Rose and Mint are on one plot. Rose in the front and Mint in the back. Through colorful windows they look at the meadow and trees, colorful doors open to those who want to be wrapped in a blanket of peace. We built two houses from reclaimed wood and located them in the shadow of the Giant Mountains. This is how the Jizera Mountains and the Karkonosze Mountains were once called. Stories about the Spirit of the Mountains, aka Karkonosze, are still very common here. Wolimierz itself is also unique, a village with artistic colors and information boards hand-made by the inhabitants. The history of this place began with exulants from the Kingdom of Bohemia who founded Volkersdorf. The name comes from the peasant Volkert, the owner of a vast meadow by the Lusatian stream. The same one that constitutes one of the boundaries of our plot in the Upper Lusatian land full of kindness, colorful inhabitants and artistic events signed by Stacja Wolimierz.
In Wolimierz, it is best to adopt the most natural pose and be out of reach, schedule and time. Time follows its own path here. He stretches lazily to have enough time for an afternoon nap or one more delight. In winter, you can admire panoramas from cross-country trails and ski slopes. In spring, do greenery therapy and soreness after kilometers walked or on two wheels. In the summer, experience artistic ecstasy and hippie freedom. And in autumn, feed your eyes with a kaleidoscope of colors and your palate with kilograms of boletus. Come to a place that has already been loved by many, but is still outside the mainstream tourist scene and has countless secrets to discover.
In the shadow of the Jizera Mountains, 3 kilometers from the border with the Czech Republic, we have found a place where we shake off the dust of the city and where we drop in to experience a regenerating rest. On a plot of 3000 m², we built a carport equipped with photovoltaic panels, an outbuilding and our stars: two comfortable houses. One with mint woodwork, the other in rose color. Their design was created on a piece of paper and made real by a local carpenter.
Each of the houses has 45 m² and was created for 4 people. Inside you will find:
– a living room with a dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower downstairs,
– two bedrooms (larger with a double bed, a large window and an armchair with a footstool, and a smaller one with two single beds and space for toys) and a toilet on the first floor.
And in front of each of them is a terrace with a table and 4 chairs.
The houses are located so that you can enjoy the greatest privacy. They do not look at their windows, and the paths leading to them do not cross. We built them so that you can reach the cottages with dry feet, regardless of the weather.
The interiors are bright and cozy. We made sure that you were pleasant in them and there was plenty of space to store and hang your things. The houses are heated with an air-to-air pump, and for even greater comfort, the bathroom has floor heating and an electric heater.
We wanted the houses to blend in with the area with their appearance and character, which is why we built them from natural materials that come from recycling. We obtained wood for the construction from the demolition of a nearby factory, then we also managed to find old tiles and floors that came from the other end of Poland.
In a separate building there is a washing machine and a lot of space to store bicycles, skis or a pram.
The houses are opened with a code that you will receive on arrival, so you can easily come even late.
You can eat whatever you want. You can prepare delicious meals in the kitchen, which is equipped with a two-burner induction cooker, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, cooking and serving utensils. Coffee, tea and sugar are waiting for you in jars on the shelf. Weather permitting, you can dine on the terrace and use the grill.
There is only one local shop in Wolimierz, it is worth visiting it at least once because it has a unique atmosphere.
If you need some quiet and relaxation, it is highly likely that you will not move too far from Wolimierz. You can come here for peace and enjoy its various forms by sitting, lying or walking in the shadow of the Jizera Mountains. We recommend numerous stops on the terrace with a cup of coffee and a blanket on your lap or in a comfortable armchair with a book that you can choose from our library. Evenings with board games, which are also waiting in the houses, are also worth your attention.
We can boast of a pleasant mountain climate, clean air, a rich network of hiking and biking trails, the proximity of Świeradów-Zdrój, castles, ski slopes and numerous viewpoints to admire the panorama of the Jizera Mountains, both on the Polish and Czech side. Wolimierz itself has been an artistic colony since the 1990s, which flourishes in summer thanks to the festival organized by the Wolimierz Station and the entire range of local creative initiatives. The program of concerts, artistic events and local fairs is very rich. You can experience truly hippie freedom here.
A chestnut avenue, also known as the black one, leads from Wolimierz to Pobiedna. Folk legend says that at midnight a galloping headless rider appears there. At this time, you can admire the sky full of stars, which are clearly visible (nearby is the Izerski Park of the Dark Sky).
If you come to us with a plan for active recreation and exploring the area, you should not leave disappointed. We recommend in particular:
Bicycle routes - asphalt, gravel and mountain routes, especially single tracks located in Świeradów-Zdrój by the gondola, in the Zajęcznik massif and around Czerniawska Kopa, and in the Czech Novy Mesto pod Smrkem.
Cross-country skiing routes, with particular emphasis on the 10-kilometer Jizera Grouse Trail (the route is marked with the bird's trail symbol), starting at the upper gondola station at Stóg Izerski. The trail leads to the Izerska Łąka (clearing), and from there it allows you to continue to Jakuszyce. In total, there are over 100 km of routes in the vicinity of Jakuszyce and Świeradów-Zdrój. You can also go to the Czech Republic for cross-country skiing. The routes on both sides are groomed.
The most convenient way to go hiking is from Świeradów-Zdrój, to which we have 10 km. From there, there is a trail to Stóg Izerski (there is also another gondola), from where you can continue to Smrek. In Hala Izerska, there is the Chatka Górzystów hostel, where legendary pancakes are served. You can also go to the mountains from the Orle or Jakuszyc shelters.
What else?
- Sky Walk, i.e. a 62-meter lookout tower, from which you can go down a 105-meter slide,
- castles: Czocha (12 km from us) and Czech Frýdlant (22 km),
- Kwisa river (great for rafting) and lakes: Złotnickie and Leśniakowskie,
- Magiczna Pławna with the Castle of Silesian Legends, Knight's Castle and Noah's Ark created by a local artist - Dariusz Miliński,
- Lubomierz with the Kargul and Pawlak Museum and a charming market square known for its own.
On the last weekend of May, we invite you to the Open Day of Half-timbered Houses, in July it is worth coming to the festival at Wolimierz Station, and in August to Izerbaijan Punk Eko Fest.
What’s there for children?
Children will sleep comfortably in a separate room with two beds, where there is also a lot of space to play.
We have board games and lots of books for them. There are no additional attractions with us yet. Everything is created slowly here, so we are planning a place to play in the garden for the next season. Now, there will be plenty of outdoor space for the youngest and the joy of contact with nature.
If you are coming with small children, remember that stairs and terraces do not have barriers.
