Na miły Bug

We invite you to an idyllic and cozy house located at the end of the village, at the end of Poland - behind our house there are only meadows and the Bug River. The house was built by my in-laws and it was their favorite place on Earth. When, after many years, we decided to bring it back to life, there was a lot of work. After long hours of cleaning, we sat on the veranda with a sense of duty fulfilled and blissful peace. Then, suddenly, the clean glass that was on the table broke. It basically fell to pieces. We still laugh to this day that it was Basia who let us know that she was happy that we came home and took care of him :) The wooden house, although inconspicuous from the outside, is large. It has: – 120 m², – sleeping space for 8 people (for max. 6 adults + 2 children or two families 2+2), – a real Ukrainian chan for spa baths (which serves as a swimming pool for children during the day), – veranda with places to relax (roofed part for bad weather and sunny part), – climbing wall in the attic (because why not), – a large plot with an orchard. Don't count on luxuries, because we don't have them for you. There are mosquitoes here, it smells like a village, and there isn't even a shop there. However, the interior has everything you need and even a little more to enjoy a peaceful stay. We decorated the house carefully and warmly, using second-hand furniture, because I love renovating them. The equipment also includes my great-grandfather's old wooden cabinet and Aniela's great-grandmother's table and bench. If you are not surprised by what a holiday in the countryside involves, and what you need most is breathing, isolation and contact with nature, you will be really happy here. And it is precisely such people who value peace and consciously approach relaxation that we will welcome here with open arms. Come to us as a family or with a group of friends, but hen parties and integration trips are not a local (rural) fairy tale. The area is full of animals: moose, deer, foxes, hares, cranes, herons and, of course, storks that live here on every pole - there are more of them than the inhabitants themselves. "Our" squirrels live in the spruce trees next to the house, and birds live in nesting boxes. We live 30 km from Uchańka, but we will be happy to come and welcome you there. You can then ask us anything - we will be happy to advise you where and how to spend time in the area.

You can cook yourself, using the kitchen at home (quite well equipped, including a dishwasher, capsule coffee machine, oven), or... we will arrange dinner for you. From where? From a nearby agritourism farm. It is located 10 km from us and the food is delivered straight to your door at the selected time. It will be simple, rustic, rich and very tasty. The cost of a lunch set (depending on the available option), i.e. soup and second course, ranges from PLN 25 to PLN 35. They serve such rural delicacies as fresh meat or tench fillet from their own pond. There is no stationary store in our village, but from Monday to Saturday from 12.00–13.00 ABC mobile shop passes by (Mr. Andrzej as driver and salesperson). You can buy all the basic products there. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, a refrigerated bus will arrive with local meat - a treat for the male part of the family (homemade sausages, cold cuts, lard). If you don't manage to find a door-to-door shop, the nearest shop in Dubienka is 4 km away, so you'd better remember to put up this sign. It is worth going to our neighbor, Mrs. Marysia, for fresh eggs, and to nearby Ladeniska for honey.

