They say that there is nothing further, because in Pasterka the road ends and does not lead anywhere, but it is here that life can slow down. Uphill trails, thickets of greenery, rock monadnocks, Stołowe Mountains National Park, cross-country skiing, hot chocolate in the shelter. There is no shop, ATM, stalls, or even mobile phone coverage, but there is a place where the holidays have reigned for 100 years. A family guest house where we are waiting for you with a cup of delicious tea and beetroot ice cream.
We will not hide that our Szczelinka is not a model of a 4* hotel. The windows are small, because this was the reality 100 years ago, but it allows you to sleep well and for a long time. Each room is a bit different because otherwise you couldn't carve functional bathrooms out of what used to be a youth hostel with 130 bunk beds. Sometimes the floor creaks, because it is supported by wooden beams planed by hand. But, and this is very important but. We have a lot of heart for children and animals, delicious cuisine with a short menu, homemade bread for breakfast every day, several rooms to spend time with others, music from vinyl, cross-country skis for rent, knee-high snow crampons. Experience your holidays with us like in the days of trips to the "resort". Where children had their own safe space to play, and parents finally had some peace. We would like your children to remember Szczelinka in this way. And from many places we hear voices that this is so.
In a family pension built before the war. You will reach us by a narrow road, such as in Lower Silesia. You will eat well, rest, breathe, there is a chance that you will make life-long friendships with strangers not long ago, and give your children a holiday in the countryside.
At your disposal, in thick walls, with small windows that were once supposed to counteract heat loss, we have 13 comfortable rooms - single and double (some with an additional sofa, on which you can either put your child to sleep or sit down and read a book). Those with bathrooms, and even smart TV (apparently some like it, but you don't have to turn them on).
There are also 3 apartments in the property. The largest with a balcony, kitchenette and two bedrooms, and two mini-class apartments, also with two bedrooms, but smaller, instead of an annex, there is a kettle and a fridge, as well as a small common space with a sofa and a table.
In Szczelinka we have a lot of space to spend time outside the rooms. In the first place, you will probably go to the Dining Room, which houses the reception, bar and restaurant. It is a unique space with a huge chimney in the middle, a remnant of a pre-war canteen and a post-war attempt to suspend concrete ceilings on something.
We also have a Fireplace Room for you, in which there is no longer a fireplace, but there is a wall full of literature. The fireplace is a space where you will also find a play area for children, and that is why, and perhaps most of all, because it is an alcohol-free zone.
In the basement, behind a decently soundproof door, you will find a Club Room, and in it: a place to sit, an adapter with vinyls to listen to, books and magazines. The Club Room is a space for adults, we do not forbid children to stay here, but it is a place where mostly adults are to feel comfortable. The hall is open 24 hours a day, so if you fancy a longer stay, this is the perfect place for it.
We won't let you go without breakfast, you can be sure of that. And since we're crazy about food in every respect, breakfast has to have fresh, crusty bread, otherwise it's inappropriate. It so happens that we don't have a bakery nearby, so every morning we bake a new batch of bread and rolls. Dessert is a must with coffee, and wine likes the company of a savory dish. In addition to breakfast, we have a lunch and dinner menu for you. Every day you can choose from different, freshly prepared dishes. The menu is short, but thanks to this we manage to ensure the freshness and quality of the products used.
And if you want to cook something yourself, we have an open kitchen at your disposal. You may ask: why have a kitchen if there is a restaurant? Someone who has never traveled with children may ask themselves this question, but we know that certain sausages are absolute favorites, certain jars are essential in a young person's diet, and finally, the best parties are always in the kitchen.
The very center of the Stołowe Mountains bows. The number of trails can be a headache, but also a pain in the legs. The choice is difficult, because which way you don't go, you end up on the trail. Straight from the guesthouse, just like that:
- 45 minutes to Szczeliniec Wielki,
- 1.5h for Errant Rocks,
- 1h to the Broumov Steny and 15 minutes to the Table Mountains Savannah.
You will also reach several other places from us: Pośna Waterfalls, Karłów, Corner, Kopa Śmierci, Koruna, Rock Mushrooms. Choice of color.
Once you tread the surrounding routes, you can go on a trip by car. To Kudowa it is just a 20-minute drive. In addition, our guests often go to Duszniki-Zdrój (there is a Museum of Papermaking and workshops for children, during which they can make their stationery), to the Kłodzko Fortress, to the Basilica in Wambierzyce, to the Gold Mine in Złoty Stok (where they will show the underground You brilliant guides), to the Radochowska Cave or to the Rock Town.
Mountains in winter, it is probably known that it is worth it. And if we add to the fact that the Chronicles of Narnia were filming around us, it's probably all clear. Winter in the area is simply fabulous. And you can experience it away from ski resorts, but on cross-country skiing (we have skis for you and a trailer for the youngest). Pack decent winter clothes, shoes, thermos flasks and let yourself be persuaded to go to the PTTK Hostel Na Szczelińcu, because the views are breathtaking (before you go - ask about the conditions, if necessary, we will rent you mini crampons). In addition, just behind the copper, literally 300 meters from us and on a flat, in front of the PTTK Pasterka Shelter, there is a hill, an unofficial center for sledding, apples and anything else (you can borrow a sledge from us). We suggest that after the madness in the snow, it is worth visiting the shelter for hot chocolate.
If you are unfamiliar with the idea of going up and down, you don't have to climb the peaks. We made sure that you could laze happily ever after.
In addition to relaxing in our enchanted garden, we recommend sessions in a Finnish sauna, a real one made of cedar wood. We also invite you for a glass of draft wine or an evening with a book or a board game. And we have to distribute places to sew. In Szczelinka you will find three (four if you count the shared kitchen) common rooms for various activities.
The space around the building is undeniably our favorite place. The garden is perfect not only for children or for hammocking, but it is also recommended for a barbecue or a bonfire. We only sensitize that we are serious about the subject of night silence, so quiet, romantic chats in the firelight - yes, loud singing, music from JBL, laughs until the morning - definitely not (or after arranging it with us, before making a reservation) .
What’s there for children?
Parents, calm down, here you can deflate your imagination balloon, because the children will find company, and if by some miracle there is no small gang on board, we have a large, safe running area, toys, a mud kitchen, a playground. We have small children ourselves and we travel with small children. We know that it's hard for you to call such trips a vacation. It is with families in mind that we have created a playground and we expand it from time to time. Our children love to splash in sand and water, slide down the slide and swing on a swing. Hence this set of attractions. But what they like most in the world is to play a mousse-mousse by a stream or build a beaver dam behind the Lower Wooden Bridge. We do not forbid them. Similarly, we do not forbid continuing the war with nettles that has been going on for generations, organizing funerals for beetles and building bases for snails.
The Table Mountains National Park is a great place for hiking with children, and the rocky labyrinths and crevices will surely be a fan's attraction. It is really close to us, everywhere in Stołowe.
What’s there for employees?
The common areas are 3 rooms where you can work in the company of other guests. However, if you want to book a one-week or longer stay, outside the holiday/holiday period, we can reserve one of the rooms exclusively for you. In the basement there are tables and armchairs, so you can change your workplace during the day. For full comfort, we have an iMac and 3 LAN connections at your disposal. Children often like to stay in the Fireplace Room, so it is not an ideal place to hold meetings with the management. A desk in the room is best for this type of conversation (in single and double rooms they are smaller, and in suites we have desks in each bedroom).
After an à-la-carte breakfast and warm, crispy bread, you can start an active day.
