Mount Teide in the center of Tenerife is not only the highest point in Spain and the highest point above sea level in all the islands of the Atlantic, but also the third-highest volcano in the world. The volcano and its surroundings comprise Teide National Park, which was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. Teide is the most visited natural wonder of Spain as well as the most visited national park in Spain and Europe.
It was a sacred mountain for the Guanches, the indigenous inhabitants of the Canary Islands. According to legend, Guayota (the devil) kidnapped Magec (the god of light and the sun) and imprisoned him inside the volcano, plunging the world into darkness. The Guanches asked their supreme god Achamán for clemency, so Achamán fought Guayota, freed Magec from the mountain, and plugged the crater with Guayota. It is said that since then, Guayota has remained locked inside Teide. When it was going to erupt, the Guanches lighted bonfires to scare Guayota. In 1492, when Christopher Columbus arrived at the island of Tenerife, his crew claimed to see flames coming from the highest mountain of the island...
Today it is a safe place for you to visit :-)
Our Hotel is a really slow place where you can relax in a calm area and enjoy the view on the clear night sky of Tenerife. Because we are located in the south of the island at an altitude of 810 meters above sea level on the border of the Corona Forestale nature park that surrounds the UNESCO-protected Teide National Park.
The Hotel stands on a 17.000 sqm plot full of vegetation, obtained from an ancient barn built in 1720 according to the typical Canarian architecture: wooden roofs with exposed beams, wooden floors, large wooden balcony, all handcrafted using the heart of the Canarian pine; a hard, resistant and fireproof wood.
The space for relaxation has been completely renovated, alongside the main structure, which has been equipped with garden sofas, solid wood benches, pretty wrought iron tables, wooden pergola and barbecue.
The hotel has 6 large rooms that retain the original architecture, each equipped with a private bathroom. Two of the rooms have in addition to the king-size bed also a sofa bed to accommodate a maximum of two other guests; also there are 2 baby cots available.
Three rooms are located on the ground floor and have a private terrace overlooking the garden and the sea.
The others are located on the upper floor and benefit from a large shared balcony from which you can enjoy a 180° degree view of the south coast of Tenerife. Each room is equipped with a safe.
Besides the rooms we offer a unique experience in a modern form of glamping: our two bubble-rooms. The bubble-room is a capsule with a completely transparent roof that allows a panoramic view of the sky while being immersed in nature. Due to the low light contamination on Tenerife and thanks to the ideal position, you can get closer to the mystery of the cosmos and dialogue with the universe. Bubble Adromeda and Bubble Leo are both equipped with air conditioning, heating, a king-size bed, a telescope and a mini-fridge and come included with a bottle of Prosecco and the breakfast. And for the total pleasure, Andromeda offers an external jacuzzi, too.
The hotel, surrounded by greenery and silence broken only by the chirping of birds, enjoys a fabulous sea view and spectacular sunsets. Numerous native Canarian plants embellish the garden surrounding the property in addition to the more than 300 flowering plants that have recently been added; their intense perfume spreads all around.
The hotel has ample free self-parking, a restaurant and a left-luggage office.
There is the availability of a mini-bar and TV.
We are pet friendly!
Our hotel offers a free continental buffet breakfast: eggs, juice, ham, bread & croissants, butter, marmelade, pie, fruits, coffee and tea.
Upon request, the guests can taste typical Canarian dishes and international recipes in the small and welcoming hotel restaurant. There we have new food every day!
For the special moments, you can also have a nice dinner under the gazebo next to the pool.
The swimming pool is about 40 sqm big and surrounded by an area with about 350 sqm, recently renovated and equipped with two large gazebos, sun beds and hammocks, tables, chairs, fridge service and a large space for a barbeque wood burning. Various sports activities can be carried out in the area including table tennis, darts, basketball hoop and mini tennis.
Our hotel is located 30 minutes by car from the mountain Teide which with its 3,718 meters above sea level (and about 7,000 meters above the ocean platform) is the third largest volcano in the world as well as the highest mountain in all of Spain, also considered as one of the 12 national treasures. The "Teleférico del Teide" aerial tramway goes up to the peak, starting at the base station at 2,356 meters above sea level and ascending to the top station at 3,555 meters in eight minutes, at a maximum speed of 8 meters/second and carrying 44 people per cabin.
Below the Teide you will also find the rock formation called "Roques de García". The most famous of the bizarrely shaped towers of volcanic rock is the "Roque Cinchado", which is also called "Stone Tree" or "Finger of God" and is considered the landmark of the island.
Sea lovers can easily reach the most beautiful beaches of the island which are no more than 20 minutes away from the hotel, for example Playa del Duque (15,5 km), Playa de la Pinta (13 km) or Playas de Troya (13 km).
Right next to the southern highway in San Miguel de Tajao you will find another special natural monument: the "Arco de Tajao", a natural structure generated over volcanic materials emitted during eruptions several hundred thousands of years ago. Worth a visit, if you are a fan of nature!
Near the town of Adeje is the "Barranco del Infierno" (Gorge of Hell) with its varied flora and fauna and its terraced gardens on the steep slopes. The unique landscape of the gorge is specially protected and is part of the nature reserve named after it. A hiking trail begins in Adeje, above Casa Fuerte. A small entrance fee must be paid and the maximum number of concurrent visitors and visitors per day are limited, so advance reservations may be advisable. The trail is 6.3 kilometers round trip and the maximum elevation gain is 200 meters, making the difficulty of the hike rather low.
What’s there for children?
Also your children can enjoy the amenities of our hotel: they will love to splash into the pool, or - if they are younger - take baby steps into it with your help. The sports possibilities are also an attractive program for everyone.
Talking about sports for children: if they are at least 6 years old they can drive a Go-kart at the Karting Club Tenerife! There are different types of vehicles and circuits, so everybody can find a nice option. And even if the kids are younger than 6 years, but at least 3 years old, they can join one parent in the Biplaza double-seated kart for shared fun. Food and beverages are also available at the club.
If the ocean shouldn't have enough water for your kids: check out Aqualand Costa Adeje, an outdoor water park with large slides and tube slides, several children's pools and a dolphinarium.
Another highlight for the small visitors is the Chinese Lantern World ~ Light Show Tenerife, a world of more than 40 themed light installations with Chinese motives, dancers, artist and even dragons. A program for the whole family.
Siam Park is a water park in Costa Adeje that features a Siamese (Thai) theme and promotes itself as the "biggest water attraction of Europe". The park's 25 buildings are the largest collection of Thai-themed buildings outside Thailand. 15 different rides are awaiting your kids, while the park holds four world records: The biggest dragon statue (The Dragon), the fastest water lift (Mai Thai River), the largest man-made wave and the largest Thai building outside Asia.
And a last, but special tipp for the young ones: At the Castillo de San Miguel Tenerife castle construction, visitors can take part in an authentic medieval journey through time with an authentic feast, jousting and games. After the jousting and feast, guests are led by the counts of the castle to the spacious Salón de Baile (dance hall), where acrobatics, ballet and capoeira are a regular feature.
