There is a house in Kotlina Kłodzka that remembers many dreams. Those fulfilled and those not.
What were those made by the first German owners, we do not know. Then Mrs. Halinka dreamed here. The former owner cultivated the field, kept her geese at home in winter so that they wouldn't get cold, and wanted to open her own agritourism here. She didn't make it. Then, for 5 long years, the building stood empty waiting for me. I dreamed of returning to my hometown of the Kłodzko Valley, of a house with history and a large garden, and this one turned out to be perfect. I was supposed to live here in beautiful interiors, tend the garden and grow vegetables (I even enrolled in an agricultural school!). And rest after all these years of stress and racing in Warsaw. When I was doing the renovation, everyone knocked on the head. It lasted continuously for several years, and I was always there. I've learned to sleep with the chorus of drills, the hum of concrete mixers, and the bustle of crews. Because I knew that one day the renovation would end and it would be here as it was supposed to be. There will be rooms in an enfilade, curtains in the doorways, and a sandstone floor.
And then it turned out that the real home turned out to be my husband. I met him quite unexpectedly and for him ... I returned to the capital. This is how the Colonel's House went for rent. And even though my husband has just retired and we take care of the guests together, the house is already for you - because I want you to enjoy it as much as I do. So that you can see the spring greenery of the orchard, which turns your head every spring. So that you, lying in the meadow behind the house, forget about everyday life, swing in a hammock and go cycling in the Bardzkie Mountains. You can pick raspberries and bake a tart or cook a vegetable one from vegetables from the garden. I believe that you will appreciate this old house, remembering several generations, in the renovation and furnishing of which I put my whole heart and half a decade. Come to the Colonel's House, created out of passion and dreams - against good advice and common sense. You will rest here in luxurious, refined interiors, where I tried to preserve as much history as possible. Make yourself at home! This place is alive when it's full of people.
There is a large common space on the ground floor. Kitchen, dining room, living room, hall, pantry and bathroom. The first floor has 3 double bedrooms, including a wonderful master suite with a large dressing room and a bathing room. In addition, on the first floor there is: a study/library (if necessary, converted into an additional fourth bedroom), a second bathroom, a laundry room with a washing machine and a clothes dryer, and a separate toilet.
On the second floor-attic you will find additional sleeping space with two double beds and a 2-seater sofa. There are also several single orthopedic mattresses.
In addition, in the attic there is a fitness zone: bar, gymnastic wall bar, bosu, TRX, barbell, kettlebell, balls, mats and training bands. Please bear in mind that the attic lacks the finishing touches. It is insulated with pur foam, which darkened over time and created an atmosphere reminiscent of a salt cave. Some of our guests say that it is unique, that they love Narnia and we should not touch it!;) This is unlikely to happen, but for now we will have to wait a while for the renovation. We are still wondering whether to divide the attic into rooms.
On request, the living room on the ground floor can be transformed into an additional bedroom for elderly or disabled people. Then the function of the living room is taken over by the spacious dining room. Important information: there are no thresholds on the ground floor - you can use a wheelchair/walker/crutches.
In several rooms there are still functional tiled stoves (rarely used).
All bathrooms are equipped with full L'occitane toiletries and hairdryers. We have toothbrushes for those who forget.
In addition, the following are available: basic medicines, dressing materials, a blood pressure monitor, and an inhalation device; detergents and dryer wipes; steam station and clothes ironing board; a sewing machine, a set of threads and accessories and small pieces of fabric to use; dog pool.
There is also audio equipment at your disposal (an amplifier and loudspeakers with beautiful sound) with the possibility of connecting a telephone. We even have a well-equipped DIY workshop (provided you put the tools back where they belong ;)).
We don't usually prepare meals at the Colonel's House. We don't disturb, we don't hang around. However, if you would like to order meals, no problem. We will cook, serve and clean up :)
We specialize in corporate trips, during which we take care of you as our closest friends so that you can complete the program and relax.
We also organize large parties (up to 50 people!) with delicious home-made food. You can eat Aunt Ola's broth with noodles, or dumplings that we make in front of you. We set the menu individually. It's warm, relaxed and fun!
Just like at an Italian wedding!
