We wave to you from a real shepherd's hut, where shepherds hid after their work, and the shepherd on the product was taking naps after dinner. He is so old that he remembers several generations of sheep, hundreds of frosts, thaws and juhasas jumping through the fire of a fire. We loved it with all our hearts and we decided that it could continue to provide shelter - mountain hikers, refugees from big cities, lovers of nature, sunrises above the mountain pastures and the starry sky of the Tatra Mountains.

Right after taking off the threshold, you land on the green trail leading to the Chochołowska Valley. We have a snowball throw to the Lejowa Valley and literally a few steps more to Kościeliska. Zakopane is at a safe distance, so if you want to, you can walk along Krupówki Street after lunch. But why, if there is an endless blue sky above us, a trail in front of us, and around us, silence and the truest peace, so appreciated by the Highlanders?

🌺 We could start with beautiful words and great reviews, but first we want to say: Szałas na Szlaku is in a very special and unique place. It’s beautiful, but it also has some difficulties. These are not a problem for people who know life in the countryside, but we want you to book with full knowledge. Please read the descriptions and look at the photos of the access road and the small bridge over the stream. If you have questions – feel free to ask. 😉

👤 We welcome adults aged 25+ with children. No pets. No parties. We have 12 beds, but sometimes there are limits on the number of people. The whole house is just for you, but the number of rooms and bathrooms depends on the offer. The standard price includes 1 room for 2 people. You can find details in our Terms. If you come with more people, please tell us when you book. 😉

We meet you in person between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. We check in only the number of adults and children from the booking (no animals). We welcome you and explain safety rules and give local tips. Sometimes we can check you in earlier – even from 11:00 AM. We will let you know the day before if possible. 😉


🚗 LOCATION AND CONDITIONS 🚗

🛣️🚦 The road to Dolina Lejowa is 1300 meters long and made of stones. You don’t need an SUV, but you must drive slowly and carefully. Cars like Toyota Auris, Skoda Octavia, and Ford Fiesta manage well. Low, sporty cars may hit stones – please remember this. In winter, after heavy snow, access can be hard. You may need to park at Biały Potok Ski Area or Ziębówka Restaurant and walk to the cabin. In winter, gaiters are useful to keep snow out of your shoes and pants. This is a normal trail for hikers from the Chochołowska Valley bus stop.

🅿️ 🛻 You can park your car on a neighbour’s property, in the place we show you. From there, it’s easier to carry bags. This parking is closed from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. If you come back late, you must park near Dolina Lejowa and walk to the cabin over the footbridge. We use the bridge daily and enter the parking only to take something from the car. Please be quiet near the neighbour’s house and respect their privacy.

🎒🥾 The path to the cabin goes over a small bridge. Please check the photos. We made a gallery with signs and helpful notes. It is not easy to use strollers or roll suitcases because the ground can be slippery (rain, mud, snow, ice). Use big, comfortable backpacks and light bags. Many families with kids visit us, but this should be your own decision.

🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ You must carry your luggage. From Dolina Lejowa it is about 250 meters, and from the parking it’s 130 meters. We help you if we can. Usually, carrying everything takes 10–20 minutes. Walking without luggage from Dolina Lejowa to the cabin takes about 3 minutes.

🪨❄️ Remember: this is already a mountain trail! The ground is natural – stones, grass, soil. It can be slippery depending on the season. Ice, melting snow, and deep snow can happen. Usually, you can walk around the ice or mud, but sometimes the whole path can be frozen. You might need to walk in snow or clean the path to your car. We have a snow shovel and broom. We try to help you. 🙂

🦋🪰 Sometimes we have flies or small insects – this is normal in wooden houses. Because we are near the forest, it’s possible, but usually not a problem. If you leave the light on and windows open, you may invite more flying guests. 🙂

🛜📱 We don’t have shared Wi-Fi, but mobile LTE signal works fine with most networks. We sometimes check internet speed – it’s usually 10–20 Mbps download and 15–19 Mbps upload. If you need to work, bring your own router. If not – enjoy a break from screens. 🙂

🌀🧦 We don’t have a washing machine, clothes dryer, or oven.

