When you leave the route leading to Szczytno, the road will lead you through a pergola made of trees. It is the gateway to our land. It is difficult for us to decide whether it is closer to the Scandinavian wilderness, or if it would be more suitable for the pages of one of Tolkien's novels. It is certain that, lying on an arbitrary border between two regions, it takes the best of each of them. It can boast of Masurian proximity to lakes, endless green forests and meadows as well as Warmia intimacy of a place whose beauty is still shrouded in mystery, known only to a few. Our hiding place from the world, tailored to the needs of the duo, cannot even be found on the map. However, there are those who want to embrace nature, meet with each other, enjoy other people and give their dog to their dog.
From dawn to dusk, you can enjoy small pleasures in our hygge-style cottage. Some do not even need to be done, because they are standard, such as: the view from the bed on the endless meadow and the company of deer, two cranes and a hopping hare. You can try mornings with coffee on the terrace, afternoons filled with discovering forest paths and swimming in a forgotten, wild lake (which you can reach in 10 minutes). The evenings will be taken care of by the home sauna and the sky filled with stars to the limit. Jan and I came up with a fortress of closeness here and created it to a large extent with the work of our own hands. We drew the project on a piece of paper, we carried the bed here on our backs, we learned how to build a well, and together with a nearby carpenter, we gave the furniture a second life. We nurture the wildness of nature into which we have fitted the house so that no tree is damaged. We feel part of nature here, we fall into admiration over the transparency of blue lakes, and we welcome the Masurian dawn with the accompaniment of a clangor of cranes.
Mazurski Świt is a small, modern house decorated in the hygge style. It is a space full of tenderness that we created initially for ourselves, and then we decided to share it with others. In the interior, we focused on soothing color experiences, natural colors and a lot of coziness. Scandinavian style is mixed with retro accents and boho accessories. Functional solutions were also important, ensuring that you wouldn't miss anything in this small space. The surroundings favor silence and getting closer to each other. Located among the Masurian hills, hidden among birch trees, close to the forest and endless meadows visited by hares, deer and cranes. It is pleasant and intimate - only on one side we border the neighboring house.
The house is year-round, has 35 m² and consists of:
– a separate bedroom with a double bed (160x200 cm) and a work corner,
– a small kitchenette connected to the living room, with a sofa and a table with chairs,
– bathroom with a shower (where Yope cosmetics are waiting for you - shower gel, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner),
– a spacious sauna in the bathroom for 2 people (both can lie down), which heats up in fifteen minutes,
– a 10-meter terrace with a table and chairs, on which you can put deck chairs, there is also an umbrella to protect against the sun (only in summer),
– a hall with a plywood wardrobe of my design, which will accommodate all your things and ensure that the space does not become cluttered.
From the bedroom, through the window that takes up the entire wall, you can see the meadow and the forest in the distance. This is a space that allows you to truly relax. For reading, drawing, creating and working, we have a foldable desk and a foldable chair that can be stored under the bed when not in use. I don't have Wi-Fi in the house, but you can use your own network without any major problems, even to watch movies.
We have created our micro Scandinavia here, where we cultivate the wildness of the existing nature. We took care to integrate the house into the plot, which measures 1,671 m². Not a single tree was damaged during its construction. Our plot is not fenced, we do not want to disturb forest animals in their migrations. Although we do not have a fence, the area has a natural fence. They are: the forest, the wildly overgrowing sides of the plot and our private, unused road.
There is about 200 meters of dirt road leading to our plot, of which about 90 meters is uneven and demanding for cars with low suspension. We have one neighbor.
The terrace offers a view of a field full of grass, which is mowed twice a season, and the peace may be disturbed by a working tractor. We are about 500 m to the village of Elganowo.
We also love hosting your four-legged friends. We have two dogs who feel very comfortable here. There are bowls, a towel and cookies waiting for your dogs in the house, and there are plenty of pleasant walking trails in the area.
Equally important to what you eat is the natural setting. And these, regardless of the season and even the weather, provide a wealth of pleasant experiences. It is nice to serve meals on the terrace, gaze at the greenery and spot forest animals. You can also enjoy your meal inside, sitting at a small table made by a local carpenter.
The kitchenette is small, but it lacks nothing. And certainly not dishes, pots, cutlery, cups, glasses or plates. For those who cannot imagine their mornings without coffee, there is a French press and ground coffee. We have not forgotten about tea lovers either. There is also olive oil, so that you do not have to buy a whole bottle.
You will have plenty of little miracles here, among the Masurian hills. In a house hidden among birches, surrounded by spruce trees, you will truly rest, celebrating small pleasures such as: waking up in bed with a view of nature, coffee drunk in the morning on the terrace to the accompaniment of bird singing, communing with nature, wandering around the surrounding forests, a session in sauna and reading books in a deck chair.
We have equipped the house with numerous enchantments: candles and lights to illuminate your evenings, natural cosmetics, a salt candle in the bathroom and several books, including a bird guide, so that you can recognize which concerts are organized for you. In the cottage waiting for you: chess, scrabble and badminton rackets. To take with you for longer and shorter trips, we have prepared a picnic blanket.
In the morning you will probably spot two cranes living in the meadow. Their klangor will be the melody accompanying you here. Just like the singing of other birds, which you will listen to from dawn to dusk. Roe deer, foxes and hares hopping on the meadow are also frequent.
A 10-minute walk separates us from the intimate, square-shaped Jegły Lake. There used to be a pier next to the wild, sandy descent into the water, today you can only see its remains. You will have the lake exclusively, because you don't meet anyone here.
There are several more lakes in the vicinity. We especially recommend the Leleskie Lake with its blue water surface. We are separated by a 40-minute walk. You have to get to the camping site, behind which there is a pleasant descent into the water. The lake is characterized by excellent water transparency, appreciated by divers. The water is very clean, so there are many beaches and piers along the shores. From Lake Leleskie you can sail through Lake Kiepunek to Lake Kalwa, which is a frequently chosen canoeing route. Kayaks can be rented at the nearby camping sites. You can also go sailing on the lake. The surrounding reservoirs are a quiet zone.
Near the house there is the Elganowski canal overflow, where you can often meet elks.
The surrounding forests are full of hiking and biking trails. And in autumn there are a lot of mushrooms in them.
During your stay with us, you can visit historic villages and charming towns where you can admire the pre-war architecture and move back to the past for a moment: Pasym, Szczytno, Grom, Barczewo, or Dźwierzuty. We are less than 40 km to Olsztyn.
Winter is also very attractive with us. The area abounds in picturesque cross-country skiing trails, hiking trails leading among the old pine forests of the Napiwodzko-Ramucka Forest, and in 50 minutes you can reach the Góra Czterech Wiatrów ski slope.
In the evenings, there is nothing better than warming up in the sauna located in the cottage.
