Quick check

Let us open the pages of history in 1908, in Głuchołazy, or rather in the pre-war spa town of Bad Ziegenhals. It was then that Count Franz von Ballestrem purchased almost 11 hectares of land with a forest and the "Waldesruh" (Leśne Zacisze) guesthouse situated by a pond from Heinrich Ertelt. In 1909, he built the Forest School (Waldschule) for the children of his employees, in which, until the 1920s, "green schools" were organized for children of workers, miners and steel workers from Upper Silesia. Over the next decades, the Forest School served children, and after the Second World War as a holiday center, in 2014 it became the property of our Benevolens Foundation and gained another incarnation. It's artistic.

We want the Artist's House to serve artists and people of art for leisure and creative work. The corridors act as an art gallery, the rooms are filled with furniture from various eras and parts of Europe, the attic is a space for creative frenzy, and the park is our House of Culture. If we hit your sensitive chord, let it take you. For watercolor and glass painting workshops, Promenade concerts, vernissages, exhibitions, open-air painting and poetry meetings. Here you will get inspired to create, and perhaps you will immediately jump into a whirlwind of a creative trance. One does not need to look far for inspiration. It is enough to leave the House straight to the Spa Park, to the forest, to Zdrojnik, to the trails of the Opawskie Mountains, following the traces of the gold mine. Maybe you will create a work of life here, maybe not, but one thing is for sure, you will have a rest as befits a spa. Bene volens in Latin means to wish someone well - come and see that we wish you the best.

The flood did not spare us, but you can still come. We need your reservations!

A place where wonderful nature meets a rich history and passion for creation. We are a group of people who were fascinated by the Forest School in Głuchołazy with its history and charm, so that we decided to give it a second life. Our motto is: Unity in Diversity. In 2014, we established the Benevolens Foundation and then our (long and arduous) adventure began with building from the ruins of the former forest school (Waldschule). First, we revitalized a part of the spa park, on the basis of archival postcards and photos, we created a place for recreation in the bosom of nature, with walking paths, a larch gazebo, where cultural events, workshops, painting workshops, promenade concerts and others take place seasonally. At the end of 2021, we completed the renovation of the Forest School, in the meantime we published a monograph on the place - we are constantly looking for information and curiosities in archives in Poland and abroad. We talk to interesting people, historians and living witnesses of history to learn as much as possible about the past of the Forest School. We have already done a lot to restore the splendor of this unique place, we still have some work ahead of us, but we would like to welcome you now :)

On the farm in Alsace there are flowery bedspreads on the beds, and the painted furniture (wardrobe and dressing table with crystal glass and a mirror), tarnished by the time, still reflects the atmosphere of the French countryside. A room on the ground floor surrounded by a porch. On the farm, small dogs are grinded.

Dom artysty to wspaniałe miejsce zlokalizowane w samym parku zdrojowym w malowniczych Głuchołazach.
