The last train stopped at the station in Ostrowit in 1999. I spent the last days in Warsaw's Mokotów in the spring of 2021. Would I have thought two years earlier that I would become the owner of a historic station? Probably not. But life likes to write its scripts just as much as I like to take matters into my own hands. When my mother stopped walking and moved in with our family, we felt that the tenement house in Warsaw was cramped. And then came the pandemic, turned everything upside down and it turned out that today you can even work from a shack in the middle of nowhere. So I made my bravest decision - I sold an apartment in the capital, bought a historic railway station near Golub and moved our whole family life here. So that my children have space, my mother has a beautiful view from the window, and I have conditions for creative work and a place for guests. And maybe a corner where I will breed peacocks someday.

The platform lamps still stand behind the house, and the large windows of the waiting room let in plenty of light. We have here silence, peace and a slight sense of the absurd, because sometimes it seems to us that we live like in a fairy tale. From the huge terrace we look at fields and forests stretching for miles, my daughter goes to school in a palace from the 19th century, and there is enough space in the former station building that there is even enough space for a secret room. I invite you to visit our house-station. There is a huge garden, there are beautiful walking routes and at least a few places where you can lie down with a book for the whole afternoon. You will also taste delicious food, which is my passion. Get on any train and come - here you will find peace, quiet, a handful of inspiration and a story about a dream come true.

My name is Monika Kucia, I am a journalist and culinary curator. I organized culinary and artistic events in Warsaw, New York, Basel and Jelenia Góra. In 2021, after a lifetime in a big city, I moved with my family to a Prussian railway station from 1900 in the town of Ostrowite near Golub in Kujawy. I am here in stoppage, in wonder, in delight. I cook for my family and I cook for you. I love feeding. Welcome to our world.
