A village is hidden among the trees of the Piska Forest. He does it so skillfully that few know about her. Look for tourists here with a candle, and even if you find some, they will probably be just as surprised by your presence. For me, Lipowo is a special place. Located between Mrągowo and Mikołajki, but hidden from the world. A bit like Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, it has a magical realism to it. Ordinaryness is perceived here as a supernatural phenomenon, you live without time, you never have one heaven, there are always several of them. The village is spread out on a circular plan, built up once in a while. This calm, green, hilly and microclimate has ground me here for 15 years. Maybe it will keep you for longer.
2,300 steps from Lake Majcz Wielki, I built two houses, supposedly new, but as if they had always been here. With furniture that have already been killed by hundreds, live fire in a goat, a pink or yellow sofa and terraces to do anything. I invite you to Lipów, off the beaten track.
In new homes with an old soul. There are two on the plot - pink and yellow. Brand new houses decorated with 100-year-old Masurian furniture and filled with art, so important to me.
YELLOW can fit up to 6 people, but I think that the greatest comfort is with 4 people, but of course it depends on your needs. Has:
- two bedrooms upstairs (with a double bed and two single beds)
- a living room with a fireplace connected to the kitchen,
- a bathroom with a shower,
- a large terrace from the backyard (you won't even notice the inhabitants of the pink house).
PINK is a house for 4 people, but in the summer season it has an additional bedroom - in the building next door and then you can come to it with a team of 6 people. The summer bedroom is open from mid-May to September as the building is not heated. There is also no bathroom in it, but it is an ideal alternative for your teenage children, because they have their own room in a separate building and parents do not bother them.
In the pink house there is:
- a very large bedroom with a double bed 160 cm wide, with a place to work and read,
- a living room with a fold-out, comfortable double sofa bed 120 cm wide and a fireplace connected to the kitchen,
- a bathroom with a shower,
- own very large terrace away from the terrace of the yellow house and generally a lot of space.
I would like to warn families with animals that the fence is not tight. The fence has gaps, and half of the fence is a high escarpment and a hornbeam hedge. So you have to keep an eye on your pet. However, rabbits, cats and dogs have already visited me and they were happy.
The houses have well-equipped kitchens, and you can order local products in the countryside or from me. When I am there, I will be happy to bake for you rye bread, sourdough, from bio flour from the Bio Babalscy mill. When I am not there, my neighbor is baking bread. You can also buy preserves from me. And from neighbor Jan, eggs, vegetables, country duck or chicken and fantastic dumplings stuffed with all kinds. In the summer, blueberries, strawberries and chanterelles reign.
In Lipowo, time passes slowly and this is how it is spent. Of course, you can go to Mikołajki every day, because it is only 13 km, and if someone wants to walk along, nothing stands in the way. But I highly recommend leaving the car alone and going on a trip on foot, by bike or swimming. A car may be useful for a trip to one of the delicious local restaurants.
Importantly, probably especially for families with children and people who have problems with long walks. There are 2,300 steps to Lake Majcz Wielki, which is not too close (approx. 20 minutes' walk). This is where there is a gentle descent and a place where you can cool off in the depths.
A beautiful beach on Lake Majcz Wielki is 3 km away, in the Strzałowo Reserve. It's a few minutes away by car, fifteen minutes by bike.
. Lipowo is far from city light sources, so we have a real space night zone here. You can admire the Perseids, the Milky Way, the August orange moon and recognize the constellations. We really have a lot of sky here.
In summer (July, August, September), several Masurian agritourism farms host a pleasant neighborhood meeting called "On Saturday in Sada", a local fair of good food. But not only! You can also buy handicrafts from local artists there, which are the best souvenirs from Masuria. Be sure to check if you can catch one of the fair dates.
Kayaking is a must in Masuria. It so happens that the Krutynia flows very close to Lipowo. Just drive about 13 km to Ukta and go rafting down the most beautiful Masurian river. Just not on a weekend in July and August, because then you can bounce off the kayaks of other paddlers.
If you like antiques, I recommend a charming place, Brocante - Antiques in Masuria, where I could live myself (if it weren't for the friendly owners - Marij and Andrzej Wezdeccy). Entering Wezdecky is like entering a cave full of treasures. The entrance is blocked only by a yellow table, and behind it there are a lot of antiques to dig through. Most of the furniture in the Houses in Lipów comes from these enthusiasts.
