When you hear Roztocze, you may think: green forests, meandering rivers, walks, mushrooms, canoes. We add to this gentle hills that please the eyes with mosaics of carpets composed of green or gold fields full of cereals and sunny yellow rapeseed flowers. And in winter they are covered with snow blankets. You should know about Roztocze that the air is very clean here, and the concentration of iodine in this air is almost the same as at the seaside. This is the land where the Roztocze Landscape Park, overgrown with firs and beeches, stretches and where Polish horses live. This is Zwierzyniec, Szczebrzeszyn and Zamość and a whole lot of small picturesque towns where you can wander around. These are canoeing trips on the Wieprz, Tanwia and Łada rivers, as well as kilometers covered by bicycle on the Central Bicycle Trail of Roztocze and the Eastern Green Velo Trail, which partly runs this way. It is finally and above all peace, deep breaths and time for everything that is missing in the busy everyday life.
And what does it look like in detail?
IN SIEDLISKO
Our settlement is a place to regenerate power, hide and stay in an intimate group, burning topics, urgent matters and everything that bothers your head is not allowed here. There is little to do here and enjoy it. When the warmth of the fireplace or bonfire warms you up, you soak in the tub or pool, swing on a swing or hammock and get to know the area from every nearby vantage point, perhaps it's time to move on.
IN THE AREA
The most beautiful view of Roztocze can be seen from Kotula, at the foot of which our habitat is located and we recommend a trip to it first. In addition to the views, a whole lot of various herbs are waiting for you at the top. The second hill is behind our barn. It's nice to just wander around.
You can also visit it by bike. There are bike rentals in the area, including electric ones. From Hamernia, next to the Czartowe Pole nature reserve, the Józefów singletrack route starts. It is one-way, you can return to the start along the Green Velo trail. In Józefów, be sure to try traditional ice cream from Martowa, drop by the Babia Dolina quarry and see the historic cemetery. You can also try your strength on the Roztocze Bicycle Trail, which leads from Zwierzyniec, through Krasnobród, to Majdan Sopocki, or the Roztocze Central Bicycle Trail, leading from Kraśnik to Lviv. Both trails meet each other, so you can plan loops.
Hamernia itself is also worth mentioning. Czartowe Pole, i.e. a reserve located right next to the village, owes its name to a legend according to which "devil's hasali" in the clearing. The Sopot River flows here, which resembles a rushing mountain stream in the section of the reserve, creating numerous and very charming waterfalls. They are more irregular and restless than those on Tanwia, to which we have a little further. A natural and didactic path runs through the reserve, marked in blue and partly leading along wooden footbridges. In addition to the charms of nature, in the reservations you can see the ruins of the Zamoyski paper mill from the eighteenth century.
In Zwierzyniec, located less than 20 minutes by car from us, you will see the church on the island, which was built at the request of Marysieńka (later wife of Jan III Sobieski) and initially served as a theater, the Plenipotentiary Palace built in the Swiss style (currently the seat of the Roztocze National Park) and the eternal brewery, where the beer hall is located. In August, the city hosts the Summer Film Academy,
In the Roztocze National Park, it is worth seeing the Echo ponds - four water reservoirs with an area of 40 ha, fed by the waters of the Świerszcz stream in the middle of the forest, where you can walk and sunbathe. From the lookout tower by the ponds, sometimes you can spot wild herds of Polish horses (binoculars may be useful). In the forest settlement in Florianka you will surely spot, meet and stroke them.
There are many rivers in the vicinity, including Wieprz, Tawia, Bukowa, Sanna and Łada. Wieprz you can sail from Bondyrz, which is located right next to Trzepieciny.
Bondyrz itself is also worth seeing. There are two wooden watermills (one restored) and an old and unfortunately dilapidated building of a village bath house from 1928.
You can also go to Guciów to visit the homestead, two museums and take part in regular workshops.
In winter, Roztocze: skiing, sledding, cross-country skiing and sleigh rides. Ski stations: Jacnia and Batorz.
