The first guests were welcomed by our Grandma Wiktoria. When Grandpa Alek was out fishing, Grandma made plans for the house extension, smoked fish and ran a hospitable pavilion. There was a unique atmosphere of coziness in the house, and the fish tasted so delicious that there were more guests every year. Grandma became a local legend, and her guest house was a frequently reserved oasis of peace. Now the house has her name and our energy. We renovated the rooms, added a few modern touches (without losing the old atmosphere) and we invite you for a sip of iodine, the sea breeze and a break from the crazy pace of life. We will entertain you as beautifully as we can - just as Grandma Wiktoria hosted.
We are in an ideal location - we have one foot in Gdańsk and the other in the Mewia Łacha Reserve, which is popular with seals, beavers and terns. From the north we are flooded by the waters of Gdańsk Bay, from the south by Martwa Wisła, from the east by Przekop Wisły, and from the west by Wisła Śmiała. We have the status of an ecological island, what's more - our area has been recognized as a Protected Landscape Area. We are not surprised by these titles - it is a unique place in terms of nature, as well as the lack of commercialism, which so strongly invades the coast. If you dream about a real rest at the Polish seaside - we are a bull's eye. So there is something for nature lovers, tired of being in the crowd, and those who would not leave St. Dominika - they can literally jump out of him. There is a place to walk, catch a tan, inhale iodine and lift castles in the sand. Come, we'll make you a cup of good coffee, serve a cake that melts in your mouth and tell you some secrets from our neighborhood.
The House on the Island has 9 different rooms and apartments. We created them in such a way that we felt that we would be happy to spend a longer time in them. We have prepared for you:
- double apartments Gdynia, Sopot with a double bed,
- four-person apartment in Gdańsk with two bedrooms,
- five double rooms (Fala, Muszla, Bałtyk, Plaża, Bursztyn), with a double bed upstairs and a sofa downstairs,
- Błękit studio for two people with the possibility of sleeping another two on a fold-out sofa.
Each room and apartment has its own kitchen or kitchenette and a private bathroom. Some of them have access to private terraces, and we can all meet in the main dining room for breakfast (we call it Art, i.e. Art, Coffee, Kitchen), in the garden (the whole place is at your disposal, and we have planned atmospheric corners so that you can relax) how to best relax among the greenery), in the Greenhouse, i.e. a boho-style garden gazebo, or in the workshop and yoga room (Shala).
We have fast internet, so you can watch movies here, but also work (if you have to, you have to). We welcome older children (but we do not have any special facilities for them) and pets - everyone will enjoy a holiday!
Are you hungry? Then you've come to the right place! From the morning in our Art, it smells of freshly brewed coffee, homemade pastries and you can hear the morning bustle. We serve you delicious breakfasts with an emphasis on their vegetarian versions (of course, we will also prepare something delicious for carnivores). Breakfast is a composition of our pastries: bread, challah, various pastes, jams, hummus, healthy, rural eggs and warm delicacies such as pancakes, waffles, pancakes, boiled eggs or scrambled eggs. For breakfast, we serve delicious coffee, tea or infusion. In the spring and summer season, we buy delicious vegetables from our aunt, who has her garden and greenhouses, about 400 meters from us.
We also offer dinners for organized groups, eg workshop participants. If you are interested in organizing workshops in our house, ask us for an offer.
In addition, you can cook in your kitchens and annexes or visit one of the restaurants we recommend.
Sobieszewska Island, where we are located, although it is a district of Gdańsk, still remains undiscovered and peaceful. We recommend morning walks, during which you may only encounter a flock of terns or a seal resting on the beach. You can go for a bike ride - one way from the house you can go to the center of Gdańsk and then to Gdynia. In the opposite direction, choose an extremely picturesque bicycle path to reach the town of Piaski (just under the border with Russia). We are surrounded by the waters of the Bay of Gdańsk from the north, Martwa Wisła from the south, Przekop Wisły from the east, and Wisła Śmiała from the west. We have the status of an ecological island, what's more - our area has been recognized as a Protected Landscape Area. We are not surprised by these titles - it is a unique place in terms of nature and the lack of commercialism that is so encroaching on the Polish coast. If you dream of a real holiday by the Polish seaside, we are the perfect choice.
Recent years have brought the first large events taking place right under our noses: a Scout rally, holiday concerts and a balloon festival celebrating the 125th birthday of Sobieszewska Island. The most recognizable festival in Gdańsk is the St. Dominic's Fair - it is worth visiting the center, visiting hundreds of kilometers of stalls with various products, and then running away and catching your breath in solitude. In fact, there is something to do in Gdańsk all year round (including visiting the Uphagen House, the Amber Museum, the Solidarity Center, climbing the tower of St. Mary's Basilica, walking along the Royal Road). A big advantage is the fact that you can reach us from the center of Gdańsk by public transport - bus line 112 runs from the Gdańsk Railway Station every half an hour (also a night line). The journey takes approximately 45-50 minutes.
In the garden, there is a chill zone with comfortable armchairs, a greenhouse and grass where you can spread a blanket or deckchairs and immerse yourself in a book (we have several of them). If we're talking about immersion, it's quite close to the Sobieszewska beach - be sure to take sunscreen and a baseball cap with you.
What’s there for children?
As a rule, we accept adult guests and we do not have any attractions for kids.
What’s there for employees?
Our Sztukawa (artistic cafe exclusively for guests of the House) offers a friendly space for both enjoying meals and working. You can take a seat at a long, coworking table, hide in a corner at a small table or sit on a stool in the kitchen. Small children do not visit our cafe, so your duties are performed with a pleasant hum of quiet music and conversations of other guests. Bigger bustle can happen during breakfast, when the queue to the coffee pot is longer, due to the morning hours.
We do not have typical workplaces in the rooms, but you can perform some of your duties on a comfortable sofa or pouf. There will also be smaller tables or regular tables in the rooms.
