There is something about the image of this house, immortalized on postcards from the early 20th century, that makes your heart beat faster. The village was then called Kiesewald, and the house was over 100 years old. Today, it has almost 400 of them on its foundations and is one of the oldest in Michałowice. The legend says that the town located in a valley at 650 m above sea level. founded in the 17th century by three Michał brothers, fleeing from the Czech Republic from religious persecution. I remember the exact moment I got here, stood in the neglected garden and looked at the building for the first time. A few years earlier, visualizing my own house in the Karkonosze Mountains, I bought a rocking chair. I imagined myself wrapped in a woolen blanket, rocking in it on the terrace with a mug of tea burning my tongue and watching the sun disappear behind the mountains. And that's exactly what I saw in that moment. In order to make this vision a reality, a renovation lasting several years was necessary, which Artur and his parents undertook on our own. Recently, we have introduced a few more changes, which meant that today Lavendów is waiting for everyone tired of the city: three cozy apartments, a common glazed room and a wooden house in the garden. On almost a hectare of land there is an old orchard, a lavender field with several hundred bushes, its own vegetable garden and lots of nooks and crannies created for disappearing.
Over the years, we have become a family haven where we make sure that there is a balance between the needs of big and small. So we have a tree house, swings, a playground and a trampoline. We also have secret hiding places with deckchairs, hammocks hung among the trees that call for naps, a terrace (and in a small house a porch) to sit with a cup of your favorite drink and a warming sauna. In the evenings, we turn the common space filled with board games and toys into a cinema room. You can have dinner with the whole family or spend the night in a tipi tent, sing by the fire and set off from here straight on the trails.
I invite you to the house hidden in the garden, filled with the smell of lavender and our concern for you to rest here the best in the world. Take your grandparents, children and dog and come.
In a house with a soul and almost 400 years of history. When it came into our hands, it was in a terrible condition. We decided to give it a second life, and for over 10 years it has been repaying us with the charm of a traditional, rural cottage, its warmth and coziness. Your senses will be pampered by the harmonious interiors, soothed by the scent of lavender picked in our 500-bush field and herbs from our garden.
Our almost hectare homestead is located on a dead-end street, in a quiet valley in Michałowice - a village surrounded by four mountains: Piechowicka Góra, Drewniak, Grzybowiec and Płoszczań. Legend has it that it was founded by three Michał brothers who fled from the Czech Republic to escape religious persecution in the 17th century.
Our house, on the floor of which we live, has:
- 3 apartments,
- a glassed-in room, which is a common area - it leads out to a terrace surrounded by a garden,
- a Finnish sauna,
- additional sleeping space above the common room.
The Fireplace Apartment is 65 m². Its heart is a clay-covered fireplace and a lounge area with sofas. It consists of two separate, double bedrooms with bathrooms and a kitchenette. It can accommodate up to 8 people. It has direct access to the garden and a view from the windows of the playground.
The Lawendowy Apartment consists of a 25-meter room with a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. You go out into the garden. It is an ideal space for a family with two children or 3 adults.

In each of the spaces we can put travel cots with a mattress for younger children and children's beds, bunk beds for older ones.
The interiors have clay plasters that regulate humidity and temperature, make the house breathe and have a friendly microclimate, and the air is clean.
There is also a 50-meter Lavender cottage in the garden. On the ground floor there is a kitchenette, a table, a sofa bed and a bathroom with a shower, and on the first floor there is an open bedroom with a double bed and two single beds. It will also fit a cot with rungs. We have arranged the cottage in a rustic style, decorated with folk accents. In front of the entrance there is a veranda, from which you go straight to the orchard.
We made sure to separate zones in the lush garden that give each of our guests the opportunity to hide away and relax. For adults, there are spaces with hammocks, deckchairs, tables with chairs and large tipi tents with a fireplace, where you can spend the night or organize dinner. For children, we have prepared a play area and a tree house. We have a place for a bonfire, and in the summer we set up a large swimming pool in the garden. On the premises there is also a lavender field, an orchard full of plums, nuts, cherries, sour cherries, apple trees and a vegetable garden. If there is no drought, a stream flows around the house, which brings coolness on hot days.
We have 4 cats living with us: Puszek, Chudy, Toffi and Lila, who you will meet in different corners of the garden. Animals are welcome here.
Although our house is located on a hill (650 m above sea level), over the course of our dozen or so years here, chains have never been necessary to reach us. In the event of continuous snowfall, you will have to wait for a plow at most.
Breakfast is served daily at 8:30 and is delivered to the apartment doors.
All apartments have equipped kitchenettes, where you can prepare your favorite dishes yourself. In each apartment we have prepared a kitchenette, equipped with everything you need to be able to prepare a meal yourself. On weekends, dishes are chosen from the menu, which is associated with a slightly higher cost (approx. PLN 30-40 for the whole thing). In the second place, it is possible to order meals every morning (except weekends). You can eat meals inside, as well as at tables in the garden, there is also a covered space for feasting. At your disposal on site will be a grill and a space for a bonfire.
If you feel like pampering your taste buds with fresh sourdough bread and plum jam from our orchard, you will be able to order both delicacies from us (let me know the day before if you want bread, it will be baked for the evening).
About 100 meters from our house, there is a restaurant open daily until 22:00 (from noon). If your walks in the mountains are longer than you expected, you can drop in for a warm meal on your way back from the trails.
We will not hide the fact that after entering our habitat, a person slows down. Breathing becomes deeper, and all senses experience relaxation and relief. Days pass by indulging in blissful laziness in the garden, which takes on various forms. It usually starts in the morning with a barefoot walk on the grass with a cup of hot coffee in your hands. If you get up early enough, you can see deer and stags that drop in to feed on our raspberries. Then you read books on deckchairs, do a yoga or meditation session on the terrace boards or in the glass-covered room, and fall asleep for a nap in the hammock.

If you come to Michałowice with a desire for the mountains, which also does not surprise us at all, you can set off straight from Lavendowo. You can reach the Szklarki Waterfall (the second largest, after Kamieńczyk, waterfall in the Karkonosze Mountains) by trail in about 1.5 hours. Lavendowo is located under the Śnieżne Kotły – two twin glacial cirques that cut into the northern slope of the main ridge of the Karkonosze Mountains. They lie between Wielki Szyszak (1509 m above sea level) and Łabski Szczyt (1472 m above sea level). It is also worth taking a trip to see Kociołki. This is a rock group with over 30 round cauldron-shaped depressions. The yellow trail leads to them, which also takes you to the Złoty Widok viewing platform, which offers a panoramic view of the Karkonosze Mountains and Szklarska Poręba. You can admire it from benches and deckchairs. A bit further on, there is an inactive quarry.
Other Karkonosze recommendations: Zbójnickie Skały, Kamieńczyk Waterfall, Wysoki Kamień, Wielki Szyszak, Bobrowe Skały.
There are many cycling routes of varying difficulty in the area: Pasmo Rowerowe Olbrzymy with over 70 km of routes named after Slavic gods and demons (the closest to us is the 19.5 km Piechowice Loop, which runs between Michałowice, Piechowice, and Jagniątków), single tracks in Michałowice and Świeradów-Zdrój, Karkonoski Express pod Reglami.
