At a glance
Some dream of space travel, others of a Caribbean cruise, but we simply wanted a windmill. In Masuria. Not just any windmill – our imaginations were sparked by those we'd seen years earlier in Spain and France. In southern countries, similar structures have been built from stone, in circular shapes, for centuries. Wooden post mills are more typical of Poland. However, we figured no one would be offended by this slight cultural inconsistency. And when you visit, you'll tell us for yourselves whether the windmill doesn't look as if it's always stood on the hill in Zyndaki.
Perhaps it's because of the surrounding boulders from which we constructed the facade. All the stones used for its construction came from nearby fields. Since a crane couldn't be placed on the hill, we transported every brick, stone, and beam to the top by hand. Sometimes, rolling a single boulder took several hours. Now that's a lesson in mindfulness, isn't it? And I think you understand now why the windmill took six years to build. And getting back to the bricks... each one, including the one with the dog's paw print, came from the demolition of former Masurian houses. Local materials, combined with the technological know-how of the French who helped us create the design, resulted in a dream come true: a completely modern windmill that looks as it did 200 years ago.
You can spend a few magical days here with four people, as that's how many the building can accommodate. It's hard to say which will be the best: sleeping on top of the windmill, beneath its exposed machinery, bathing in a cast-iron bathtub underground, or perhaps the feeling of freedom offered by the view from the hill. You might also be captivated by the furniture we made ourselves and the ceramics we made. We value craftsmanship, living close to nature, and space. Kindness and joy of life are even closer to us. Hi, this is Nina and Rafał. Masuria has always been a land full of magic for us ⛵, that's why we built our windmill here. We knew from the beginning that we wanted to build it using the technique from 200 years ago. The work lasted over 6 years. From this year we can share this beautiful place with our guests.
