A charming guest house has always been our dream. Smelling with home-made bread, cozy, with an old soul and comfortable beds. When in 2015, in tiny Zielonów, we discovered an old school from 1938, we already knew. It just feels. The building was in a deplorable state, but no wonder. For years, it was a German primary school, the seat of the Blindflugschule (school of blind piloting), where pilots learned to pilot planes in poor visibility, an aviation school for dive bomber pilots, a holiday and youth hostel. When it came into our hands, it needed a good clearing of rubble, renovation and a spa. Our whole family was involved in its renovation: the son in grinding the old stairs, the girls in the renovation of second-hand furniture, the head of the family in cleaning the old brick on the wall. It was a lot of work, but we knew it was a game worth the candle. See for yourself - our charming guesthouse has become a reality.
Now we can serve you fresh rye bread and teach you how to bake sourdough loaves. Tell you about Warmian traditions and introduce you to our dialect. On Saint John weave wreaths and throw them on the water, and in September go fishing in Gietrzwałd. We invite you to the Napiwocko-Ramucka Forest, to Lake Pluszne, where we may not have a shop, but peace cannot be bought.
In the heart of Warmia there is an old school from 1938, whose charm we fell in love with at first sight and we decided to renovate it while respecting its many years of history. We have kept as many original elements as possible, e.g. 80-year-old wooden stairs to the first floor, a brick wall, and beautiful ceiling beams. We added a green porch to the house, which became the main entrance. When entering the corridor, you will be greeted by green paneling, referring to the school decor, and a row of hangers, just like in a cloakroom.
The platter also includes:
- a large common living room with comfortable sofas, window seats, a wardrobe with board games and a dining area with a large table,
- open kitchen for shared use (access may be limited in the morning when we are preparing breakfast for you),
- 1 double room with an additional sofa and a bathroom, where we accept guests with pets.
On the first floor there are:
- 3 double rooms with bathrooms,
- 2 apartments with a mezzanine, each for 4-5 people. On the mezzanine there are 3 single beds that can be joined, and downstairs there is a fold-out sofa. The sunny apartment has a bathroom with a bathtub, the forest apartment has a bathroom with a shower.
The living room opens onto a sunny terrace. In the garden (2,500 m) there are 4 places to rest, a place for a bonfire, barbecues, and a barn where you can store your bikes.
Since the plot is only partially fenced, you are responsible for keeping an eye on your four-legged pets. We also ask you to take care not to disturb other guests with their barking or meowing.
FREE WI-FI, which will be available from June 2024 without interruption!
Great place for WORKATION! alternative wedding, yoga, psychological and other workshops.....
We know how important it is to have warm coffee in the morning, fresh bread and breakfast under the nose. That is why we prepare a breakfast buffet for you - you eat as much as you want. I have been baking sourdough rye bread for years, so it will definitely appear at breakfast. There will be eggs from the village, honey from Gryźlin and my unusual preserves. Nettle lemonade, pickled dandelion bunches, rowan preparations for meats, ground elderberry pesto or pickled tomatoes, which so far have few amateurs, but who knows - maybe you will love them. If you are willing, I will offer elderberry champagne.
We have delicious water in the tap, so you don't have to bring us bottled water.
The kitchen (except when we prepare breakfast for you) is at your disposal. The kitchen is shared, so you will share it with other household members. The kitchen is open to the living room with dining room, you can eat there or in the garden - the choice is yours.
There are barbecues in the garden, so for dinner you can, for example, catch tench, carp or asp in the "Zezuj" Special Fishery and grill it fresh.
We also highly recommend dinners at Zajazd Gryźliński.
We believe that our corner of Warmia is an ideal place for an active but peaceful rest. We don't really have any entertainment here. The only shop in the village was closed last year and the nearest one is in Gryźliny 3.5 km from us. Oh, such attractions.
Closer to our heart are walks and forest baths in the beautiful Napiwodzko-Ramucka Forest or bicycle rides (bring bicycles). From the very house you can go on marked bicycle routes. For example, the picturesque one around Lake Pluszne (29 km). During the 4-hour trip, you should stop at the fish fry in Pluski.
A beautiful bicycle route, among the fields and meadows of Warmia, leads to Gietrzwałd. 27 km and is an asphalt road rarely used by cars.
If you don't have the strength to drive several dozen kilometers, we recommend a trip to the open-air museum in Olsztynek. It's only 8 km one way, so you can take the kids. You will drive through the forest or along side roads (backup) where car traffic is negligible. After visiting the open-air museum, it is absolutely necessary to visit the Jagodzianka confectionery, for the best blueberries in the world or in the entire galaxy.
We have 300 meters to Pluszne Lake, and there is a grassy beach with a gentle descent, a bridge and complete relaxation. In the summer, the commune authorities pour clean sand on the shore, so the kids can make cupcakes. You can also rent kayaks on the lake.
If you prefer river rafting, we recommend Marózka. It is called little Krutynia, but it differs from Krutynia in the lack of crowds. In addition, it matches the beauty and charm of the queen of kayaking. The trip starts about 10 km from us. Telephone numbers for equipment rental are waiting for you on site.
There are two steps to mushrooms, literally, all you have to do is take two steps into our Napiwodzko-Ramucka Forest and bend down to the litter, and then start filling the basket with hats. The basket is in place - there will be no shortage of baskets for you.
Depending on the occasion, we will organize sourdough bread baking workshops, culinary workshops, games and activities with elements of the Warmian dialect or small special events. On Saint John's Day, we will make wreaths and throw them into the waving water, as it used to be done, and the bachelors will catch these wreaths. In September we will tell you about łosiery to Gietrzwałd.
You can take a walk (2 km) to the place commemorating the Greselnyk mill in Zielona Góra. It has stood here since 1356, by a stream, at the source of the Pasłęka River. Now there are its remains, but the place is extremely charming, and local activists make sure that it is not forgotten.
In winter, we recommend cross-country skiing, because the terrain is undulating like karpatka. However, the forest trails are wild, unpaved, so if the snow is good, you can try walking along the Warmian paths. If you practice cross-country skiing, take your equipment with you.
What’s there for employees?
There may have been a school here once, but now the hard chairs and school desks are gone. In the common areas we have prepared for you 3 separate tables for about 15 people, an armchair, two sofas and small tables. On the charming veranda you can work at the round table. For all those who prefer concentration, we suggest staying in the room. You will find a table or desk, chairs, armchair or sofa.
