José Tabares Bartlett, one of the best poets of 19th-century realism in Canarian poetry and former mayor of the Tenerife city San Cristóbal de La Laguna, used to live in this 300 years old farmhouse, that also served as a winery. In his texts he describes the Canarian landscapes, its hills and traditions. In the Caserío you can still find places where he sat looking for inspiration while observing the landscape of the place. He even described the house itself in a text: "I have a little house that the north wind bathes, between the sea and the shadow of a mountain. It is embellished around beautiful palm trees that rise up between pitas and between prickly pears.”
Who could resist these romantic words? If you want to get yourself a picture of what Bartlett saw, you can easily do it by visiting his old home! We await you at Caserío el Boquerón with a wide garden and speactacular views on the surrounding landscape.
Enjoy special moments in a place with history, with a lot of typical flavor, a farmhouse that dates back to the 18th century. Our house contemplates a unique historical framework, for lovers of nature, the rural world and traditional Canarian architecture. Nestled in a rural valley, the Valle Guerra, next to the hill El Boquerón, with some native crops, this 18th-century farmhouse has remained linked to the same family, the descendants of the Nava and Grimón. Before the current remodeling it was inhabited four generations ago.
The old winery of the estate with one meter thick stone walls has become a large shared living-dining-kitchen area. Its seating area includes: a comfortable sofa, a dining area and a 65-inch smart TV.
The rooms, which are located right next to the winery-lounge, are a cozy and perfect stay for a couple or family looking for tranquility and peace. Access to the bedrooms is through the outside patio of the house. Both bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are interconnected, making it perfect for families with small children.
The rooms all have standing showers, Wi-Fi connection, wardrobes and heating. Outside there is an area set up to enjoy meals and special evenings, accompanied by spectacular sunsets. The rooms include: 4 beds 90 x 200 cm, bed linen, wardrobe, hanger and on request a free baby cot.

Our house is located in the northwest of the island of Tenerife next to the El Boquerón hill and therefore surrounded by a natural landscape, rich in native flora and fauna, in an environment of traditional vineyards and agriculture. The Mirador de El Boquerón outlook is located just 1,3 kilometers away and offers views of the entire agricultural area of Valle Guerra, including the Mesa de Tejina, Tejina, Tegueste, also the Macizo de Anaga, the Roques del Boquerón, as well as La Punta del Hidalgo and its fabulous lighthouse.
La Punta del Hidalgo and Bajamar are nice villages only a few kilometers from us where surfing beaches and natural pools are located.
Even less distance divides us from the rocky beach Playa del Roquillo in northern dicrection.
Northeast of the nearby city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna (commonly known as "La Laguna"), after the village Las Mercedes, you find the huge green area of the Parque Rural de Anaga. Here you can go hiking and enjoy the view from several outlooks: the Mirador de Jardina, Mirador del Llano de los Loros, Mirador Cruz del Carmen and Mirador Pico de Ingles. Only about 500 meters from the latter one lies the Camino Viejo al Pico del Inglés, one of the best kept secrets of Anaga: the old path is characterized by a unique landscape, a natural corridor in which the laurel forest melts in its highest part.
In cooperation with our partner SENDA ECOWAY we also offer an organized excursion to the ancient forest in Anaga. For 65 Euro per person (for children up to 8 years 33 Euro) an official guide - who speaks Spanish and English - will take you to the thousand-year-old laurel forest of the park, a landscape of exuberant vegetation. After this, you will visit a "Guachinche", a typical Canary Island establishment where a locally produced wine is served accompanied by homemade traditional food (in this case for example the local flour "gofio", "carne fiesta", cheese).
Ask us also for other excursions organized by SENDA ECOWAY!
And of course La Laguna itself, the the ancient capital of the Canary Islands, is worth a visit. Its historical center with its large number of churches and convents, as well as its historic colonial-style buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What’s there for children?
At Caserío el Boquerón, we have a telescope that the staying families can use for observing the magical (night) sky of Tenerife.
If your kid is into horseriding, then we have good news for you: close to our place you can find the horse riding school CHER Centro Hipico El Rocio where you can book lessons. On Tenerife, you can generally ride along the beaches, but also to the various inactive vulcanos - which is a really special experience because you think you are riding on the moon. You can learn horse riding from scratch or you can also get more experience if you are an advanced rider. The teachers on Tenerife mostly are capable of different languages (mostly English and German).
