Vincenc Zahradník was a Czech Catholic priest, philosopher and writer. He studied theology in Litoměřice, where he worked as a professor of pastoral theology and librarian from 1820. He was an admirer of Bernard Bolzan, who was punished for his reformist views. And so do his followers. That is why Vincenc Zahradník was sent to Zubrnice after his release from prison.

"I became a pastor as punishment. (...) The best thing about my situation is that cut off from all the conversation with people, I can read a lot, think and write. I have gained a lot in my loneliness for my growth. I hope that with God's help I will remain healthy and make my understanding even more complete, correct, sensitive and stronger, ”we read in one of his letters of 1824.

But the parish that Vincenc Zahradník built in Zubrnice is a magical place. It gained its forgotten beauty after 2013, when Ilona Rožková bought the rectory. She let through the walled windows and let light and life into the house again. He is intensely interested in the life and work of the former pastor and passes on his legacy. For example, through lectures and an exhibition in the barn at the parish, which she transformed into a nice café.

But there is much more to Zubrnice. Come and enjoy the folk architecture, cultural monuments and beautiful nature of the Bohemian Central Mountains.

In a beautiful 200-year-old house in the Bohemian Central Mountains, we have equipped a cozy apartment for 2 with its own entrance. The house is newly renovated, but do not worry - the historic character of the building has been preserved.

In Apartment Květnice we respect and support the ancient atmosphere, and therefore the furniture and equipment will remind you of a visit to your grandmother or your sweet childhood. Retro design went aside only if it collided with your possible comfort. So you will sleep on comfortable coconut mattresses and not on a straw mat. And it is also possible to connect to wi-fi. Although, who would do it when there are so many things to see outside!

The apartment has a private bathroom with shower and toilet.

You can also use the garden with the apartment. In addition to children's climbing frames, you will find a pleasant sitting area and plenty of space to meditate. We definitely recommend taking one of the books from our workshop on Vincenc Zahradník, which you will find in the library next to the bed, and taking a good bite into the local history.

The apartment has a simply equipped kitchenette and a stylish dining table. A slightly more modest sitting in the form of metal furniture, reminiscent of a French bistro, awaits in the garden.

In order for you to have something to cook, we will be happy to fill your refrigerator in advance - just let us know in time. Our specialty is pickled cucumbers, so there will definitely be no shortage of them at our parish. On the way from the trip you can meet two farms where you can buy quality meat, milk and dairy products.

Within walking distance is a cute village pub Hostinec u Pernekrů. Do not expect any trip to the gastronomic distances, but look forward to honest Czech cuisine. In the large hall, there are balls, lectures and various events for children, which are worth a visit.

Although the Kvítnice apartment is like a box, we repair the rest of the rectory gradually and on our own. If you are in the mood to put your hand to the work, we will be happy. After all, you know how it is with "doing what drives all sorrow."

But history lovers come to the Bohemian Central Mountains, and to Zubrnice in particular. You can admire an open-air museum or a railway museum directly in our village. Looking at the track, you may recall footage from the Lords or Rebels movie. On the square is a statue of Jan Nepomucký, whose gilded halo was stolen the day after installation, a half-timbered chapel from Žichlice rebuilt near the cemetery and a beautiful well from Střižovice. The company makes them several preserved classicist brick houses.

We recommend a beautiful bike ride along the Elbe. Along the way you will see the Velké Březno chateau, the Museum of the Czechoslovak fortifications or the Robber's Cave. If you go to the other side, you will enjoy Děčín with its castle, historic stone bridge, Zoo and Shepherd's Wall.

Be sure to walk to the Načina waterfall, to Humboldt's viewpoint on Buková hora, which is named after the German naturalist and traveler Alexander von Humboldt, and to soak up the atmosphere and the smell of the forest in the Czech Central Highlands Protected Landscape Area.
