What a rich cottage is advice! And this is not just any cottage and not just any neighborhood. Crouching like an old woman at the very end of a genuine Roztocze village, she is waiting for her discoverers. Not just any. Explorers must like time travel, the smell of lilac in spring, the sound of footsteps on wooden boards, the rays of the sun falling on your face while drinking your morning coffee, and the starry skies of Roztocze. Moreover, tolerance to the neighbors' overactive rooster, chanterelles jumping over the fence and large amounts of fresh air is well seen here. It would be good if the Explorers liked the color green, because we have an abundance of it here.
We were joking! Green is never enough! As well as peace and quiet periodically interrupted by mooing, barking or happy gagging. You will not find many modern and plastic solutions here. On the other hand, you will find a tiled stove set up by local stove fitters, a fireplace and dew to cool tired feet. We leave you here a few books that will read themselves, and a freshly ground coffee that will wake up the biggest sleepers. The house has character and the history of several generations lives in it, which we like to wrap ourselves like a duvet on the coldest days. Fall into our wooden thresholds, make yourself at home, crouch by the tiled stove or go straight to the barn for the summer cinema and a glass of our apple compote. So what, are they willing to vacation in the countryside?
What a rich cottage is advice! We invite you to our (modest but renovated) wooden thresholds. Two comfortable rooms await us here:
- the downstairs bedroom can accommodate three people (we have a double bed and a fold-out corner),
- a spacious bedroom upstairs has a double bed, a single bed and also a fold-out corner sofa. We also have a bathroom with shower, a kitchen and a piece of garden. For the greatest comfort, we invite groups of six.
We want to emphasize that our house has a real character. You will not find many modern and plastic solutions here. You can spend time in it all year round, because it is heated by storage stoves, a huge tiled stove set up by local stove fitters and an atmospheric fireplace. Ecology is a very important issue for us, which is why we have insulated the house with Steico panels (plant chaff), which are a compromise between price, care for the environment, preserving the climate of the house and the health of its inhabitants. Most of the walls are made of wood, clay, old boards and bricks. The floorboards are at least fifty years old, the windows were made by local carpenters, and we saved the door from a demolished 100-year-old tenement house in Bydgoszcz. Believe us - we like objects with a soul, the older the better. Although we do not underestimate modernity, we have connected the fastest fiber-optic Internet to the house to enable remote work for our guests. He will be able to make a video call here, browse websites and send e-mails at any time of the day or night (although we do not recommend it, because it is the most fun to rest here). Don't take your alarm clock with you. A wake-up call will be guaranteed by the neighbor's rooster, then grazing cows and geese will join and the village orchestra will sometimes be complemented by barking. Sometimes a tractor kicks up, sometimes the wind hits the window, and sometimes a fly or a mosquito passes by your ear. After all, you are in the truest village.
Leave the dog in your care - we do not accept pets.
Come and visit us for a workation! We have a stable fiber-optic internet connected. Perfect for remote work. You can freely conduct a video conversation with us on the webcam, receive e-mails and send larger attachments. We have the best working conditions in the upstairs room (a single table with a view of the valley) and the downstairs dining room (table and 4 chairs). Throughout the day, you can use the place on the terrace (large table with space for 6 people), in the Brzask Barn (desk with a chair) and in the garden (deckchairs).
You eat what you want, or what the chef serves, which you have taken with you. In the kitchen you will find the most necessary appliances. You can do everyday shopping in Zwierzyniec and Szczebrzeszyn, and bigger shopping in Zamość.
From our nice neighbors, whose chanterelles jump over the fence to us, you can order milk and cheese as well as country eggs (from these chanterelles).