In the kitchen you will find everything you may need for cooking, including basic food products and handmade preserves. In summer you can feel free to use the vegetable garden and orchard. You can even prepare your own preserves and take them home. And in one of the kitchen drawers you will find a slow juicer, perfectly compatible with delicious German pears from our orchard.
In addition to the kitchen, there is also a large pantry with an additional fridge and freezer and a gas hob. It's nice and cool and there's plenty of room for food and drinks. We often organize large parties, so there will certainly be plenty of tableware and glasses.
You can drink water straight from the tap - we have our own spring in the forest. There are also herbs, don't buy them because there is no more room in the herbarium!
Sometimes it's good to do nothing. But if you don't want to, don't worry - you can't get bored in this area! Let's start with the immediate neighborhood: from the kitchen window you can see the new Kłodzka Góra viewpoint and it's wonderful to go for a walk there. Another great idea for a short walk is the Kukułka viewpoint. From there you can see a beautiful panorama of the Kłodzko Valley, and a new restaurant, Dom Krawca, has recently been opened. The walk from the house will take 15-20 minutes, you can stop for a coffee and a cake. A great route for a break from workation, which has become a dominant phenomenon in our country :)
Or maybe a bike ride? Very close to us (2 km) there is a single track bicycle track, the Łaszczowa Loop. Two-wheeler enthusiasts will definitely like it. There is a bicycle rental service in Kłodzko.
In winter, we recommend skiing in Zieleniec and Czarna Góra. We have a friendly instructor who can host our guests exclusively, just let us know that you are interested.
In the summer, the same friend is a mountain and tourist guide in the Sudetes, he can plan special expeditions for you and even organize fitness training (because he is also a personal trainer; he is an orchestra).
If you prefer to stay within the property, there is no way you won't organize your time. There is a bookcase with books that you can read in the garden, there are deckchairs, there is a hammock stretched in the summer under the pear trees and pulpwood trees.
We have plenty of sports equipment, a private gym, you can go fishing, horse riding, kayaking.
For explorers of local attractions, we also recommend:
- exciting rafting in Bardo
– charming Kłodzko, with its historic architecture and picturesque location,
– Srebrna Góra with an 18th-century mountain fortress,
– the palace in Sarny from 1661 – although in ruins (or maybe because of it) – is impressive,
– baroque-classicist palace in Bożków,
– the quiet Polanica Zdrój with its historic spa house and Chess Park,
– Sky Walk with our Czech neighbors.
What’s there for children?
Let's start by saying that we cordially invite children from the age of 8. This does not mean that younger guests cannot come to us at all, but in this case we will be grateful for a telephone consultation with their parents. A few words of conversation about your child's temperament should be enough. We have steep stairs at home, and also some antiques and equipment that is valuable to us - we wouldn't want to expose our children to having their teeth knocked out, and
at your expense in case of damage. This practice is therefore aimed at the comfort and peace of all of us.
In the garden, kids will find plenty of space to run around, they can pick apples directly from the trees, build a dam on the stream, stroke the cat, roll in the dog's stuffed animals and, in general, have an idyllic holiday that will be remembered for a long time. A few kilometers from us there is a stud farm, there are also kayaks, not to mention numerous bicycle routes in the area. But it is still known: no attraction compares to a swing in the kitchen!
However, the children's favorite place is undoubtedly the attic. There is a gym, 2 swings and walls made of darkened pur foam (renovation has not been completed yet), which make the attic look like a cave. The kids call this place Narnia and they don't want to leave.
What’s there for employees?
An exclusive house where your senses will be stimulated only by designer interiors, absolute silence and the warm smell of grass. In our beautiful garden you can not only relax in a hammock in the afternoons and have barbecues in the evenings. In the morning it will be perfect as an external office, because the Internet is very good here. Several companies have already tested this work option and were more than satisfied. In the large living room, you can easily make a presentation, and the retractable screen with a projector will be an irreplaceable help. There is also a separate dining room where, in addition to eating together, you can work even in a very large group. The table can accommodate up to 16 people. In each room there is a desk or table where you can hide away and relax from the rest :)
At your request, breakfast or full board, including homemade cakes, can be delivered right to your doorstep. We highly recommend this solution, because who would worry about cooking when there are so many things to do outside?
