Apparently, you don't need words where actions prove for themselves. However, this story should be written in some words. It all started with Mr. Witold, a true enthusiast of history kept in old places and objects. In 2013, a blind fate or - who knows - destiny, led him to a manor in the Lublin region, forgotten by God and people. His eyes saw a disastrous image: a collapsed roof, damaged walls and a manor garden, preserved in the memories of the pre-war owners as an impressive specimen of numerous old trees, and now full of remnants of allotment gardens. It took a few good years to renovate both the building itself and the surrounding area. But today Bernatówka can finally invite dear guests to her estate. You will be charmed by restored furniture, huge space inside (perfect for talking, reading, playing hide and seek) or your own huge park with a pond. Or maybe all at once? Come to Bernatówka for a story written anew by the dreamer's hand, wildflowers from the surrounding meadows and the tranquility of the countryside combined with the attractions of Lublin, just a few kilometers away.

Here Slowhop will describe your place

Host:
Dwór Bernatówka
The manor house belonged to the Bernatt family for several centuries. In 1944, it was taken to serve a field airfield, becoming a home for officers. Officially, the Bernatts ceased to be the owners of the manor house with the end of World War II, when it passed into state hands. This is where the history known to too many monuments begins: mismanagement, unsuccessful renovations. All this contributed to the destruction of the once beautiful building and garden. Fortunately, Bernatówka was bought by Mr. Witold in 2013, renewing it with his own efforts and funds. Today, Karolina, I look after the manor in his absence.

From 1796, the manor house itself (originally wooden, and only brick from the beginning of the 20th century) and the surrounding area belonged to the Bernatt family. Hence the name: Bernatówka. But like many similar stories, this one ended sadly with the Second World War, during which all the family property was taken away. In May 2013, Bernatówka had a new owner who was in love with her - Witold Matacz. Since then, the manor house has undergone a general renovation, which included, among others reconstruction of the roof, reconstruction of the collapsed corner, taking care of the garden and removing the old gazebos remaining on it. For his work, Mr. Witold received the Conservation Laurel in 2018. Guests can stay in the entire mansion (exclusive use), and enjoy their own manor garden with a pond and old trees. There are two kitchens, four bathrooms, a living room, a library, bedrooms, and even ... a small, restored chapel. Very tall people in the two bathrooms upstairs (of the four available) will have to be careful with their heads due to the low ceilings.

There are two kitchens in Bernatówka - one on the ground floor and the other in the basement. The former has even more equipment than you probably need on vacation. There is, among others induction cooker, up to 2 ovens (one for dinner, the other for dessert?), a toaster, a coffee machine and a juice squeezer. The second one has been renovated in a country style, thanks to which it intrigues with its interior design, but also with the presence of, for example, a wood stove. As guests of Bernatówka, you can use our vegetable garden, eat fruit straight from currant bushes or reach for fruit trees. In addition, there are fish in the pond - take your fishing rods and try your luck! The Anna Manor (1.5 km) invites you to try old Polish cuisine. Of course, a multitude of restaurants can also be found in Lublin itself.

In Bernatówka, lovers of the countryside and peace, as well as more bourgeois souls will find themselves. Meadows and mid-field groves stretch around, and the Ciemięga river flows slowly. But just a few kilometers away, Lublin begins with a whole range of city attractions. Where will you spend your time? It depends on you. Aristocratic on-site entertainment: - The manor park, entirely intended for guests. There is a bit of restored old trees, several hundred planted young trees and a pond in the place of a natural ravine that was once buried to make space for allotments (already closed in the park). - The mansion itself, restored in the neo-renaissance style. The interior charms with restored furniture, the bookcase tempts with collected collections, and the dining room encourages long discussions of all kinds. - Dys springs (450 m), where local residents come to rest and get clean water. Apparently, its composition is almost identical to the excavated Nałęczowianka less than 30 km away! - The Piker Stable (5 km) is a great place to try your hand at or improve your horse riding skills. From time to time, there are also competitions that you can also come to as a spectator. - The ravine in Pliszczyna and the observation tower with an ecological path in Łysaków (11.2 km) provide a walk to praise peace and quiet. Although the tower itself is not high, it allows you to see the surrounding villages from above. The aforementioned path begins right next to it, leading through colorful fields, delighting in summer with poppies and cornflowers growing here and there. Attractions of the social season in the city: - The Jagiellonian Fair (also known as Re: Tradition) takes place in Lublin in August. It surprises with the multitude of exhibitions, performances and concerts. The program changes every year. - Carnaval Sztukmistrzów, also taking place in summer, is a meeting of street artists and masters of circus art, who during these few days a year, in various parts of Lublin, present their theatrical, gymnastic or magic skills. - The Lublin Castle is a year-round offer for music lovers and art lovers. Concerts and exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, take place here. - The Lublin Village Museum is one of the largest open-air museums in Poland. However, in addition to getting to know rural architecture, the open-air museum also invites you to various events, such as traditional haymaking, staging of horse fairs, a honey and herb festival, court harvest festivals and dances. - The Old Town in Lublin will provide sightseeing for a good few hours. It is worth walking around the winding streets to find the Stone of Misfortune, the Krakow Gate, the Lublin Cathedral (this is the pearl of the Baroque!), The scenic Trynitarska Tower or the Dominikańska Street, over which various performances regularly hang at the nearby Stary Theater.

What’s there for children?

Children are encouraged to play in the park or in the yard itself. The number of hiding places here is practically infinite, and the space itself is fenced. Lublin itself has a lot of attractions to offer, such as the Wild Children Reserve (inspired by the so-called adventure playgrounds), multimedia fountains, the Lublin underground route and the H. Ch. Andersen. However, parents are sensitized to mindfulness, especially in the case of younger children, because of the pond in the garden.

Truly a magnificent place to stay. Fantastic atmosphere, beautiful interior and great surroundings. Our hosts were extremely friendly, would happily recommend it to everybody.

Opiekuni dworku sympatyczni, gościnni, pomocni (kiedy zgłosiliśmy brak ciepłej wody, przyjechali mimo późnej pory i okresu świątecznego i pomogli uruchomić piec grzewczy).