We will say this: the most distracting place in the world is not it, and it is here that it is most beautiful. From the monuments in Uchańka itself, we only have the Kościuszko Mound, commemorating the Battle of Dubienka in 1792. It is rather pointless to make a long list of attractions to check off, it is better to take your time spontaneously and discover the area little by little. But if you want: – walk through the wild Bug meadows and forests, – ride bicycles (we have 2-3 for you, free of charge), - lie by the water, - kayaking, – stare at the fabulously starry sky at night, – read books on the porch or by the fireplace (we have a small library), – make evening bonfires, and then sit until morning and talk, it is here that all this and much more is done with great pleasure and without any compulsion. We also have a thermal bath for you for spa baths (herbal, epsom salt, mud, beer). Another name for this attraction is the Ukrainian Chan, or the witches' cauldron. So you can say that we are weighing human soup here :) We'll give a few more details. – 4 km from us there is the Husynne lagoon - intimate, with a beach, a pier and a lifeguard in the season (sometimes we are the only sunbathers on it during the week) - it's a good place for sunbathing with kids; by car you have 9 minutes to reach it, and by bike, along dirt roads, just 4 km. – Also 4 km, but in the opposite direction from Husynne, you will find a beach on the Dubienka lagoon. – You are only 200 m away from the Bug. - During the spring thaw, when the Bug floods the surrounding meadows, we have a real sea and mangroves here. The pool stretches to the very horizon! An interesting fact is that the neighboring village - Kolemczyce (with a dizzying number of permanent residents: 3) is then cut off from the world, you can only get there by boat. – Our house stands on a slope, at the very end of the village and you can admire the beautiful oxbow lake every day. If you want to go kayaking, the trips start 4 km further (Starosiele). – If you are a fan of stick soaking, Bug is a paradise for anglers. - The nearest area is the Strzelecki Landscape Park, forests, peat bogs, the Bug valley, there is a lot to admire. - In the nearby village - Stanisławówka (at a distance of 1.5 km), picturesquely situated in a dense forest, there is a stud farm - Chutor Kozaka. Unforgettable, all-day horse rides in the Bug valley, off the beaten track (for experienced riders), are organized here. Amazing experience! – Nearby Kolemczyce, Stanisławówka, Nowokajetanówka, Rogatka are also great places for off-roading by off-road vehicle. - Right next to us runs the Bug River bicycle trail, which is about 300 km long. The trail leads through 5 landscape parks, many nature reserves and protected landscape areas. Can you visit at least part of it? - Our Uchańka is a good starting point for exploring the Lublin region: from here you can get to Chełm, Zamość, Lublin, Roztocze, the Polesie National Park, the Łęczyńsko-Włodawskie Lake District or the Museum in Sobibór. – At a distance of 27 km, we recommend the nature trail in Hniszów, where the largest and one of the oldest oaks in the region, the "Bolko" Oak, grows. It is 9 meters in circumference and nearly 30 meters high. It was named in memory of Bolesław the Brave, who at the beginning of the 11th century traveled with his army along the Polish-Ruthenian borderland on his march to Kiev. The oak is about 500 years old and grows in the manor park in Hniszów on the Bug River. – 36 kilometers from Uchańka, there is the Bagno Serebryskie Reserve in the Chełm Landscape Park. It is a peatbog reserve in the area of the Chełm Landscape Park, which protects low carbonate peatlands, unique in Europe. Peat bogs, occupying wet areas on a chalky substrate with little permeability, are overgrown with rare species of plants and animals, and numerous elevations, the so-called Grodziki, are occupied by xerothermic grasslands. Knowledge and curiosities about forest and peat ecosystems protected under the Chełm Landscape Park are best acquired at the Ecological Education Center in Brzeźno (26 km). The center, located in the heart of Chełmskie Torfowiska Węglane, conducts many attractive field activities, trips and multimedia lectures, dedicated mainly to children and teenagers. – We know Chełm like the back of our hand and we recommend visiting it. First of all, the Cathedral Mountain in Chełm, on its highest hill, is the cathedral complex with the Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 18th century. Next to the cathedral, there is a tall bell tower from the 1870s, which you can climb up and admire the panorama of the city. Several objects from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved in the whole complex, e.g. Ustylugska Gate, Bishop's Palace and Basilian Monastery. Chełm is famous for its world-unique Chalk Underground, dug by the townspeople under the city in the period from the 16th to the 19th century. From the multi-storey labyrinth of corridors and chambers, a section of 2 kilometers was separated. The route runs under the city center, including the Market Square, where it is worth seeing, e.g. shaft of the old town well. In the underground you can meet their legendary ruler - the Beluga Spirit! In the summer, take a warm sweatshirt or jacket, because the temperature is constantly low here. In addition, it is worth seeing the Baroque Church of the Sending of the Holy Apostles, the Orthodox Church of St. Jana Teolog, visit the Museum of the Chełm Land or ride city bikes along the Chełm Boulevard on the Uherka River. Holidays with us are for those who want to stay, those who want to be close to nature, for those who relax in idyllic climates. For those who dream of listening to the clatter of a stork instead of the noise of cars and cutting off from the gray everyday life for a few moments.
