After crossing the cobalt door, you may meet Funia, who loves guests, so she will probably want to show you around the rooms. Full of old furniture, carefully selected lamps, searched-out accessories, hand-painted birds. Once you have unpacked your suitcases, we invite you to the ground floor. To the club room for a cup of coffee or to the table. On Sundays, people suffering from light sleep may be woken up by church bells, and apart from that, only Mr. Józef's geese and turkeys let you know it's time to get up. Get up for breakfast with local products, and then walk to the lake, through the gorge for mushrooms or to the neighbor's ranch to admire the wild horses.
The place speaks for itself, casts a spell and takes no prisoners.
We can bet that few of you have heard of the Gryżyński Landscape Park, because before I bought this majestic house, I was also a complete novice. All is not lost. There will be time for a walk in the forest, for wine tourism, swimming in the lake, walking along educational trails, looking for a white-tailed eagle and watching deer from the windows of the house. If these are your ideas for attractions, it's a sign that we are certainly on similar wavelengths and will like each other.
Welcome to our Uroczysko, a 150-year-old house that stands in the heart of the Gryżyński Landscape Park and right next to the village church. On Sundays, you can hear the bells here, such is our folklore, but every day we hear the sounds of bird gossip, the rustle of trees and a stream.
After crossing the cobalt door, you will reach the ground floor of the guest house. Here is the common area - a club room, a fireplace lounge and a 100-meter multi-purpose room, which serves as a dining room or a ballroom, for example. There are also two bathrooms here - women's and men's and a beautiful staircase with an entrance to the first floor.
The terrace adjacent to the room opens up a beautiful view of the forest and the sources of the Gryżynka River with a beaver pool.
The house can accommodate up to 18 people in 5 rooms. 4 rooms are equipped with large beds and an additional fold-out, double sofa bed. The last, fifth room is a double room. Each room has a fully equipped bathroom with a shower, and three of them have windows. Room number one even has a bathroom with access to the balcony.
Each room has its own individual character. The furniture and trinkets were found at various online auctions or purchased as unique pieces. The lamps are the apples of our eye and we have been collecting them for years, some are new and designer, others collected at flea markets are already antiques. The rooms were decorated with ornithological wall paintings by the artist Szymon Kurpiewski and so, for example, thanks to him, in room no. 6 behind the beam, under the ceiling, a woodpecker carved out a small hole.
We invite you to the table. The head chef is the hostess, and you will be our most important culinary critics. We serve breakfasts and dinners prepared using local ingredients (of course, within the limits of possibilities). Sourdough bread from the bakery, cold cuts from the butcher, eggs from the host, tomatoes from the local market.
The menu is diverse and depends on the season. It is born in our head spontaneously and always a tasty dish comes out of these ideas. Sometimes vegan, sometimes not at all. Breakfast is a table bending with goodness. There may be a vegan white bean and pear pâté, buckwheat bread baked in our own oven and delicacies from the local shop, plus cold cuts. Scrambled eggs, shakshuka, pancakes or maybe rice pudding will pamper the palate.
During the holiday season from June 1 to August 31, we serve dinner only on weekends (Friday-Sunday) for PLN 138. Soup, main course with extras, dessert, drinks. Soup is a home classic or a variation on this theme. Pumpkin or cucumber soup made from low-salt vegetables in vegan broth or green pea cream with the addition of apple, drizzled with olive oil with turmeric and decorated with an apple chip. Then the main course with extras, and finally creme de la creme, or dessert. We make the best cakes in this part of Poland, so it is worth tempting yourself with yeast cake with currants and blueberries, cheesecake, apple pie, vegan chocolate cake or homemade cake with plums under crumble. Out of season and at the request of Guests, we also serve dinner on weekdays consisting of two courses (a starter or soup and main course) for PLN 98.
Instead of asking about boredom, we prefer to find out if you need anything more than peace these days? What we usually want most is more time for ourselves, settling down, clean air and a little break from the screens. These are the attractions we have in Gryżyn. Absolutely no attractions in the literal sense.
However, we have a few ideas for spending time just for yourself. An old house in the middle of the village, in the Gryżyński Landscape Park. Lake Grażyńskie is two kilometres away, nature educational trails, glacial and undulating terrain. A tour of the vineyards, of which we have several in the area. There are breathtaking gorges, insanely blooming heather, 300-year-old oaks in countless numbers. Mushrooms, forest fruits, walks, lounging on a pier by the lake.
We are in the heart of the Landscape Park, so we will introduce you to our green surroundings. Gryżyński Landscape Park has 3065.9 ha and its scope protects the areas of the Gryżyna glacial channel. It is a kind of "open-air museum" of post-glacial sculpture. There are many non-draining depressions in the shape of long embankments and domed hills. There are 6 lakes in the Park: Jelito, Kałek, Jatnik, Grabinek, Bagienko and several fish ponds. The main river is Gryżyński Potok (also called Gryżyna), which runs right next to Uroczysko.
Lake Kałek is one of the most attractive lakes in Gryżyński Landscape Park for recreation. Clean water, the possibility of swimming or fishing, piers and the surrounding forest make it one of our favorite lakes in the area. An 8-kilometer educational trail runs around the lake, and its beginning is only 5 minutes from our Guest House.
You can also explore the surrounding forests with a basket in your hand. There is a chance that even inexperienced mushroom pickers will return with an armful of hats. In the local forests, we collect common butter mushrooms and ceps, because we are not mushroom experts, and we throw the ones with spongy linings into the basket.
Even if you do not think about bending down to pick butter mushrooms, it is worth it, and even necessary, to go to the forest. Oak alleys, pine groves on the undulating, post-glacial terrain are breathtaking. Just cross the country road to find yourself among wildlife. You can start a walk along the educational trail from your house. The "Gryżyńskie Uroczyska" route is about 10 kilometers long and leads through virgin areas. It is perfectly marked with signposts and information about the unique species of plants and animals inhabiting the surrounding forests. It leads through the Gryżyńskie Szuwary, bridges on numerous streams, ravines, a glacial channel, peat bogs, a glacial lake and an endless forest.
If you are interested in enotourism, i.e. wine trips, you have hit the nail on the head. Lubuskie has brilliant conditions for growing grapes, because it is the warmest in Poland, and the soil is light, sandy, supported by a layer of clay, and in addition, it is surrounded by lakes and forests and undulating glacial terrain. Within a radius of 25 kilometres there are several smaller and larger vineyards. The nearest "Od Nowa" and "Pod Lubuskim Słońcem" are located just a few kilometres from Gryżyna.
The Od Nowa Vineyard is located only 8 kilometres from Uroczysko Gryżyna. It has been run by Mrs. Maria for 9 years. The vineyard grows grapes of the Riesling and Pinot Blanc varieties. From the fruit of these varieties, Mr. and Mrs. Olejarz produce excellent sparkling wine using the champagne method.
A 6-kilometer road through the forest will take you to the Pod Lubuskim Słońcem vineyard, which has been run by Mrs. Bożena for over a dozen years. You will be able to visit the vineyard, listen to information about grape varieties and taste the wonderful drink. You can also buy wines. We recommend the wonderful red "Mona", winner of many awards.
A little further, 22 kilometers from Uroczysko Gryżyna, in our county town, Krosno Odrzańskie, Guillaume Dubois founded the Gostchorze vineyard 14 years ago. He uses the experience gained in Paris and Champagne to produce Polish sparkling wines, which are winners of awards in competitions in Zielona Góra and Jasło.
What’s there for children?
