When Tereza went to visit her parents, she always dreamed on the way looking at a beautiful old Czech cottage with a barn. But she never went closer to her. When an advertisement hit her in the eye that the cottage was for sale, it was clear to her that fate had struck. On her first visit, she fell in love with the warm, forest scent that surrounds the cottage. And she knew immediately what and how: "The barn will be a kitchen, the furniture will only be antique, the windows will be replaced, the heating will be installed ..."
After two years of hard work, Samota Hamličky is ready for guests. Although everything is "new" here, it was important for Tereza that the cottage retained its distinctive character. The floor is made of classic brick attics, the new, wooden windows are a successful copy of the previous windows and the furniture comes from old homesteads and castles.
The cottage is thought through to every detail. Original, quiet, calm, cozy, spacious ... such is Samota Hamlička.
I originally reconstructed this cottage for myself. But since I live permanently in Germany, I was sorry to leave her unused for most of the year. This is where he rests so wonderfully ...
The solitude of Hamlička is located near the forest. There is no neighbor, road or herd of frightened bulls around that could disrupt your peaceful holiday. If you come with children, you will enjoy a week without shouting - because we can run, stomp and scream.
COMMON ROOM WITH OVEN
The common rooms are dominated by a majestic dining table with a bench and chairs. For those who prefer to roll rather than sit, there is a spacious sofa bed by the window. But there's another place that can be fought: a warm, comfortable place behind the oven. The tiled stove is original and when you melt it in the winter, you fill the house with a completely different kind of heat than you are used to. In addition, it smells of wood, which we chopped for you and laid out for the stove.
But you can also flood without any work. The walls in the house have built-in electric heating, which heats all rooms evenly.
There is a large TV above the dining table so that you can spend bad weather together, for example with a fairy tale or a favorite movie.
UNTRADITIONAL BEDROOMS
In the bedroom you will find a double bed, which I dare say you have not seen before. Another smaller person will sleep there with you without kicking you up at night and otherwise waking up lovingly. The bed has a kind of extension to the side, so you can conveniently place your little one "on the stork".
"Boudo boko, who lives in you?" An imaginative 140 cm wide bunk bed is hidden behind wooden walls. The bedroom can comfortably sleep up to 6 adults and 1 child. If more of you come, 2 will take refuge on the sofa bed in the common room.
ACCOMMODATION WITH A GARDEN
Large fenced land is loved by children for running and frolicking. Adults prefer to look for "their" place in the shade under a tree, where they read or nap in peace. From the garden is a fantastic trip around. But he cannot be described in words. Just a view with a large V.
BATHROOM
The bathroom does not lag behind the other rooms either. Bare brick walls and floors with classic attics will take you back to the past of our house, but the hot shower, corner bath and two stylish washbasins will remind you with their comfort that the past has long been there. The bathroom also has a toilet and bidet.
At first glance, the kitchen looks ancient. But brick walls, stone paneling and wooden doors, reminiscent of the art of skilled judges, must not confuse you. The kitchen is modern and you will also find a dishwasher and a microwave, so you can take care of other leisure activities than cooking and washing dishes.
For a beautiful breakfast, there is a capsule coffee machine, kettle and toaster. We recommend having breakfast on the terrace with seating. There is no better way to start the day than with coffee and a view of our breathtaking Czech landscape.
In the garden there is also a fireplace for evening barbecue and a large, handy grill. You can buy a barbecue in Kdyny, for example, which is not far. For a good restaurant, it's much further. After all, you go alone to the forest. But I cordially invite you to my restaurant just outside the German border.
The Bohemian Forest is an unjustly neglected natural area along the German-Czech border. The nature is very similar to the Šumava, but in comparison with the Šumava there is more peace and fewer tourists.
CZECH FOREST IN SUMMER
If you want to have the whole Bohemian Forest in the palm of your hand, you can look at it from one of the surrounding lookout towers. You can easily reach the Koráb lookout tower on foot or by bike. It has been standing here since 1938. In the 1990s, however, the original wooden building was replaced by a steel structure, which also serves as a television transmitter. And when the weather is good, you can see not only the Šumava, but also the Alps!
If the Koráb lookout tower seems old to you, what would you say to the lime tree in Kdyny, planted in 1918? It is called Lípa svobody and stands next to the monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars. And when you get the urge to dig deeper into history, you should not miss the House in a Fur Coat from 1780. It is part of the Border Museum and you can empathize with the role of the former inhabitants of the house. The black kitchen, which is still in perfect condition, is worth exploring.
And be sure to visit Domažlice. The picturesque town is the heart of Chodsko. In August, you will enjoy the Chod Festival and the Vavřinec Fair. But for the rest of the year you can enjoy a visit to Chod Castle (which now houses a museum), a Neo-Renaissance town hall and several churches. The National Monument in Domažlice is the largest Hussite granite chalice in Europe and is connected with an educational trail and an original open-air sculpture gallery (Baldov Hill).
CZECH FOREST IN WINTER
Hamličky definitely does not stand right on the slopes. Nevertheless, you enjoy skiing and skiing in the area.
Larger ski resorts in the Bohemian Forest are located on the border with Germany, or for the most part abroad. This applies, for example, to cross-country ski trails around Čerchov, as well as to the Silberhütte / Zlatý potok resort. Furthermore, the tracks are being modified in Přimda. In recent years, cross-country trails have also been modified in the northern part of the Bohemian Forest around Dylen.
A smaller ski area is located in Nýrsko. The large ski area with artificial snow and a chair lift is called Hohenbogen and can be found abroad. Both areas are about 20 km away from the cottage, only each in a different direction.
What’s there for children?
You don't have to entertain children with us. If you take a gang of them, they will have fun in the garden themselves. Running and hiding without volume restrictions is a child's dream. Living alone has its advantages!
The Bohemian Forest is not as hilly as Šumava, so cycling trips with children are a bit more pleasant. There are plenty of ruins in the area, so head out to discover them all.
