Behind 150-year-old honey-bearing linden trees, at the end or at the beginning of the village of Brzezie (because there is a loop leading to us), our oasis is hiding from the world. Our house, orchard, old barn and the completely new one, waiting for guests, which we built in place of the shed gnawed by the teeth of time, are located on the hectare plot. The Holy Cross with a relay station towers over the area, which can be seen from the field hill, and a Psarka stream is lazily meandering nearby. Moments without a filter, contact with nature, a real village with pitch black nights, mooing cows and mud when it rains await you here. And a whole bunch of possibilities when it comes to active ways of spending time.
We have fun here. And we squeeze them to the last drop, like apple cider with varieties so old that even experienced fruit growers will not recognize them all. The view of our ancient orchard is from the downstairs bedroom, the living room and the terrace of the cottage, ideal for up to 4 people. We built it from raw larch, which for now is the color of a pumpkin and fits like a glove with autumn leaves. Over time, as a result of natural patination, it will turn black. We do not rush what best reflects the spirit of this place. Everything has its time, and here and now counts. Come and see for yourself.
Near the Psarka stream, among fields and meadows, in the shade of ancient lime trees (although the nearest neighbors are still about 200 meters away), we have our own oasis, which consists of: an orchard, our house, which we had to dismantle and reassemble to serve old age, and a modern barn, where I invite guests. Right next to it stands an old barn, which may one day turn into something completely different.
Our house made of raw larch has 35 m² and an idyllic view of the orchard with old varieties of apple trees and the surrounding hills. The interior is minimalist and dominated by wood. The cottage has two bedrooms. Regardless of which one you choose, the nights are black here, and you can sleep great without distractions. The larger bedroom is located on the mezzanine level via a ladder and the smaller one is downstairs. It offers a view. which replaces the TV (we don't have this in the house). The same extends from the living room with glazing, a comfortable, fold-out sofa and a cast-iron goat, which makes your stay more pleasant, especially in autumn and winter. Downstairs there is a well-thought-out, though small, kitchenette. And also a bathroom with a shower. Sometimes we have flies, so there are mosquito nets in the windows.
In front of the house there is a terrace with a table and chairs. There is a hammock waiting in the orchard, there are also deckchairs at your disposal. There is a wood-fired sauna in a separate building. You can use it while we are there.
Books on travel, health and minimalism, as well as the latest issue of our magazine for runners - ULTRA - are waiting for you in the house. There are also party games (Dixit and Fingers in the Washing Machine).
The area is fenced, your pets are welcome and safe with us (we have two strays - the dog Tola and the cat Pucha, who usually disappears for days). We also have hives that are located at the end of the orchard.
You cook for yourself with us. Exactly what you want. The space is small, but it has everything you need to prepare a meal. You can do it based on local products. We will suggest how to find them and reveal how you hunt for bread. You can then eat your meals in front of the fireplace or on the terrace. A picnic among apple trees is also recommended as an option. You can help yourself to vegetables and herbs from our garden, we will gladly offer you persistent cider from our apples. There is also a grill at your disposal, and right next to the cottage there is a place for a bonfire.
And if you don't feel like cooking, or you just want to go to a restaurant, we will recommend you several options, especially dumplings in Wilków and Chata Kaka in Kakonin, where you will try masks, pickles and lard. For dinner, we recommend warm obwarzanki with garlic from a bakery in nearby Bodzentyn (open from 19:00). You can also buy rolls, buns and real sourdough bread.
When we are there, we will be happy to prepare for you everything you need to prepare breakfast (you can count on fresh eggs, white cheese, milk and juice) or we will make you a shakshouka in which we specialize. This option is additionally payable and requires prior agreement with us.
You can come to us for a reset. Escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, hide in a country house and breathe deeply, surrounded by greenery, nature and apples. And we are not surprised at all, because it takes 2 hours to get to us from Warsaw, even on Fridays. You can sleep, swing in a hammock, lie under an apple tree, have a meditation session in an alley between old trees. Go for a walk, and we know from experience that wandering through fields and fields is never boring. In the evening you can sit on the terrace with a glass of cider and watch the stars. This is the first option.
Option number two assumes activity. The possibilities are many and depend on your preferences and the season. You can go to the mountains. To Łysa Góra, on which there is a cross and which can be seen from the hill in front of our house. Conquer Szczytniak, the highest peak of the Jeleniowski Range or Bukowa Góra in the Klonowski Range. And of course Lysica.
The Świętokrzyskie Mountains are a real cycling paradise. You can ride a road bike on narrow and less frequented asphalt roads, gravel on routes connecting asphalt with field paths, and MTB on singletracks in the Jeleniowski range. And we recommend the last option to your attention, because Jeleniów paths are fresh. The routes "Strmyk", "Świst" and "Trzygłowy" are singletrack enduro in the Jeleniewski Landscape Park. The Jeleniowskie range is also ideal for running.
And finally water! The closest we have to Zalew Wióry, where swimming, SUP and sailing. In the nearby reservoirs, you can also practice open-water swimming, not only Wióry, but also Cedzyna near Kielce and Wilków are ideal for this.
We are sports lovers and this love gave rise to the Wióry Swimrun Competition, organized by us for 5 years, which is a combination of openwater and running on the Wióry reservoir. The route is covered alternately by swimming and running. After party is in our garden :)
For skiing in the season you will go to Bałtów, Krajna or Kielce.
Other commands:
– ruins of the castle in Bodzentyn,
– Osiołkowo in Baszowice,
– Medieval settlement in Huta Szklana,
– Pytlówka educational farm in Tarczek,
– visiting the vineyard and wine tasting in Vineyard by the source.
What’s there for children?
All the charms of the village at your fingertips. Wandering around the garden, which is simply made for hide and seek, berek between apple trees and watching nature. And of course the mountains! The low and easily accessible peaks make the Świętokrzyskie Mountains perfect for the first hiking trips.
For older kids, the mezzanine bedroom, which resembles a tree house, is an attraction!
There is also a slackline stretched among the trees, a badminton set and an adventure in the form of a night in a tent set up in the garden. And for the little ones, we have a sandbox.
Don't forget about donkeys in Baszowice!