🗓️🔑 We treat your booking with care and try our best to make your stay great. We fix problems if possible. Please consider travel insurance in case of illness or emergency. Like for trips abroad, this is often a small cost. Because we are a small place, it’s hard for us to replace bookings – your deposit is non-refundable.


👍 OUR TIPS 👍

✅🚗 In the mountains, winter tires with good tread are a must from November to April. All-season tires are risky here – they are OK in cities, but not on snowy forest roads. Roads near Zakopane stay snowy or icy longer. Bring a strong metal snow shovel and a broom. Snow chains are not usually needed, but it’s OK to pack them.

✅🥾 Use backpacks and light bags. It’s better to walk two or three times than to carry one heavy suitcase. Bring strong shoes – hiking boots (even 2 pairs) and waterproofing spray. Sneakers get wet and dirty fast. For ice – use shoe spikes, for deep snow – gaiters. Dress for the season. Weather can change fast. Even in summer, bring a raincoat with a hood. Headlamps and extra batteries are also useful.

Make sure your GPS shows the entrance to Dolina Lejowa, not Groń (which is 12 minutes away). We will wait for you by the barrier at the time we agree the day before. We will walk with you to the cabin and tell you more about the area.
The house is in a safe place, away from the main Zakopane road – peaceful, but still close to popular attractions. There is a neighbour who lives 150 meters away with his family, but the hill between the houses gives you privacy.
It takes about 10 minutes (800 m) to walk to the main road via the trail toward the ski area. There are restaurants nearby, including the popular Ziębówka – you can walk there (20 minutes / 1300 m). Dolina Lejowa is just 170 m from the cabin and connects to Dolina Kościeliska. On the other side, after 450 m, starts Dolina Chochołowska.
This amazing location lets you start your day trips in the Tatra Mountains straight from your door – no driving, no traffic, no searching for parking.

⭐ If there are no dates in the Szałas, we have something else for 2 to 4 people. An atmospheric house in Witów based on the former carpentry shop of Grandpa Alek with the charming name "Sheep behind the fence". Very often you will meet... sheep behind the fence.

🍞🥑 Cook whatever you want! We will send you a list of taverns within a 20-minute walk, and some restaurants deliver food 150 m from the house - it's worth asking, because it's as much as flying down the hill to pick it up. We have a place for a bonfire with a grill and benches and a portable table with benches. In the kitchen there is a large fridge, microwave, induction hob, kettle, toaster and full equipment (cups, plates, cutlery, etc.). For coffee lovers: a coffee maker, French press, manual grinder and ground and whole bean coffee. To start, we provide sugar, salt, tea and coffee. We do not have a washing machine or oven.

💚 What to do here? 💚

You will find some tips below, but the most important: do not rush, listen, be, consciously participate in moments, do not occupy your mind with unnecessary matters, observe, feel one with nature.

🏞️ Close to nature
A vast clearing surrounded by mountains and forests, 150 m below a stream - ideal for children to play. You can build water dams, observe wild animals, feast by the bonfire. In the summer we put up hammocks and deckchairs.

🥾 Mountain trails and activities
Direct exit to the Lejowa, Chochołowska and Kościeliska Valleys. High mountains within reach. For the younger ones - a cable car to Gubałówka or Kasprowy Wierch. There are often rentals of various equipment, including bicycles, near the valleys.

💦 Geothermal pools
Termy Chochołowskie – the largest in Podhale, 15 min drive. Especially in summer, it is also worth visiting the open-air swimming pool on Polana Szymoszkowa with a beautiful view of the mountains.

❄️ Winter full of fun
Sleds, building igloos and secret tunnels. The nearest ski slope (800 m) can be reached on foot. We can also give you the details for a sleigh ride - perfect for children, without long breaks for bonfires and fun like in sleigh rides for adults.

🏙️ Zakopane and the surrounding area
Google will give you a lot of suggestions here, so we won't go into detail. For children, a dinosaur park or an ice labyrinth in winter. For art lovers, museums and galleries. The truth about us is that we don't like crowds, which is why we avoid Krupówki in the season.

🎭 Events
In the immediate vicinity, one thing is special and you can go on foot. Forest Festival at Siwa Polana (August 15) – competitions, local delicacies, highlander music.
