In Trzepieciny, Stefan Czarnicki's troops beat the Swedes led by King Carl Gustav. Hence the name of the town. We in Roztocze started by chance. Specifically, new acquaintances made on the occasion of his son's debut at school. The search for the right place among the Roztocze hills, which are covered with colorful mosaics in spring, summer and autumn, and snowy eiderdowns in winter, lasted 6 years. On the day when we were supposed to buy a plot at the last number in the village, it turned out that we would not get a loan. By a twist of fate, or maybe again by accident, we ended up at number 1. But the view of a fenced plot and a house with a block barely visible through numerous extensions was not of the breathtaking type. However, something told us that when we tear down all the cribs and the fence, we will find what we have been looking for for so long. So we started the renovation.
Under Kotula, where you can climb for the most beautiful view of Roztocze and a multitude of herbs, a place has been created where you can recharge your powers away from the noise of the world. You will immerse yourself in the warm waters of the tub, swing in a hammock on the terrace, warm yourself by the crackling fire of the fireplace or bonfire and rest in the house to which we added a floor so that the six of us can sleep blissfully in three bedrooms. We did not put up the dismantled fence again, opening the garden to the forest, and our heads to space. Come here if you want to stop struggling with life and gain the power of peace.
Welcome to Roztocze. Make yourself comfortable in our habitat in the village of Trzepieciny, at the foot of Kotula (341 m above sea level), in a 105-meter house. We are surrounded by the hills of Roztocze - covered with carpets of rapeseed and green cereals in spring, and covered with snow in winter. Our house, which we have diligently renovated and added a floor to, is nestled in the forest. Even the eight of you can comfortably unwind here (although 6 people will be the most comfortable), taking advantage of the charms of the house with three bedrooms and the barn, where we have created a space for rest. You can organize intimate family celebrations, meetings and workshops there.
House has:
– a living room with a sofa bed and a fireplace,
- a kitchen with a dining room,
– two bedrooms with single beds,
– one bedroom with a double bed,
- two bathrooms,
– terrace with table and swing-hammocks.
The interiors are bright and cozy. Full of old furniture, sophisticated accessories and greenery that soothes the senses. Relaxation is also favored by a bathtub in one of the bathrooms and a terrace full of lights.
There is also a tub in the garden at your disposal, and in the summer we put a large swimming pool on the plot, which gives a lot of pleasure to both small and large.
In the space of the terrace, garden and barn you will find many pleasant places to relax: there are deckchairs, armchairs, hammocks and swings. At your disposal we also leave space for a bonfire, cauldron and grill.
Our plot is only partially fenced, the borders with the forest are open.
We don't have TV sets or the Internet, because Kotula was created to be able to enjoy the undisturbed silence and each other's company. Siedlisko has been our place of power for many years, which allows you to experience peace, unite with family or friends and gain energy.
In our bright kitchen with a tiled stove, you can cook by yourself. And then you just have to decide where to eat the prepared meal. Choice of: dining room, terrace or barn space.
If on holiday you only come to the kitchen to boil water for tea, you should not be disappointed with the surrounding restaurants.
In Zagroda Guciów, in addition to museums, there is a culinary open-air museum where you can taste nettle soup (in the nettle season) and check what a łupcie and reczczoniak are. You can also find out in advance when they take place and take part in demonstrations: baking flatbreads or sourdough bread with tasting and try to make butter yourself. Not far from us, there is probably the most famous restaurant in Roztocze, which is full of trout. In the Fisherman's Cottage you will taste specialties made of fish grown on the spot.
When you hear Roztocze, you may think: green forests, meandering rivers, walks, mushrooms, canoes. We add to this gentle hills that please the eyes with mosaics of carpets composed of green or gold fields full of cereals and sunny yellow rapeseed flowers. And in winter they are covered with snow blankets. You should know about Roztocze that the air is very clean here, and the concentration of iodine in this air is almost the same as at the seaside. This is the land where the Roztocze Landscape Park, overgrown with firs and beeches, stretches and where Polish horses live. This is Zwierzyniec, Szczebrzeszyn and Zamość and a whole lot of small picturesque towns where you can wander around. These are canoeing trips on the Wieprz, Tanwia and Łada rivers, as well as kilometers covered by bicycle on the Central Bicycle Trail of Roztocze and the Eastern Green Velo Trail, which partly runs this way. It is finally and above all peace, deep breaths and time for everything that is missing in the busy everyday life.