If you want to go to a restaurant, we recommend you:
- La Majella - original Italian pizza in Bondyrz
- Chata Rybaka - Roztocze trout farm in Bondyrz
- Mango Pub with good pizza, drinks and family atmosphere
- Traditional Ice Cream at Bachty in Zwierzyniec
- Chocolate shop in Zamość
- Ormiańska Restaurant in Zamość
In our village, it is worth activating the offline mode, turning off all electronic contraptions, changing into comfortable clothes and starting a real rest. We recommend taking an unfinished book, a bottle of wine, a puzzle box with you and, as is usually the case in the world, take it easy. We wholeheartedly recommend you trips around the area (it is always worth taking a mushroom basket with you) - the closer and the more distant. For those longing for history and beautiful architecture, we recommend going to Zamość, Janów Lubelski, Lublin and Lviv - believe that you will not regret these trips. We also recommend a trip to Zwierzyniec and one of its districts - Borek, which is a complex of over 70 wooden houses from the 1920s and 1930s.
You will not be disappointed if you dream of parties and festivals, because we have a lot of it here. The biggest event in nearby Zwierzyniec (invariably for 22 years) is the Summer Film Academy (mid-August). The Academy gathers fans of niche and more popular cinema, and prominent filmmakers and famous actors are often invited. At this time, four cinemas are opening in Zwierzyniec, including one under the night sky in the courtyard of the Brewery in Zwierzyniec. We also recommend you the legendary night concerts that only start at midnight. In July, one of the most interesting folk festivals in Europe - Folkowisko - takes place in Gorajec. Music lovers will go to the Żelebsko punk festival, Zwierzynieckie Rockowisko or the Cieszanów Rock Festival. You will hear more intense burdens at the end of August in Zwierzyniec, when the Jazz Vocal Workshop takes place. In Szczebrzeszyn, be sure to visit the Capital of Polish Language Festival. After all, "In Szczebrzeszyn the beetle sounds in the reed and Szczebrzeszyn is famous for it".
Nature lovers must go to the Roztocze National Park, which is associated primarily with peace and quiet. An interesting fact for those who are initiated: this is where the Polish Konik breeding was established. It is also worth visiting the Janowskie Forests, which are a bird refuge (with a bit of luck you will see capercaillies, black storks, nightjar and little bitterns), and there are bicycle routes in the refuge. In the village of Szklarnia, there is a Biłgoraj horse breeding farm. It is worth visiting at least one of the numerous quarries here: Józefów, Krasnobród, Nowiny or Bruśno. If you want a bath, go to the Echo Ponds located in the Roztocze National Park.
Sportsmen will also not be bored, because you can take your bike with you and dash along the beautiful GreenVelo trail, the Ordynacki Route or the Roztocze Hills trail. We also recommend the "Na Skraju Roztocze" bicycle route (it runs along asphalt roads not frequented by cars or along good quality forest paths and agricultural field roads) or the popular Zamość Commune's Bicycle Trail. In the area you will also find horse riding schools, because the rumor is that Roztocze should be visited from a horse back. Canoeing trips are organized on Wieprz and Tanwia - it is worth going.
Kids are welcome with us. Usually they play in a large fenced and safe yard: they play football, badminton, rubber jumping (our redord is "punch"!). We are often visited by chickens from behind the fence, which is a great attraction for children. The neighbors have cows and geese that graze in the part of our field behind the fence - the little ones can watch them for hours, and the scarecrows try to draw their images.
At home, we have prepared a "rain rescue kit" - games and books for children. A big attraction is our great Dawn barn, which we covered with carpets and now it can perform various functions:
- playroom,
- yoga room (and other exercises),
- cinemas (we rent a good-quality projector and speakers).
Zamość and Biłgoraj offer many attractions for children.
Don't let this open-air museum fool you, because our Internet will please many programmers. In the dining room you can work at the table or spread your legs on the sofa. In one of the rooms there is a place at the table with an amazing view of the valley. On warm days, we also invite you to the terrace, where at your disposal there is a large table with space for 6 people and deckchairs. In Stodola Brzask you will find a desk with a chair and silence. The barn is not heated however, so this option remains open during the summer.
