art lovers: museums and galleries. We, like many of our guests, prefer to avoid crowds. But if something really interests you, expect traffic during high season. On the Slovak side of the mountains, you’ll find even more great places — just allow more time and planning. 😉

👧👦 There’s a lot to do here for children — especially if you want to explore nature, mountain wildlife, and the outdoors together with them. :) We described everything in the “What to do here?” section.

💻 Peace, quiet, and the sound of the wind — you can work both inside and outside. We don’t offer public WiFi, but our guests have had no problems using fast LTE on their phones or mobile routers.