And what does it look like in detail?
IN SIEDLISKO
Our settlement is a place to regenerate power, hide and stay in an intimate group, burning topics, urgent matters and everything that bothers your head is not allowed here. There is little to do here and enjoy it. When the warmth of the fireplace or bonfire warms you up, you soak in the tub or pool, swing on a swing or hammock and get to know the area from every nearby vantage point, perhaps it's time to move on.
IN THE AREA
The most beautiful view of Roztocze can be seen from Kotula, at the foot of which our habitat is located and we recommend a trip to it first. In addition to the views, a whole lot of various herbs are waiting for you at the top. The second hill is behind our barn. It's nice to just wander around.
You can also visit it by bike. There are bike rentals in the area, including electric ones. From Hamernia, next to the Czartowe Pole nature reserve, the Józefów singletrack route starts. It is one-way, you can return to the start along the Green Velo trail. In Józefów, be sure to try traditional ice cream from Martowa, drop by the Babia Dolina quarry and see the historic cemetery. You can also try your strength on the Roztocze Bicycle Trail, which leads from Zwierzyniec, through Krasnobród, to Majdan Sopocki, or the Roztocze Central Bicycle Trail, leading from Kraśnik to Lviv. Both trails meet each other, so you can plan loops.
Hamernia itself is also worth mentioning. Czartowe Pole, i.e. a reserve located right next to the village, owes its name to a legend according to which "devil's hasali" in the clearing. The Sopot River flows here, which resembles a rushing mountain stream in the section of the reserve, creating numerous and very charming waterfalls. They are more irregular and restless than those on Tanwia, to which we have a little further. A natural and didactic path runs through the reserve, marked in blue and partly leading along wooden footbridges. In addition to the charms of nature, in the reservations you can see the ruins of the Zamoyski paper mill from the eighteenth century.
In Zwierzyniec, located less than 20 minutes by car from us, you will see the church on the island, which was built at the request of Marysieńka (later wife of Jan III Sobieski) and initially served as a theater, the Plenipotentiary Palace built in the Swiss style (currently the seat of the Roztocze National Park) and the eternal brewery, where the beer hall is located. In August, the city hosts the Summer Film Academy,
In the Roztocze National Park, it is worth seeing the Echo ponds - four water reservoirs with an area of 40 ha, fed by the waters of the Świerszcz stream in the middle of the forest, where you can walk and sunbathe. From the lookout tower by the ponds, sometimes you can spot wild herds of Polish horses (binoculars may be useful). In the forest settlement in Florianka you will surely spot, meet and stroke them.
There are many rivers in the vicinity, including Wieprz, Tawia, Bukowa, Sanna and Łada. Wieprz you can sail from Bondyrz, which is located right next to Trzepieciny.
Bondyrz itself is also worth seeing. There are two wooden watermills (one restored) and an old and unfortunately dilapidated building of a village bath house from 1928.
You can also go to Guciów to visit the homestead, two museums and take part in regular workshops.
In winter, Roztocze: skiing, sledding, cross-country skiing and sleigh rides. Ski stations: Jacnia and Batorz.
What’s there for children?
The mite for children is simply wonderful! Countless natural, educational and purely fun attractions, the list of which I leave you below. There's plenty to choose from!
If you like bicycles, take them with you, forest paths are perfect for family trips.
In Kotula itself, children have, firstly, space, secondly, space, and thirdly, even more space. From dawn to dusk, they can explore the greenery of the garden, arrange car races on the terrace or build towers of blocks, splash in the pool, take naps in hammocks, build fortresses in the sandbox and feel the atmosphere of holidays in the countryside! Inside, there are accessories and protections that make life easier for parents (we have: a bathtub, a high chair and a barrier) as well as books, board games and some toys. We also have sleds thirsty for winter fun.
