There is still much to discover in Poland, for example ridges that few have heard of. The Słonne Mountains, because they were the ones that made us swap concrete houses for leisurely walks, took their name from the salt springs that flow from their interior, from which the local population has been extracting salt since the Middle Ages. Now we buy salt in the shop around the corner, but the forest streams, wild ravines and deep gorges still attract bears, lynxes and wolves more often than tourists. That suits us.
Although the boundaries of the Słonne Mountains have never been precisely marked, you can safely head between the green valleys of the San and Stryj, somewhere halfway from Sanok to Lesko. In the village of Stańkowa, just above the “horyłkowy” stream, we have an old house with dogs, cats and two Hucul horses. Now that we have mastered country life, it is with great pleasure that we invite you. We share half of the house, so we live in one part and you in the other. We don't get in each other's way, because we have separate entrances, but sometimes Promek the Hutsul will look in your window, our wildcat - Tosia will accompany you on a walk, and Andzia will drop in for a cuddle. In our house, cats prowl the house, sleep in pots on the porch, and the couch dogs sometimes go for a walk in the thickets, sometimes under a blanket. On Horyłka, the saying "like a dog with a cat" means taking a nap together on one couch.
We welcome you to a hospitable old cottage in the heart of the Słonne Mountains Landscape Park, in the village of Stańkowa. Here, in the valley between two forested hills, we have our peaceful farm. It is quiet and green all around, we have no neighbours behind the fence, and in the garden and on the pasture you can meet our 3 cats, 3 dogs and two Hucul horses. They rule Nad Horyłka, and we try to meet their and your expectations.
We invite you to the hosts' house, i.e. under our roof. We give you the entire independent half of the house with a separate entrance. The rented space includes a kitchen connected to the living room, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house is old and atmospheric, creaking floors carry sounds. So you can hear footsteps, laughter and the voices of guests. So come to us with a good group of friends or family, so that you are not disturbed by the whispers of the old cottage.
Out-of-this-world amenities are not available here - here we have a simple and comfortable wooden country house, satisfying the longing for peace and quiet, horses looking in the windows, a clay oven in the kitchen, bedding smelling of laundry, but not at all hotel-like, and ceramics found at antique fairs.
A couple will be comfortable here, although you will be able to sleep in a different bed every night. 4 people will have a great time here, but a team of 8 people will easily fit here.
In our house, four double guest rooms await you, two on the ground floor and two in the attic. Downstairs there is a living room with a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious veranda. Bathrooms with a shower and toilet are located on both floors.
Room 1 on the ground floor has a large double bed and a single bed for younger travelers. Ideal for a family with a child.
Room 2 downstairs has two single beds. We recommend it for good friends, acquaintances, or siblings. It is possible to put the beds together and host a couple.
Room 3 is a cozy attic bedroom for two.
Room 4 is also located in the attic. It has two single beds and a view of the mountains.
The living room is connected to the kitchen. From here you can go out to the spacious veranda and garden.
Animals of all breeds, colors and sizes are most welcome here. Your part of the house is fenced, so you can relax peacefully without having to keep an eye on your four-legged friends.
When asked about the access to mobile networks, we answer: "it's not great, but you can always catch something in the field, although the waves are capricious".
Eat whatever you want, because the fully equipped kitchen is at your disposal. Such a modern one with good appliances, a fridge and a large table for all household members. An old clay kitchen stands as an ornament in the kitchen, which unfortunately no longer fulfills its role, but reflects the atmosphere of a country cottage.
We will gladly advise you who to hit for brilliant-quality products and home-made dinners that are most likely to be eaten with more food. Our neighbor, Mrs. Anita, is a culinary sorceress. She bakes bread herself, makes various preserves, delicious sweets, and homemade cheeses. Dinners are delicious, always to your heart's content. We will provide you with the contact to Ms. Anita before your arrival.
For delicious and natural honey and observation of life in the apiary, go to our closest neighbors. Mr. Staszek's bees offer the highest quality multiflorous and honeydew honey.
Connoisseurs of local wine are encouraged to visit the neighboring vineyard of Mrs. Sabina and Mr. Marek.
Walkers are welcome on board. Here, walks are like meditation. You can walk along the stream collecting shales, you can jump from stone to stone to the other side, you can walk along a trail, through the forest, a clearing, a mountain pasture. The closest you can do is leave the house and go into the forest, it's magical. Our domestic wildcat, Tosia, is recommended as a guide.
In summer, we will take you to a friendly vineyard, horseback riding behind the mountain, to Mr. Staszek for honey, to relax in a hammock by the stream and to the trails. In winter, we encourage you to go skiing on the newly opened ski lift 15 minutes away from us.
The closest to us are the trails right under our noses, those of the Słonne Mountains. The name of the range comes from the brine springs that occur here, from which salt was extracted for centuries. Today, no one does this anymore, but you can walk along the trails that cross the area, along unmarked paths that stretch for kilometers, drink water from springs and give bear tracks a wide berth. Apart from forest inhabitants such as wolves, lynxes or eagles, it is hard to come across other hikers, which is becoming less and less common in Biesy.
In winter, it is worth skiing, because the snow usually does not disappoint. Most often, we have it in abundance.
The nearest ski lifts:
- Wańkowa,
- Laworta,
- Gromadzyń.
We like to spend time by the water all year round, although of course most of all in the summer.
On a hot day, it is worth relaxing by the "horyłkowy" stream, where the water is equally cold at any time of the year. We have prepared a hammock, swings, places to relax, a shelter and a place for a bonfire for you there. Behind the house you will find a swimming pool with a dolphin and other toys for the youngest.
A little further on, we recommend trips to the Wiar River, Lake Myczkowieckie or a trip to the bar and rental "U Bolka" in Teleśnica nad Soliną. These are proven, peaceful places where you can sunbathe, swim, rent water equipment or fish. From the bank or the middle of the river in waders. Kayakers and rafters can go on a rafting trip along the "Błękitny San" waterway.
Our horses Wirus and Promyk are great companions for resting on the grass. You can pet them, feed them, cuddle them, but you can't mount them. They are free spirits who feel best in the pasture behind the house.
For those who feel at home in the saddle and those who are just starting out, we have a delicacy. Just behind the mountain, you will find the friendly TABUŃCZYK Equestrian Group. They organize trappers' horse rallies and horse riding in the area.
For local wines, tastings and quite innocent shopping head to the nearby Winnica Stańkowa. You can try whites - Cymmes and Sammar and red - Bajust. Every Saturday and Sunday you can go to the processing plant from 3-8 pm.
What’s there for children?
Our kids spread their wings. When they feel like rummaging in the tall grass with Zuzia, Filip and Kajtek, because our dogs are great companions, they stroke cats basking in the sun, feed their horses and build stone fortresses by the stream. On the shore, we have prepared hammocks for them, a shelter to comfortably eat lunch and a place for a bonfire, and finally there is a swing that you can swing by the water.
In the yard (not tightly fenced) there is a swing, a slide and a sandpit, and in the summer there is a large swimming pool. Splashes, divers and baths are welcome.
At our friends' over the mountain, children can try horseback riding, and at the closest neighbor's, see how honey is made.
During the winter holidays, we encourage you to use the newly built ski lift BIESZCZAD SKI.
