Prague's Holešovice is such a small Czech Berlin. A place where futuristic buildings meet functionalist monsters, classic four-story cellars and a fragrant hipster bistro, and on every corner you will have the opportunity to see some experimental art. And here we found amazing accommodation. It's not a villa. It's not a houseboat. It's a growing, floating house. Doesn't that sound cosmic?
A designer interior wrapped in elegant shapes awaits you on the banks of the Vltava in Holešovice. It consists of 3 modules so that 2 to 4 holidaymakers can comfortably meditate in it. The whole glass wall merges with the surroundings and directly from the bed allows a beautiful view of the river and the banks of Prague.
This timeless oasis of peace and art was born in the minds of designers Adam Jirkal and Jerry Koza, with the brave support of engineer Tomáš Kalhouse. Graceful curves do not look UFO-like in the Prague port, but they play beautifully with the rippling Vltava. The music of the future sounds not only in the sophisticated construction and perfect interior, but also in the application of the smart home system. So you can conveniently control all electronic jokes with your tablet.
We do not know what our future will really look like. But if it's at least a bit like Port X, then we have something to look forward to.
The interior of the floating house Port X records not only romantic stays, but also trips with family or friends. The bedroom with a giant window offers an unusual view of Prague. At the same time, you will not lose the cozy atmosphere and intimacy. In the bedroom you can relax on a king-size double bed. The idea for a handmade bed made of natural materials originated in Denmark, and this is probably why, after waking up, you will feel a little bit of the famous Danish happiness and joy of life.
If you arrive at four, spread out a wonderfully comfortable Italian sofa in the living area for sleeping. The living room, like the bedroom, is decorated in larch paneling and through the glazed French windows there is a beautiful, soothing view of the undulating Vltava.
The floating house also has a covered terrace where you can sit with a book or morning coffee. If you have something to do, you will definitely benefit from the minimalist, but very functional work corner and view. Wifi goes surprisingly fast. Prague has never been so magical as it was from the surface of the Vltava.
The common room can be a living room, children's corner, study, kitchen and dining room. In addition, a cinema, dance floor, library, yoga studio - just about everything you will be in the mood for during your Slow Travel vacation.
The vessel has two toilets and an original bathroom, located in the bedroom. Of course, there is always hot water and quality eco-cosmetics.
Port X consists of 6 modules, in which the floor and ceiling are connected to one wall. This creates a "C" -shaped cross-section. The second wall didn't even seem to exist. It consists of openable French windows that lead to the terrace. The timeless material from which the "building" is made has excellent insulating properties. Thanks to air conditioning, which cools in summer and heats in winter, exploring Prague through Port X is a luxurious experience at any time of the year.
And don't think we'll let you twist your tricks and flip through complicated manuals to control all your equipment! Port X is "smart", so you control light / dark / heat / coolness / music… by tapping lightly on the iPad located at the door. How futuristic!
Are you an individual who only needs a cup of fragrant coffee in the morning, or is a breakfast ritual the highlight of your holiday for several hours? We have good news for both camps. Breakfast minimalists will love our well-equipped breakfast bar with cereals, milk, tea and coffee from the Nespresso machine. You can have a little breakfast, enjoy a caffeine moment for yourself on the terrace, and then calmly clean up again in the heated duvets. There is no hurry, you are on vacation. However, Holešovice is a modern location with hipster businesses of the Berlin type, so we highly recommend that you enjoy breakfast in one of them. Gourmets, foodies, gastrophiles, but also breakfast traditionalists will lick behind their ears. For example, the famous Home kitchen is a stone's throw away.
If dancing around the hob is your favorite artistic discipline, you will surely be pleased that even in our floating house there is an equipped floating kitchenette. In a family or friendly circle, you can have lunch or dinner at the dining table, as other than with a view of Prague. Or have something delivered. There are really nice restaurants in the area.
According to the results of a survey from September 2021, Prague is the MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY OF PLANET. It would be a shame to leave this place unexplored when we have it right next to our noses. We know that the Old and New Towns are full of architectural gems. But we will introduce you to the Prague district of Holešovice and the adjacent Letná.
The village of Holešovice was annexed to Prague in 1884. Originally an industrial area, it began to grow in the 1930s with unconventional buildings. The avant-garde Cubist Libeň Bridge is still the longest bridge over the Vltava in Prague. Documentation and models of the bridge can be seen in the National Technical Museum . According to the architect Fuchs, the functionalist Trade Fair Palace is today the seat of the National Gallery in Prague. It focuses mainly on Czech modernism and is definitely worth a visit.
Although the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice is a carousel ride, take a walk there anyway. The Art Nouveau Industrial Palace, the Lapidary of the National Museum and especially the light fountain, which according to František Křižík's plans have been operating for more than 130 years, are worth admiring. Directly from the Exhibition Grounds, dive into Prague's largest park, Stromovky . Here you absorb oxygen and calm. Have a picnic here, go skating or cycling, throw a frisbee… You will feel like you are with your head in the clouds in the Planetarium, which is open every day. And a beautiful walk will take you to Letná .
We love design, which is why Port X is full of canvases and photos by our favorite authors. Here you can find porcelain by Jiří Pelcl or Maxim Velčovský. Almost our entire library is about architecture and design. If you feel the same way, don't miss DOX , a nearby center for modern art. You can recognize it from a distance, according to the Gulliver airship, which was designed for the roof of DOX by Martin Rajniš. For lovers of non-traditional theater, dance and acrobatic elements, we recommend visiting the experimental space of La Fabrika and Jatka78 .
And when you get a taste for "traditional Prague", you can get to the center by public transport in 20 minutes.
What’s there for children?
Children have their own corner with toys, a table and chairs in the common area. In addition, the opportunity to make your own screening of a favorite fairy tale or dance party. But there is also a lot for them in the area.
In addition to bright Prague hits, such as a zoo or dinosaur park, you will be delighted by the National Agricultural Museum. Yes, you read that right. The exhibitions are amazingly interesting and arranged so that even the smallest children do not get bored. There is also a beautiful view from the roof. Beehives are located here, but if you don't get angry with bees, you have nothing to fear. Don't miss the famous "silence lab". With the help of modern technologies and installations made of living plants, you will find yourself in a beautiful Czech forest, where you will find a healing silence, weakly interwoven with a natural forest symphony.
